I think Torb is also a good counter against Kiriko. She takes a long time to break his turret, he can survive three headshots between armor reduction and Overload, his turret is good at defending against flanking Kirikos, he's not particularly bothered by Suzu and can zone enemies out of Kitsune Rush with Molten Core.

So she will be better in the hands of better players. (i mean obviously but she will be useless in the hands of lower elo players compared to other supp heroes imo) Below masters people have a harder time multitasking so this is my guess.

i think the fact that kiriko's fox actually interacts with the terrain is such a cool touch, just that small little thing alone is making me more and more excited for the detail that will hopefully go into this game
I just realized we have finally been given another support that is good to heal flying heroes such as Pharah and Echo. Mercy, obviously, is the best, but in lower ranks, especially on console, aim is out the window. Having a lock-on ability for her healing makes me so happy because it opens up more possibility for flying heroes to get healed (in lower ranks) without a Mercy on their team. Yes, Kiriko is high-skilled, but she can still be played at any level, it's just that high ranked players will get more value out of the Kiriko on their team

Low rank console Ana's struggle to hit their shots anyways and having to hit a flying target is almost impossible. Having a lock on system for another support like Kiriko is going to help with low rank console players. Her healing numbers are really good, and if the ofuda can travel to the flying target, they heal well. Zen is still really good, but many low rank players on console don't play Zen (at least from my experience) and low rank Brigs dont look up (from my experience). I also mentioned that Mercy is still really good in the beginning of my comment. My original comment mentioned console and low rank as well. Obviously, on PC, things are different but I am speaking on behalf of console players that are lower ranked

Zen isn't played a lot in those ranks because you need to aim to do dmg and get value out of the pick. And Brig's heal is inconsistant for a player out of her passive area. So Sergeant Seal is quite right about the Mercy thing he said.

I think she will not be very good at low ranks because there is a lot players need to think about and people in low ranks generally have bad aim and won't get much use out of her headshot multiplier.

Yes, ranking up with her is probably going to be extremely difficult, but players that are casual and low ranked can have fun with her and play her with flying heroes. Not everyone plays with a competitive mindset to win or get value out of the heroes they play. I am a more casual gamer, and so are my friends. I understand your point and I appreciate it, but I'm speaking from a low rank, console, casual player. I personally feel too many of the conversations about new Heroes are focused on the competitive aspect rather than just overall fun.

It is worth noting that when the swift step sense is set to 50% that represents the same lock on as ofuda set to 100%. If you have trouble hitting heals I would recommend turning the sense down as it makes it more intuitive to hit healing

I see a lot of people complaining about her being OP, but she's like Echo, Sojourn, Genji, and Ana. She's only OP when you get really good at her. High skill = high reward and I hope future characters are like that.

Honestly, this type of content should be for any hero in general. Specific actions and key bindings that would help you out even more, indipendently if you're a console or PC player. I would love to see more in depht analisys for all of them in the future since most of those type of tips are lost in the immense reach of TH-cam. This would be a fun series ngl PS: this would especially help (me in this case) to actually understand all the different options avaliable (like the sidestep sensitivity) since some of those are not fully explained. Maybe i'm a bit dumb, but some imputs are not that much intuitive

I've had this exact same thought and I would say : yes if both work on the same measurement. I mean, does the sens uses angle to the center of the teammate model or distance on the screen to the center? Same question for the lock-on.
If you need 100% the swift step and ofuda lock on zones the ofuda will have a smaller lock on compared to the swift step. So you could probably lower the swift step lock to more closely align with the heal. Only issue with that is you generally want your swift step to be as high as possible because you will be using it in frantic situations and you want that lock on zone to be forgiving. It's definitely something you could experiment with and see what works for you though

I could be wrong but I believe if kirikos ofuda lock on instantly, they go through shields and defense matrix, at least that has been my experience. But if you fire them and they are blue then they will be stopped

I think my favourite thing I learned during this is that the lock-on targetting on allies is for Swift Step and not Healing Ofuda. I thought it was for Healing Ofuda while watching all of this Kiriko gameplay until then. There are a couple more bits from here that I think would be great to go in a shorter bite-sized video or split into shorts even!

