@@theivadim That has long been true, but I think it gets slightly less true each day. As Moore's law fades into the past, the rate of increase of speeds of GPUs has been declining. The improvement from the 1050,60,70 etc to the 20 series was about 50%, but the improvement to the 30 series was only about 30%, and the improvement to the 40 series was only about 20%. A 20% jump over the 2.5 year cycle is just not much, which is why so many people are still sporting older GPUs. My guess is that the 50 series will only be 15% faster than the 40 series, and we'll still see people running their 1080 Ti cards for years to come. That leads to the question of whether a CPU with enhancements to gaming, such as a 7800X3D can get more out of older video cards than you can get by just directly adding more GPU horsepower.
A good balance is always key🙂 As for the RTX 50 series, I think NVIDIA may surprise us with significant performance improvements if they feel threatened by AMD’s next-gen GPUs. This could be easy to achieve, especially considering the relatively small performance uplift of the RTX 40 series over the RTX 30 series in most segments, except for the very top cards (e.g., the RTX 4090).
I feel like you focus too hard on the small 2 to 3% drops on the GPU usage just know that Nvidia GPUs have more CPU driver overhead in general so that explains why you're seeing sometimes even drops to 89% it's absolutely normal. This CPU is more than enough for this type of GPU, It's fine with a RTX 4080 at 4K aswell. I am using this gpu with 7700x and it seems to be good combination. I wouldn't want to spend the extra for the 7800x3d and get a cheaper gpu. For the prize it sounded like the best match.
At 1080p sure. But even there that doesn't really matter since the GPU is not meant for that. I see a lot of people recommending 7600X for around this level of GPUs. Also I've never seen anyone else thinking that GPU load should be 100% at all times. You can still delete this video.

I just cannot extend my budget more. My monitor is 1440p capped at 120hz, so if i limit the frame rate to 120hz in games, will i still get the stutters you mentioned in the video ?
What kind of stutters are you referring to? I don't remember everything that happened in this video🙂 Are we talking about Cyberpunk with Crowd density maxed out? Then there's a simple fix. Just lower it to medium. No need to stress your CPU unnecessarily. I don't know if capping FPS helps because I haven't tried it. My educated guess would be - no, it won't help.
@@theivadim Thanks for the reply mate. Actually i dont have much knowledge about this. what I actaully wanted to know is what exactly happens if we are CPU limited ? We dont get the full potential of the graphic card and anything else with that ?
Having a weak CPU can cause all sorts of issues in games: stuttering, inconsistent performance, broken physics or AI, NPCs popping in and out of existence (Dragon's Dogma 2 is a good example of this), etc. In contrast, if your GPUs is weak then the worst thing that could happen is low FPS🙂
@@theivadim Capping frames using MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner can give you a completely flat line on the frame rate graph it may add a little latency but is fine for single player games or even chilled multiplayer with friends, I always try and get games to run at above 60 FPS 1% lows and then cap at 60 this way your completely smooth on game play, For Multiplayer competitive games you may require less latency but you can still get a great experience at higher frame rates, Trial and error needed to dial in the lowest latency your happy with in these cases.
I'd pair the 4070 Ti SUPER with Ryzen 7 7700X, 7800X3D or 9700X if you want to go for the newest. Although, Ryzen 9000 series doesn't offer much over the 7000 series. At least not in its current state.
If you're on AM4 then either 5700X3D or 5800X3D will do well. Of course, you can't expect the same experience you'd get with the 7800X3D. But I doubt you'll be disappointed.
I have my 4070ti super paired with an i9 10900 non k cpu. It does very well in 1440p no stutters. But when I connect it to my 4k tv I get a lot more stutters. Not sure if thats my cpu or just the fact its 4k. But seriously its so smooth in 1440p with basically full utilization of my gpu. Its not a bad experience but I am going to upgrade to 7800x3d still, for extra performance at 4k and a guarantee I wont be outdated anytime soon.
@@polyhedron4258 it depends on what exactly you are talking about. If we are targeting 60 FPS then driving 60 FPS at 4K puts more load on the CPU than 60 FPS at 1440p or 1080p. If the CPU is old or weak then your experience might be worse at higher resolutions at FPS levels you expect to play at. In this case, upgrading the CPU is the right move.
@@theivadim After a bit more reading, i realize lower resolution(gpu load) > faster frame render > higher fps ceiling from gpu bottleneck > more cpu load to deal with more gpu frames until it keeps up with gpu bottleneck If fps is fix to the same for all resolutions, cpu usage should increase with resolution because a 4k frame might have more things for cpu than a 1080p frame But anyway while cpu pgrade will still give gains if you run uncapped 4k gains from cpu upgrade are much lower than at 1080 or 1440.
@@UMADl3RO5 If you cap your fps using RTSS you can sacrifice some performance for smoothness, that might be a good stopgap solution until you can upgrade, i saw some warzone video for it a while back
I think the 7600X gets more FPS in games. So, expect less FPS in those CPU bottleneck scenarios. But I'll be very surprised if you won't be able to get consistent 60+ FPS. Actually, your 5950X will probably do better than the 7600X in games like Cyberpunk where you need a lot of CPU compute for NPCs.
I am looking for a gaming pc. But have a 144 hz 4k 32 inch monitor because of console. Will this monitor be a problem with image quality when you downscale games to 1440p resolution. Just want to know if the screen will be blurry or still he super sharp. Thanks 😊
Don't downscale to 1440p. Instead, use resolution upscaling like DLSS or FSR to upscale to 4K. This will provide good image quality and an overall enjoyable experience.
a whole bunch of nonsense in this test. In games at 2k and 4k there is a minimal difference in fps between razen 5 7600x and razen 7700x. This CPU may be too weak for 1080p because the lower the resolution the greater the pressure on the CPU. Looking at the instantaneous GPU usage in the game also does not tell anything because even on i7 14700k at 2k the GPU is not always loaded at 100%
the question is which one you want bottleneck cpu bottleneck gpu or gpu bottleneck cpu remember not all game intensive both of them cpu and gpu all game different optimized 1) some the game intensive cpu and gpu examples:Cyberpunk 2077 is both CPU and GPU intensive. the last of us part 1 pc gaming CPU intensive.

