I absolutely love Hiromi’s way of making a standard(s) her own - this is an excellent case in point. However, watching Hiromi intact with the music as she plays is the ultimate experience. The silly cartoon visual accompanying this video is pathetic and does Hiromi’s genius a great disservice. Whoever is responsible for the promotion of Specturm ought to be doing some other job.
Perfect incorporation of both classical and jazz elements in this masterpiece!
After hearing Hiromi's rendition of "I Got Rhythm", I was hoping to hear her take on Rhapsody In Blue. I am not disappointed, I am blown away.
Hiromi is a super genius!
at 13:00 she's definitely quoting 'Behind Blue Eyes' but i think she's also quoting another song from 11:49 onwards. Does anyone know the name of it?🤔
That is also from Behind Blue Eyes - the bridge ("But my dreams they aren't as empty as my conscience seems to be...")
Behind Blue Eyes starts about 8 minutes in and is stretched out quite a bit. Coltrane’s “Blue Train” is quoted a little earlier.
5:49 Bach