If you leave the Swift Step sensitivity at 50% any time you have a lock on a target your Healing Ofuda will also hit. You might not be able to peel out as easily but the trade off is you always know when your healing is on target.
I believe the reason that Mei's ice block doesn't block the Kitsune while the Ice Wall does is due to the Kitsune's ability to pathfind around corners and other small map obstacles, the block just isn't big enough.
One thing I noticed in testing about changing swift step sensitivity, is that at it’s default value it provides an accurate indication of weather her heal will lock onto a target or not. The range of both the lock on and swift step seem to be the same as does the default sensitivity of swift step and the lock on. As such for those new to her, it may be helpful to start out without raising her swift step sensitivity to help get a feeling for how her heal works.
15:50, important to note that you also can throw the Suzu downwards before you get dropped to protect yourself if there are no teammates or walls to splash it on.
A bit disappointing that someone who clearly has a weapon doesn't even use it for her melee attack. That's like if Genji just fist-bumped enemies instead of bringing out his blade. I just wish she stabbed or slashed with the kunai for a melee.
Basically, the susu is what they truely tested a while back, with the 1-3-2 experimental, where zarya could bubble a bunch of people at once. The interactions seem very similar as well.
Instead of 100% swiftstep... set it so that your Ofudas and swiftstep have the same target distance. Obv I don't know what SS% that is, but it would give a quick, easy, simple showing for if your ofudas will land, and still give you a decent range for SS (sure, not as massive, but if you're aiming your heals, you're likely aiming your step as well)
If you leave swift step targeting at 50% it makes it so you CAN use the swift step targeting box for whether or not you will hit your healing ofudas as it is where the targeting sizes match. Personally, I find this more useful than having a slightly easier to target swift step.

the primary secondary fire swap came naturally to me cause I did the same with Moira to match the hand she uses, same with Kiriko default weirded me out
I appreciate the second tip. I thought you are just stuck in healing until it ends and that it was just an inherent weakness. I lost quite a few fights because I needed to switch to damage and thought I had to wait. Very frustrating when you can't cancel it.

I don't like the way every new hero is everything-but-a-kitchen-sink. Well give Genji self-heals then. And a shield. What the hell?! I thought the point of many heroes was to balance uneven forces! Someone is absolute shield, someone is absolute DD, someone is absolute healer. And they help each-other. It's OW, not TES. You don't have to know every spell and be a swift stealth tank with a bow. It's ok to have up and down sides. The point is drama! The point is making a hero who's too good at something and too bad at something else. Very slow but a badass tank. Or an extremely fast one who's an annoyance more than a threat. Or a hero affecting the map, creating zones of buffs and debuffs like Lucio, changing the shape of maps, like Mei. Mediating everything makes the game boring. Like CoD. Same headshots, same medkits, same everything forever and most people enjoy that boring shit. Just because they only like what they know. And it's ok to please the audience. But OW's style is something new. It's about imagination unlimited, not mediocrity settled down. Otherwise all these words about "seeing the world for what it could be" become obsolete BS. Then make another faceless CoD shooter, make everyone equal and balanced and enjoy the game being more popular.

Hi ML7 just for information the Mei Ice block stop the Kitsune you were not enough near the ice block Potxeca (french streamer) show it you can it on his TH-cam channel
SVB found out the fox can climb anything that is below kiriko's height! if the obstacle is taller than her the ultimate will be blocked (which is why mei's ice block does NOT block the ult!)
At first day players was using kiriko now not so many are. Player's are saying she to complex to use some don't like her or rather use Moira and mercy . Also kiriko is getting a nerf soon I have played her and she's a cool character with a nice kit but only problem is. Her teleport cool down is to long and the fact she only can teleport once . From a far distance that put her in a situation of a choice to heal one critical DPS and let other DPS die. Her kunai is literally widow's maker sniper rifle It has insane range I have took off some heads across the map. Other than that she doesn't deserve a Nerf She should get some improvement Reduce her teleport cooldown Make her run faster same as equal to genji
Swift step at 50% makes lock on the heading same as the Swift step. 100% Swift step make it eaiser to TP but harder to heal. At 50% Tp needs more pressision. But the same lock on the TP and heading are the same

I believe the reason that Mei's ice block doesn't block the Kitsune while the Ice Wall does is due to the Kitsune's ability to pathfind around corners and other small map obstacles, the block just isn't big enough.

