I served for 14 years as a staff sergeant in the Federal Border Guard. I like this Battle dress; it looks very nice, but I had never seen an area with colour like the red-brown stains which is into the swamp-camouflage-pattern. Nevertheless it is useful in such an area in the autumn, but not in spring or summer. The BGS, founded as a para-military Police-troup 1951, was changed to the „Federal Police“ in the middle of the 2000th years approximately and lost its para-military character. During the existence of the BGS there were different kinds of Battle dresses. The first looks similiar the early Deutsche Wehrmacht Battle dress in dark-green colour. Later than there was created a dress in the style of the camouflage dress but in the colour grey-green. After this there was worn a complete „Sumpftarn“-battle dress; trousers, jacket and caps. After this all uniform pieces were dark-green exept the jacket and the coat (Parka). The Bundeswehr which was founded 1955 wore in the first years the „Splitter-Tarn“ battle dress. For German Field and areas the Splittertarn or the US-woodland camouflage was better suitable as „Sumpftarn“ in spring and summer. For snow wie had an special white Snow-shirt, made of thin material to pull it over the regular Battle dress. The East-german Soldiers had a better equipment for the winter season. They had an special warm Winter-battle dress inclusive Special boots and caps. The difference in clothes in the BGS summer / winter was the Parka only. The boots, like the Wehrmacht „Knobelbecher“ and the leatherette gloves not protected against cold. West-Germany did not learn from the experience in the WW2.
The wooden furniture FAL is an excellent choice with that sort of cammo. It blends in very well and yes the BGS did use the FN FAL as the G-1 before the G-3 was adopted. The BGS cammo was excellent in its design.
I really like this kind of your videos , the Effectiveness of the camo was nice , it is like a Adult game of Hide and seek ..lol. great work. thanks for sharing.
Will there be a video testing whether or not this pattern has any usefulness in a summer setting? Will you also be testing any German splittermuster, with some more green tones?
Can you do a video of the US Army's new OCP pattern ACU camouflage? They may be a little hard to find outside of post but I'm really interested in how it could differ from the Multicam pattern
+Lone Sousaphone Eventually, I actually picked up a set of trousers few weeks ago while I was on a Joint Reserve base in Fort Worth. They did not have a blouse in my size though. Eventually I'll go back there and hopefully they have my size in stock.

I've got a couple up. Feel free to take a look. My area is a little different than +brent0331's AO. I'd be interested in seeing him do one as well for comparison.
That's right, you do, I forgot you posted those. There you go bud, check out his videos on them, he even has a video which shows the differences up close.
I think its the most effective in tall grass lands near woods and border structures. Im from germany and i can tell you that near fields or small objects like border fences the environment has just the right color. Its sadly not that effective in normal woodland environments tho.
I spotted where you were every time with the exception of once. One thing I noticed that you do is set up the camera where your hiding spot is in the center of the frame. The human eye is naturally drawn to the center of an image. Try to hide more to the sides of the camera frame in future videos. This camo did do a good job in the environment.
Thx for a great channel and videos! How do u think will that camo be great in woodland areas with mixed woods oaks, pines etc? My father served in the soviet army in east germany and told me that bgs used that camo 4 seasons. Bgs chose propper backgrounds and used woven vegetation to blur sulhouette and that worked for 100%!
good videos, love the style, that you just show the pattern, without any opinion or ranking! But as a german i must say you, that you made a little Mistake ;) when you want to show the time of the second world war, you´ve should wear "Riding trousers", or in the time after the WW2 in Western germany they put the trousers over the boots, for better camouflage go on, making good videos!
im sorry,no link but you can go to royal tiger military gear, they sale the pattern, btw thanx for all the hard work you put into ur vids, myself im a die hard woodland marpat fan lol,but love all the dif paterrns you have.
Actually brother, the FAL is correct for this particular period of time. The BGS used FALs prior to the introduction of the G3 into service. www.google.com/search?q=german+bgs+camo&safe=off&biw=1366&bih=623&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiOkseg_uTKAhVGQSYKHWljDYAQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=DJrz4A6t3i0u-M%3A
Ah, interesting. I knew the FAL predates the G3 but didn't know it was used by the Germans as well at the time. Which do you prefer, by the way? I haven't shot either, but I'm leaning more towards the FAL from what I read.
+Xanatos712 Man lol, that is a debate that has been going on for a long time. I'm going to decline to answer that one lol. There are some videos on TH-cam that are dedicated to that very topic though, check them out. I will say that they're both great rifles though.
Nice ! i Love your vids but I have some questions First is a Assault Rifle very heavy ? 2 is the Rifle in tgis vid an FN FAL ? Make Mord vids i like this
+Jacob Carll Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to do that one brother. Real CADPAT as you probably know is difficult to come by. I had to buy reproductions to film that video. I will say though unlike the woodland versions, the desert CADPAT and desert MARPAT look very similar, so you can at least get an idea on how it would preform based on the video I've already done with desert MARPAT.
+Brent0331 yeahh i know what you mean. im in the RCN ( Royal Canadian Navy) and all our uniforms when we get out we have to bring back so it cuts down on "stolen valor" but even the reproduction version of CADPAT is still pretty good, really close the Combats we have but it fades like a bitch lol
I buy in 1990 new Sumpftarn Jackets, 30 DM , latest Charge to the Border Police BGS, but the Camo was a bit too bright in my Wood. I like it dark. P.S. In Your Wood the Camo was ok, in bright Grass its a high Effekt. I remember a female GB Soldier come close to me, in the Wood, 1 Meter, i wanted to say hallo, i looked her straight in the Face, she turnde and let her Pants down... I was laying in the Grass behind a Branch.
If you're looking for DPCU, check out "Brisbane Disposals" on facebook, they're selling it all for half price (~$80 for shirt and pants together). Measurements are in increments of 5cm (2inches). For shirts a 95R shirt is 95cm around the chest and the arms are a regular length (i am 6'1" and regular fit perfect), for pants a 95R pant is 95cm around the waist with regular inseam (R fit me perfect). Hope this helps :)
Btw, this is probably the best deal you're gonna find unless you want to wait another 2-3 years when AMCU will replace DPCU for our troops, they'll be dirt cheap then and come in all sizes i predict.
+Mr. SirKing Man I wish I could brother, I've spent way too much lately though. I have to cut myself off here for a bit. The pattern in this video someone loaned to me. I've got another video that I'll be posting soon (Chinese Arid Type 07) that I bought back during the spring time that I've been sitting on and waiting till winter. Anyway I've purchased some pretty big ticket items lately that are going to force me to tap the breaks on spending on camouflage for a little bit.
I heard the greek army had some special camo face paint for anti thermal. Anyone know how to get a hold of some? There are uniforms with special coatings to do this antithermal stuff, right? what do you have to shop for? whatsit called?
Not very effective. Found you within a couple of seconds each time. Not the first camo vid you've done for this to happen. Still enjoy these vids, though.
So this has turned into a nightly thing with my boys. They call it find the soldier. Great job thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching.

