Hi, I was one of the 40 Australians to buy a new sportsman, took delivery on the 4th April 1970. I used it as intended putting many thousands of miles on the speedo , being young it was my only form of transport. The only trouble I ever had was with the coil ign so a magneto would make a better option methinks. Life brought changes as it does and I sold it for, what I thought was pretty good at the time, $750. They were about $100 cheaper then the Thruxton . Have I thought about selling since then ? Probably started thinking that the next day. I have a venom at present, unfortunately not the best example but still, there it is. VM6675C is still out there I believe residing somewhere in central NSW. Eric
Hi Eric great to hear the history of your Sportsman. If you go to the Velocette Rally in 2024 I would catch up with you. Not sure where you live now but I take the Velo's to a number of shows especially in the Northern part of the state
Perfection can't be replicated

There is a bit of contention here as Burlo,s salesman Bob Cox always said he put the Specs for the Sportsmen together.
I will leave that out there. Norm Burling is credited by placing the request and following it up with the orders
Correction; Burglars and Sinners.
Burglars and Stealers as I recall back in the day.
Have they made a modern fuel injected replica yet? with heated grips and doouble reverse twin cam ashtray ?
