    I wanna add something -
    Lisa is a team carrier . Even in blackpink we all see her toning down her movements for the group to look more inline and collective. This her focus is constantly on how will the group look on stage . She even talks about the importance of a "centre performer" in the group in later episodes and how important they are as they make the group look collective.
    Here she's teaching class A , the "best voted" class which should have put on their best performance and not do it like ....meh. that's why she was disappointed and that's why she was strict. She has said in season 3 that her coaches who taught her dance were way worse and strict that she is and she doesn't want the trainees to lack in practice just because she was being kind and sweet. After practice she was very kind and even helps all of them and all had a great time.

    She also came out as very blunt because of the language barrier. She's Thai and speaks English, her English isn't perfect either and the trainees are Chinese who barely speak English.

    What a lot of people who didn’t watch the full show don’t know is that as soon as the class ended she would give the girls so much love, praises, and motivation. She gave them advice, gifts too. There were also a lot of moments where she was more lenient. But she was specifically tough during certain periods of the show because this isn’t just dance instruction, it’s a survival show meant to mimic the idol life. And in kpop, you get instructors that are 10x as brutal as her. So she just wants to prepare them for the tough reality.

    I had a class for piano for many years and a few years of learning dancing. All my teachers were tough, They always forced me a lot to practice then I could improve my skill. Music and Dancing can't be chill like others arts, if you want to be good at them you have to get through a lot of pressure. Good Music and Dance professor always be strict and have a lot of details. Only a Lazy one can let everything messing. It's more pressure when you have to coach the girls for competition performance like Lisa. She was so harsh to push her girls to be good on stage and she didn't care that people might look at her like she was mean because she had a good intentions for the girls.

    As a dancer on the age of 17, I get Lisa. Being perfect is actually needed to have nice details and dynamics. That's why I'll quote what she said "I think if we don't pay attention to details since the beginning, we'd fall into the loop of keeping on practicing wrongly. If so, why don't we correct the details since the beginning? Make sure it's right since the beginning."

    People were so salty about Lisa's mentoring, so I'm really appreciative that a professional is explaining and elaborating on why her actions are so important. Those who watched the show and have any inkling of what it takes to execute a project well would understand why she did what she did. You don't have to be a dancer to get it. At its core, it's just like managing any project or long-term goal that you need to learn and polish. It's not like her comments were baseless either, especially since the show took the liberty of highlighting mistakes for viewers. That just means bandwagon haters didn't even bother watching.

    13:07 I have never seen Lisa in a 'freeze frame' where she looks bad. Or caught in a moment where the freeze frame catches her with an awkward facial expression. She always looks GREAT!

    In arts like dance and music you definitely have to be strict because you are going to be on stage and you are going to be judged, this wasn't some fun beginners class at your local dance studio this was a nationally broadcasted survival competition to debut as an idol. Obviously if you are only doing dance as a hobby then your instructor can be a little more soft and lenient but they are preparing for a professional career in dance and music. I'm not a dancer but I was in choir for 7 years and all of my choir directors were really strict but I loved them for that because it pushed us to be better, in turn we ended up placing well in a lot of competitions! If you are going to perform and compete, you have to work hard and push yourself to be the best which means sometimes you need to hear harsh constructive criticisms but you can't take that stuff too personally because you can always fix it.

    in term that she quite picky to tell NINEONE for more "Feeling" because she is in group A (They divide them to A,B,C,D group A would get the most screen time and dance in the front and then break down accordingly) she has to dance upfront in the first row from about 100 girls in competition so she must be a "Perfect" one or an "Excellent" one. She can't slack anything off tho. if not the backlash would be more severe like "how the hell she got A" "If u can't even dance good why join idol survival program?" something like that.

    @Strawberries1994 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    People think this is "being a dick".. but people forget this is a professional setting, it's not friends having fun.. they are trying to be the best of the best to debut and succeed so you need to be prepared to feel the pressure of doing it right..
    Also, notice that Lisa never told them your are shit, you can't do it, you don't know how to dance or you are trash kind of thing.. she told them you are doing wrong, do it right(bc she know they can do it) they just need to train their brain and body, pay attention to the details...
    Also, off training we saw her being lovely and kind... strict is not being an asshole
    This applies to any professional setting, I'm a professional illustrator and my teacher told me "that looks bad" "that looks boring" "the perspective is off" "that hand looks like a hotdog" and things like that all the time xD

      Lolol. I am loving all the responses for this series. I remember hearing those things too when I was going to school for animation.
      I recently did the same with the artistic director of Temper Tantrum. He pitched me a couple songs for a routine we're doing for TV show and I told him it was boring, followed with some notes to give better direction.

      @iagreewithyou3478 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, and this isn't even just a mere college contest or a training camp you join for fun or to make memories, this is the BIGGEST break they might ever get in their lives. These girls are already "debuted" kinda but they didn't get much traction. Chinese entertainment industry is huuuge, believe it or not, and most of the time it relies on connections to get an opportunity to shine. Most of them already have experience. All of them even already have companies they're signed to. So it's unreasonable for them to not know the basics, esp something as simple as smiling. It doesn't have to be sincere even.

    Yup, some people who have commented on Lisa, and how firm she is, fail to understand that this isn't tiddlywinks - it's like the dance version of elite special forces and they HAVE to learn or, if they can't, they need to learn that they aren't up to it and find something else to do. It saves them and everyone else wasting their time, time that could be better spent elsewhere.
    As it is, they DID get much, much better and she was very supportive while also being strict.
    Also, remember, for these trainees having Lisa as a teacher is having their #1 idol speaking to then, and there are some endearing videos of very star-struck girls in total melt-down just being in the same room as her.

    This is the standard for any dance or gymnastics teacher to be completely honest. She is tough but this is the sort of thing you have in this high pressure performance based program, and I think the vast majority of dancers and gymnasts would have experienced much much worse.

    I really enjoyed this video and I hope you do more, it might build up to be your best series yet! Members get qualified in class A either bc they're good singers or dancers (or both). In the next season they considered both skills to be class A after the auditions but in this season it was unbalanced and some members in class A may be excellent singers but not good dancers

      Yes. I share my personal experience to what? Can you tell me? If not, it's ok if you're too annoyed. My style of reaction isn't for everyone. But if you haven't figured it out yet I share my personal experience to (1) empathize with Lisa since I'm a dance director myself and when I was a younger dancer and (2) to confirm that what's happening isn't just for reality TV and that it actually happens.