Quite an effective pattern in this woodland environment
I have to admit, those boots make that camo look badass.
The wooden furniture FAL is an excellent choice with that sort of cammo. It blends in very well and yes the BGS did use the FN FAL as the G-1 before the G-3 was adopted. The BGS cammo was excellent in its design.
My favorite camo next to multicam. I have a complete set including the zeltbahn and I wear a repro sniper smock in that pattern deer hunting.
hey bro another great pattern the Germans came up with some great patterns
Works good. The black boots helped me find you twice. another great video. thanks
it seems that this pattern is most effective in the sand / tan/ browns by the river bed. I wonder how this compares the German boarder regions.
Love this pattern, great video as always!
+Lancaster Hornet Thanks brother.
Great video. This is one of my favourite camos, good to see it put to use!
+MilitaryReviewsUK Thanks for watching.
I really like this kind of your videos , the Effectiveness of the camo was nice , it is like a Adult game of Hide and seek ..lol. great work. thanks for sharing.
+Rusty Nail Thanks brother.
your welcome.
wow you get one with the BGS Eagle and Bundesgrenzschutz Patch ,normal they cut it off when they sell it
a bit bright in sunlight, but its one of my favorite vintage patterns,
4:00 fuuuuck
You really did a good job there
You should try the Splintertarnmuster pattern as well
Will there be a video testing whether or not this pattern has any usefulness in a summer setting? Will you also be testing any German splittermuster, with some more green tones?
Curious to see it in summer
Can you do a video of the US Army's new OCP pattern ACU camouflage? They may be a little hard to find outside of post but I'm really interested in how it could differ from the Multicam pattern

It’s one of my favorites
in watching Brent0331 many videos, I keep coming to the conclusion that the best 3 color combo is: khaki, green, russet
I think its the most effective in tall grass lands near woods and border structures.
Im from germany and i can tell you that near fields or small objects like border fences the environment has just the right color.
Its sadly not that effective in normal woodland environments tho.
You should try a low light video wearing VC black pajamas or black BDUs.
+SecurityGuy42 Black is probably the worst drab color one can use as camo, even in darkness. But a video/review would be interesting!
waffenmacht
I agree black sucks for camo. But a video done to show the effectiveness (or lack of) would be useful.
Where did you find the pants i cant find them anywhere.
Thx for a great channel and videos! How do u think will that camo be great in woodland areas with mixed woods oaks, pines etc?

