    I went with a 2.3l XLT FX4 since it'll be my daily and I will never tow, and if I do, then, it'll be very rare so I don't need all that extra power for something I'll only do a couple times in a few years. FX4 for the occasional offroad and XLT is a really nice interior. Never owned a new vehicle, so to me, it's a spaceship. Coming from 2007 and 2010, Hyundai Santa Fes.

    I test drove the 2.7 the other day and it transforms the truck. It feels so powerful, that’s the one to get. My only issues are lack of toe mirrors and a tiny fuel tank. Assuming 10mpg towing a camper that’s 150miles of range leaving some reserve fuel.

      @mdgeist472 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The F150 with what use to be optional but now standard 36 gal fuel tank is the shizzles.

      @@mdgeist472when you could get the 33gal tank in the eco diesel in the Ram, that was some serious range. Assuming it would stay out of the shop long enough to get through the whole tank 😂😂

    I feel like if you get the tow package, you should get tow mirrors. Also sync 4 vs 3 is so different

      And a bigger fuel tank 18.5 gallons isn’t enough.

    Great review. I have a 2011 f150 5.0. I really like that truck but maybe it's time to upgrade. These prices are ridiculous tho. I've never really considered a Ranger but one with the 2.7 might fit my needs. I'd probably go for a lariat tho. Maybe in a year or so I can find a nice used one for $35,000.

    I recently bought a 2024 Ranger XLT with the 2.7 V6 and FX4. The V6 has tons of power!

      The V6 has been great in the Broncos I've tested with it - I can imagine it's nice here too!

    I’ve been following towing experiences from the prior generation and yeah this review seems to mimic that. Pretty crazy that a 2.3 liter midsizer can perform that admirably with that type and weight of trailer. If I were still in the market for a midsize I’d totally consider it even over the 2.7 as I’d probably just opt for a base model unit.

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I never towed with the T6 generation! Really only drove one a few times and not for long. The 2.3 does a good enough job and is great unloaded - really just depends on how much you're towing and how often. I think for infrequent towing toward the top of the range, the 2.3 is fine. If I were buying, I'd want the 2.7 given I tow longer distances fairly often. But nice they offer both!

    Great stuff. I still wish you would provide some MPG stats as you tow with different trucks in with your standard trailer.

      I can try to incorporate that moving forward!

      My 2024 2.3 XLT only gets 10mpg towing a 14ft enclosed tandem axle high roof trailer even when it's empty. It goes well but mileage is no better than half or 3/4 ton towing.

    Crazy the headlight switch is a feature now but I mean so is the turn signal switch.

      @OutMotorsports  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right?? It's the one thing on the GM midsizers that is just a silly design decision.

    I had a hard time deciding between a 2023 Tacoma and the 2023 Ranger, I ended up with the Tacoma, but in the future I won’t be ruling out the Ranger so quickly especially after the updates of the wider wheel base and that payload. I’m hoping they will add the blind spot monitoring feature for the trailer soon. That would make towing so much easier for me. Thanks for the review! Very helpful!

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Glad it was helpful! Surprising they don't have BSM for towing on the Ranger given it's on the F-150. All of the new midsizers are pretty good and competitive in different ways - if you go shopping in the next few years, keep Ford and the GM twins in mind. I really really dig the Colorado and Canyon.

  • @travismaulden7170
    @travismaulden7170 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The blind spot warning system with the advanced towing package does work with trailers as long as you've programmed in the trailer length. It disables the cross traffic alerts when you connect a trailer.

  • @DRanger-wz7cg
    @DRanger-wz7cg หลายเดือนก่อน

    It actually does have the trailer blind spot monitoring. You have to go into the tow menu and you can set up multiple trailer profiles. Nice review!

    The weirdest thing Ford did is include power folding mirrors, but they are not heated. Even the rear window and seats are power heated. Makes zero sense. Side mirrors always fogged over in the north.

    Now that you have towed with both the colorado z71 and the ranger 2.7 which one would you spend your own money on?

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Colorado. I fit in it better and like their engine offering more - though the Ranger I towed with was the 2.3, not the Ford 2.7 V6. I'm curious how the V6 feels - undoubtedly stronger/better - but overall the GM interior is more my preference.

  • @b.g.4277
    @b.g.4277 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Between the 2024 Ranger, Colorado and Tacoma, which would you put your money on for long term reliability?
    Last year it would have been the Tacoma hands down, I honestly have no clue which I would trust the most in 2024.

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hmm. The Ford EcoBoosts have been relatively proven at this point - both 2.3 and 2.7 - given other applications. GM's 2.7 is newer but they did a lot to make sure it was reliable, especially given it can come in the Silverado 1500 as well as the midsizers. Toyota's 2.4 seems to be the most wild card of the three for the time being. They bet the farm on the 2.4 (and 3.4 V6 in Tundra) so my hope is they prove to be as sturdy as the outgoing V6/V8 were. Not sure if we're seeing that quite yet.
      From a preference standpoint in general, I'd spend my money on a Colorado or Canyon. They're my personal favorite given my own needs and tastes.

      @@OutMotorsports Thank you for the quick response. Long term Toyota fan, currently in a Ridgeline and happy with it for the most part. If we get a camper I would like something that can tow better and personally feel Toyota now offers the lowest value in the mid-size truck segment. Spend more, get less and it really pains me to say this as a long term customer.

    That vertical screen is too busy, unnatural, and takes your eyes from the road. That alone was enough for me to pass on the Ranger.

      I was a Chevy guy and wanted to hate the Ranger. I purchased a 2024 XLT FX4 and one of the best things on this truck is the infotainment center. It's split in 3 sections and works better then any vehicle I've ever owned. Oh. Ive been driving Chevys for 40 years. This I my first Ford product. Love it.
