Gosh, if you have issues with this method, just keep it moving! This is absolutely brilliant! Takes time to make cakes look perfect. I am one who HATES working with fondant as I am a buttercream girl, but this method yields flawless and beautiful cakes. Just look at the cakes on her cake page! FLAWLESS! Thanks for sharing Kara. As I tell you all the time, I appreciate the time and effort you take in sharing your knowledge. Awesome job.
Thank you toothlady! I too hated fondant. Took some time and trying several different approaches to find what works for me. And this one does. Happy to share!
Hi kara girl thank you thank you so so much you dnt knw how much you videos have helped me i came across you youtube videos after somuch of watching other clips i truly appreciate the effort and time you've taken in helping us novis bakes im a charity worker and all my stuff gets sold to help the less fortunate so me able to achieve that through youtube n you lovely ppl appreciate it in abundance thank you have a blessed day tc 🤗🎂
Thank you so much for showing us this. I was wondering if it’s just me, but is there no sound to this video? I’ve watch some of your others and you give such great verbal advice, but I’m not hearing anything on this one.
You mentioned that the fondant should be stiffened a bit, is that with gum paste? Do you have a recommended amount? would hate to have a great cake but can't cut it! Thanks for the tutorial, I tried the paneling method a few weeks ago, the front was fine, the back not so much. it was also a minion cake, so the top was domed, have any recommendations for doing that? Once again, thanks for your tutorial!
Hi, excellent tutorial. Could you tell me , if I use this method to cover a bucket shaped cake where the base or smaller than the top, would it work. Thank you.
I noticed you didn't freeze the fondant this time any reason why, any suggestions to covering the seam better. Great tutorial I appreciate this new technique for fondant I'm so intimidated by it. 😊
I had filmed this before I started freezing my panels, but freezing isn't always necessary if your fondant is stiff enough. To blend the seams you can take the same color of fondant and add a little warm water to make a paste. Use the paste with a small palette knife to seal the seam. Also rubbing a ball of fondant over the seam helps or working the seam with acetate. I hope that helps.
A little music would be good you know and also if your using buttercream instead of ganache should you still wet the side and the top so the fondant sticks?
I recently tried .. This technique which I loved the results of the cleanness .. Unfortunately my two tiered cake didn't make it.. I was completely destroyed .. I didn't add water since it was buttercream ? Did I got Wrong by not doing that ..I also had it stacked already when in the car .Wat would you recommend ? Overall I would love to continue using this method
Is it possible to panel on top of only cold Swiss meringue buttercream ? I have a client who doesn't like chocolate it gives them headaches go figure .
You can purchase from Tapplastics.com or contact a lady named Barb Fischer at imagebyroberts@yahoo.com and she will be able to help you with what you need.
There was no cake for the party..it fell apart.. I first noticed the bottom tier .. The fondant was pulling down where the seems met up.. Regular butter cream just butter powdered sugar

What is the surface that the fondant is rolled on?
Beautiful work 👏👏👏
Great tutorial thank you for sharing, will have to try this method Thank You for sharing!!!!

I use cornstarch to stiffen the fondant. I also place the rolled up panel in the freezer for about 5 minutes. No gum paste
I tried this technique on a 9’ square cake the end results were good but not great lol the corners were hell...any suggestions getting nice corners.
Have a video on paneling a square cake... have you seen it? Find it in my Cake Basics Playlist
Hi, excellent tutorial. Could you tell me , if I use this method to cover a bucket shaped cake where the base or smaller than the top, would it work. Thank you.
Just use a smaller acrylic on the top and a larger acrylic on the bottom. Works great!
Thanks will do.
Kara do you panel all of your cakes now to get the sharp edge?
I panel about 90% of my round or squared cakes

Yes, Thank you
Sift by Kara yes very helpful, thank you.

What kind of fondant did you use to roll? I find this won't work using Satin Ice, it just doesn't hold its shape. Is this Wilton?
Hi Esther in this video I did use Satin Ice black. Typically make my own fondant. Any fondant as long as it is bit stiffen should work.
Hi
Lovely video
When using the trex to finish do you warm it in your hands first and also can you taste it when you eat it ? X
Trex? Is that the same as the shortening I used? I did not warm it. And no obvious taste
+Sift by Kara hi yes we call vegetable shortening trex in the uk
I will have to give this a go x

What do you mean destroyed? What happened exactly? What kind of buttercream did you use?
Beautiful job!
Thank you!

Which method do you prefer?
What are you referring to? Which method to cover a cake with fondant? Paneling of course!
which fondant do you use please
Deborah Rabbett in this video I used satin ice black, but usually I make my own fondant... LMF.google it, Liz Marek Fondant.
Oh and what the difference between rolled out icing and fondant pls
There was no cake for the party..it fell apart.. I first noticed the bottom tier .. The fondant was pulling down where the seems met up.. Regular butter cream just butter powdered sugar
job well done
Took too long? Most great results come from taking your time and not minding the effort.
Oh PS lol buttercream bulged slightly, I see why you use ganache.
ok
your math is wrong as 6X3=18+2=20 not 21
Yes I see that.. thank you for pointing that out. but you get the idea
You welcome
Christine Elsbury It's *you're welcome ;) great tute Kara