One thing I noticed in testing about changing swift step sensitivity, is that at it’s default value it provides an accurate indication of weather her heal will lock onto a target or not. The range of both the lock on and swift step seem to be the same as does the default sensitivity of swift step and the lock on. As such for those new to her, it may be helpful to start out without raising her swift step sensitivity to help get a feeling for how her heal works.

A bit disappointing that someone who clearly has a weapon doesn't even use it for her melee attack. That's like if Genji just fist-bumped enemies instead of bringing out his blade. I just wish she stabbed or slashed with the kunai for a melee.
Just like Doomfist who melees with his normal fist, not with the gauntlet.
Basically, the susu is what they truely tested a while back, with the 1-3-2 experimental, where zarya could bubble a bunch of people at once. The interactions seem very similar as well.
I can definitely see them adding one second or two to both of her abilities but other than that she seems very good and honestly balanced

Instead of 100% swiftstep... set it so that your Ofudas and swiftstep have the same target distance. Obv I don't know what SS% that is, but it would give a quick, easy, simple showing for if your ofudas will land, and still give you a decent range for SS (sure, not as massive, but if you're aiming your heals, you're likely aiming your step as well)
the target window is so small for ofudas though, i think it would lead to a lot of failed swift steps when having to do a quick flick to avoid death

I think she's gonna get a cooldown nerf on the teleport for sure. Though I hope we get more characters like her especially supports.
If you leave swift step targeting at 50% it makes it so you CAN use the swift step targeting box for whether or not you will hit your healing ofudas as it is where the targeting sizes match. Personally, I find this more useful than having a slightly easier to target swift step.

I appreciate the second tip. I thought you are just stuck in healing until it ends and that it was just an inherent weakness. I lost quite a few fights because I needed to switch to damage and thought I had to wait. Very frustrating when you can't cancel it.

I don't like the way every new hero is everything-but-a-kitchen-sink. Well give Genji self-heals then. And a shield. What the hell?! I thought the point of many heroes was to balance uneven forces! Someone is absolute shield, someone is absolute DD, someone is absolute healer. And they help each-other. It's OW, not TES. You don't have to know every spell and be a swift stealth tank with a bow. It's ok to have up and down sides. The point is drama! The point is making a hero who's too good at something and too bad at something else. Very slow but a badass tank. Or an extremely fast one who's an annoyance more than a threat. Or a hero affecting the map, creating zones of buffs and debuffs like Lucio, changing the shape of maps, like Mei. Mediating everything makes the game boring. Like CoD. Same headshots, same medkits, same everything forever and most people enjoy that boring shit. Just because they only like what they know. And it's ok to please the audience. But OW's style is something new. It's about imagination unlimited, not mediocrity settled down. Otherwise all these words about "seeing the world for what it could be" become obsolete BS. Then make another faceless CoD shooter, make everyone equal and balanced and enjoy the game being more popular.

Also her healing is about the same range as her teleport so you can use that to gauge whether or not you're in range to heal someone

Hi ML7 just for information the Mei Ice block stop the Kitsune you were not enough near the ice block Potxeca (french streamer) show it you can it on his TH-cam channel
SVB found out the fox can climb anything that is below kiriko's height! if the obstacle is taller than her the ultimate will be blocked (which is why mei's ice block does NOT block the ult!)
At first day players was using kiriko now not so many are.
Player's are saying she to complex to use some don't like her or rather use Moira and mercy . Also kiriko is getting a nerf soon
I have played her and she's a cool character with a nice kit but only problem is. Her teleport cool down is to long and the fact she only can teleport once .
From a far distance that put her in a situation of a choice to heal one critical DPS and let other DPS die.
Her kunai is literally widow's maker sniper rifle It has insane range

Swift step at 50% makes lock on the heading same as the Swift step. 100% Swift step make it eaiser to TP but harder to heal. At 50% Tp needs more pressision. But the same lock on the TP and heading are the same

kiriko has wall climb, tp, invulnerable grenade, buff on ult, free aim healing and her right click is just a hanzo arrow. very original not bloated at all actibliz.
Btw if you change swift step sensitivity it ruins the lock on for ofuda SO DONT CHANGE IT
