lol I wouldn't say he invented "actual music" but he WAS technically the "Father" of modern quartet music. He essentially invented the quartet / made it popular.
Jorge Aguirre The 68 string quartets of Haydn - written over a period from c.1757 to 1803 - are one of the absolute pinnacles of western classical music.
In my modest opinion, the "Allegro moderato" is not enough "moderato". There is a 'cantabile' chrarcter in this allegro, which should demand to refrain hurrying up the tempo. But that is a minor point. I would like t underline the mastership of this quartett in interpretating Haydn's 'lark' quartet. They are absolutely awesome.
I've just compared other versions on YT, for example the Tatrai Quartet, and indeed this movement may not be played moderato enough, but personally I don't really mind, I think it's overall coherent musically speaking.
Maybe in this live performance by the same quartet, they play the first movement more moderato (I'm not really sure): th-cam.com/video/bwZv_q4q2_0/w-d-xo.html
I carefully listened the two versions, alternating the auditions, and it sems to me that they are coherent in the speed at which they play that first movement. But they are excellent, it is just a n issue of personal feeling.
Heheh, I think I know what this fellow means... The melody is so articulate, sing-songy: apt for, maybe, a whimsical little animation of some sort telling a bit of a story. Haydn's music, in its sophistication, feels sometimes like it bears semantic content... See Die Sieben Worte for a good application of this :)
I plan to make a playthrough of Fundy's RNG difficulty for Minecraft, and the fourth movement is the theme when I use water and lava to make a Nether Portal.

If Haydn would have only composed Quartets, he still would have been in the top 10 of the greatest composers of all time.
He was the one who invented actual music, you silly petroleum pupa.