These videos are great and very helpful
+nenofury Glad you enjoyed.
awesome videos man these are really informative keep up the great work !
+R0ot Bear Thanks
good stuff! excellent camo. where do you get all your gear?
+Renaissance MarineTV A buddy of mine loaned me these to film this video. This particular pattern is extremely expensive from what I've seen.
IMA makes a repo if this pattern it's pretty damn expensive
that cammo would be perfect for NJ Pine Barrens
This pattern seems pretty effective for winter deciduous terrain
+Joachim Peiper I concur.
good videos, love the style, that you just show the pattern, without any opinion or ranking!

go on, making good videos!
+irminwin Thanks for the input.
I enjoy your videos. This camouflage pattern doesn't seem to be as effective as many others.
Quick question where do u get your camo uniforms at
+St4rGh0st619117 Where ever I can find stuff at a good price. This particular set was loaned to me to make this video.
+Brent0331 thanks
+St4rGh0st619117 No problem, I often find good surplus deals at Sportsmansguide.com and keepshooting.com.
Those pants are invisible? Coyote brown?
+bryceduckman25 They are more of a field gray or light olive.
+Brent0331 what brand or country of origin?
German.
***** The same era as the camo?
+BrownBessOwner Yes, West German wool trousers with membrane liners, 60's era.
good work.
love ur vids....when are u going to do some with some snake pattern camo,
+Ben Rose Snake pattern camo? I'm unfamiliar with that, do you have a link to some pictures?
im sorry,no link but you can go to royal tiger military gear, they sale the pattern, btw thanx for all the hard work you put into ur vids, myself im a die hard woodland marpat fan lol,but love all the dif paterrns you have.
thats correct,i meant kryptek, just forgot the name of the pattern...lol,check out royal tiger military gear, they have some great deals on bdu
+Ben Rose Yeah, their Highlander pattern would probably do wonders in his area.
concur with you on that,
Any plans on testing ww ii German splinter?
+Irishknightable Maybe sometime in the future but I haven't found a jacket yet for a good price.
one of my preferites
+Brent0331 Is that rifle new don't think I've seen it in past videos before?
+Karsten Lapointe No, in fact its been in many of my camo videos due to the numerous countries that had FALs in service.
+Brent0331 I'd have thought you'd be carrying your G3 for this vid, being German & all.
Actually brother, the FAL is correct for this particular period of time. The BGS used FALs prior to the introduction of the G3 into service. www.google.com/search?q=german+bgs+camo&safe=off&biw=1366&bih=623&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiOkseg_uTKAhVGQSYKHWljDYAQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=DJrz4A6t3i0u-M%3A

+Russel Jimmies It was loaned to me for the video.
+Brent0331 Oh, alright. Thanks for the reply.
+Russel Jimmies Thanks for watching.
+Brent0331 No problem, man. You make great videos.
Nice ! i Love your vids but I have some questions First is a Assault Rifle very heavy ? 2 is the Rifle in tgis vid an FN FAL ? Make Mord vids i like this
Most "assault rifles" are in the 7-9 pound range. And yes, the rifle featured n this vid is a FAL variant.
Okey danke
im ore of a ghilli guy but this is a excellent pattern and I would use it.
I loved your CADPAT video.( must be cause im canadian haha) ..but i was curious if you could one of ARID CADPAT, and maybe a comparison to MARPAT?
+Jacob Carll Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to be able to do that one brother. Real CADPAT as you probably know is difficult to come by. I had to buy reproductions to film that video. You should test SADF nutria brown, you can get it dirt cheap off of oldrepublicenterprises.com and it's also pretty affordable on eBay as well.
For Scharfschützen and Grenadiers since 1943.

Nice camo! Where'd you manage to get one? They seem pretty rare
They're in deed, I actually borrowed this pattern from a buddy of mine.
Do you get the uniforms from ebay? Nice video and it looks like a good camo pattern
+tititakos mitsakos A buddy loaned this set to me to film this.
Western or Eastern Camo
+Austin Michael West German.

Hi, nice movie but im sorry i see you all time except 3:58 there you are perfectly hidden. :)
+Przemysław Modzelewski I know exactly my thoughts.
4:06really good
Brent I have been thinking...... we need Drone Flage Man!!!
+rockstar1011 I think there's some videos out there on that very topic actually. I haven't looked in it.
+rockstar1011 whats that? Is that like anti thermal stuff from drones?
I assume that's what he was talking about.
+rockstar1011 Yep, the FLIR, I did see the Oath Keepers Suit that they made a video of.
I heard the greek army had some special camo face paint for anti thermal. Anyone know how to get a hold of some? There are uniforms with special coatings to do this antithermal stuff, right? what do you have to shop for? whatsit called?
this camo wasn't really as effective as others, in my own opinion.
love your videos brent0331
+malpractice80 Thank you sir.
I think this is what Karl from InRange wears
استمر
And 4:50
walking around with a fal
I see you :)
WAY more effective while moving than hiding. 5/10
Not very effective. Found you within a couple of seconds each time. Not the first camo vid you've done for this to happen. Still enjoy these vids, though.
