    Hi, i am 17 and i have always been pressured by my parents to become a physician even though it was not for me and i was never excited or motivated when thinking about it. Quarantine has really given me the chance to think about my future plans and your videos really got me interested in dentistry and orthodontics. Im super excited to pursue it and my parents are also super proud! Thanks.

    Hi!
    I'm Richard and I've been working for an orthodontist for over 11 years now. It's pretty crazy to think about it but it's epic!
    I am not an orthodontist myself but as an assistant that has worked for just 2 weeks for a dentist, then switched to an orthodontist i can say that working in orthodontics is wonderful.
    You see people change. You see their self esteem grow. Seeing them tear up as they get their braces off and they see the start & finish after 2-3 years of treatment is something that can't be described with words.
    Also Dr. Nate, you are making great content!
    Best regards,
    Richard

      What’s the difference between dentist and orthodontist?

    • @csorthoschool
      @csorthoschool ปีที่แล้ว

      Dentists usually focus on the overall health of your teeth and the surrounding gums while orthodontists focus on the placement, correct position of your teeth, bite (occlusion) and skeletal situation.
      But a lot of dentists also do orthodontic work!

    People being disappointed that their child wants to become a dentist instead of a doctor will never make sense to me! Both jobs are highly respectable and in my country, the first few years or the first year you learn the exact same things as a med student.

    I have a big question. I really dislike any business related things 😂… starting my own clinic does not sound like a thing for me. Would it be possible to get to work in a hospital (public or private) immediately after graduating from dental school and just work in a hospital as a dentist instead of owning a clinic where you’re in charge of everything?

    I shadowed a general dentist the other day. I wore a dress shirt and tie lol and he was doing fillings. Saw the debris/ fine dust from the old fillings and tooth flying out everywhere, and I was concerned about like sanitation. Tiny particles and droplets getting all over his forearms.

    • @ThriveDentist
      @ThriveDentist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Woo. Love Japan! We went there during Orthodontic residency as an exchange program with some students there. Unfortunately I can't remember the school we visited but loved all the people. Our GPA at my school didn't matter as much for Orthodontics as I was an honor student every year. They mostly cared about your board part I scores which I did very well on.

    Hey I was wondering how many offices you own and if you own them yourself or you have other people help you or not to manage the business side of things. Are you the sole owner or is it some sort of partnership? Also how does owning offices as an orthodontist differ from owning offices as a general dentist?
