- I have just watched Normal People. Honestly, I liked the episodes showing their time in college much better, but I also enjoyed the parts where Marianne was being witty at school. The first few episodes are obviously more light-hearted in many ways. Marianne becomes much more silent as the show progresses. So, I wanted to bring together those initial funny moments of Marianne from the show.

I watched this series with my mother.
It's a great show, but having to sit through the sex scenes with your parent is just...harrowing.
Damn that's rough, I can't think of a worse show to watch with my mum. I felt awkward just watching it with my GF xD

However, there ARE several sex scenes, and if you're not comfortable with those to begin with, I guess you shouldn't watch it.

Of course right after that Eric takes his anger of rejection out on her calling her "an ugly flat chested bitch". He's an arsehole to begin with. If he truly wanted to ask her to the Debs he should have done so in private. I always had the feeling he asked her to make a joke in front of his friends and her rejected swung the humor back at him.

It is very strange to me how such a beautiful and smart girl would be bullied at school.
This was the first clip I ever saw of the show so I had to watch more and then the entire series. Great stuff altogether.

They are just so "Normal people". That really makes them so beautiful.

That's the way I always talked, but they were all very much less indulgent of a boy.

those are all people that bully her, so makes more sense in the show

I loved the start of that first episode with Marianne who's looking out of the window ( i did that too when i was young :-)). The teacher who wanted she gave attention to the lessons. And the student (Rob) who was sitting behind her and couldn't stop laughing with the situation. I loved that beginning scene. That triggered me to watch the show.
At that moment i couldn't know i would found Normal People so beautiful!
Daisy, Paul and the whole cast did a fantastic job! A show to never forget.

Harsh as it was it is now up to the "poor guy" to decide whether or not he will attempt it again. She's an "A" student and she made that point ... so what if she was looking out the window. She has been forced into adopting her defensive stance by smart arsed bullies and beats them at their own game. I could go on

Daisy Edgar Jones was about 21 when this was filmed and Paul Mescal about 24. Later on in the series they portray college students, so I don't think the casting was that far off. There are also a lot of pretty intimate scenes involving nudity, so to me it makes sense to cast slightly older actors.
Edit: I just discovered that the show was actually set in Ireland and they are actually Irish. I recognize that that's not how british teenagers look like.