please please please test this setup on Helldivers 2 on level 7++ difficulty
I finished filming all content that I planned featuring the 4070 Ti SUPER and returned the card. There'll be no more videos featuring this GPU in the near future.
Bro your cpu is at over 80c so has some clock instability i have regular 7600 and did that with stock cooler, also cheap is not bad i got mine for 230$ and plays so far everything no problem, 7800 x3d is only way to go after this
Hey, how will the bottleneck be for i5 14600k?
I imagine that the performance will be not too different from the 7600X you see in this video.
So which one from amd is not doing the bottleneck.?
I'd pair the 4070 Ti SUPER with Ryzen 7 7700X, 7800X3D or 9700X if you want to go for the newest. Although, Ryzen 9000 series doesn't offer much over the 7000 series. At least not in its current state.
@@theivadim, how about the Ryzen 7 5800x3D. It's already too old for and 4070? I'm looking for and AM4.
If you're on AM4 then either 5700X3D or 5800X3D will do well. Of course, you can't expect the same experience you'd get with the 7800X3D. But I doubt you'll be disappointed.
7600x is around the same as the 5800x3d (more or less) and is faster than the 5950x so its not a slow cpu
This man ran in 4k with dlss and blamed the cpu for inconsistent frame time
I paired it with the Ryzen 5 5600. Works fine.
How much watts was your Powersource?
Id suggest probably moving to a 5700x
I have my 4070ti super paired with an i9 10900 non k cpu. It does very well in 1440p no stutters. But when I connect it to my 4k tv I get a lot more stutters. Not sure if thats my cpu or just the fact its 4k. But seriously its so smooth in 1440p with basically full utilization of my gpu. Its not a bad experience but I am going to upgrade to 7800x3d still, for extra performance at 4k and a guarantee I wont be outdated anytime soon.
It should be the opposite, cpu gets pushed harder at lower resolution
@@polyhedron4258 it depends on what exactly you are talking about. If we are targeting 60 FPS then driving 60 FPS at 4K puts more load on the CPU than 60 FPS at 1440p or 1080p. If the CPU is old or weak then your experience might be worse at higher resolutions at FPS levels you expect to play at. In this case, upgrading the CPU is the right move.
@@theivadim After a bit more reading, i realize
lower resolution(gpu load) > faster frame render > higher fps ceiling from gpu bottleneck > more cpu load to deal with more gpu frames until it keeps up with gpu bottleneck
If fps is fix to the same for all resolutions, cpu usage should increase with resolution because a 4k frame might have more things for cpu than a 1080p frame
But anyway while cpu pgrade will still give gains if you run uncapped 4k gains from cpu upgrade are much lower than at 1080 or 1440.
@@UMADl3RO5 If you cap your fps using RTSS you can sacrifice some performance for smoothness, that might be a good stopgap solution until you can upgrade, i saw some warzone video for it a while back
@@theivadim my exact thoughts behind this decision. Thank you for that, I cant wait to upgrade and see the difference.
Just did the opposite: paired a ryzen 7 with a geforce 1050. Good times!
It's all good as long as your PC does what you need it to do🙂
gracias for the content; if i am on am4 5950x and use a 3060ti 8gb would i be able to take advantage of the 4070 ti super or will it be bottlenecked
R5 7600X is enough for this card at 1440p&4k.
O neeed this vídeo!!!!

What about 7600x3d
I’m not sure. I haven’t had the pleasure of testing the 7600X3D yet.
boy thats a hot cpu
a whole bunch of nonsense in this test. In games at 2k and 4k there is a minimal difference in fps between razen 5 7600x and razen 7700x. This CPU may be too weak for 1080p because the lower the resolution the greater the pressure on the CPU. Looking at the instantaneous GPU usage in the game also does not tell anything because even on i7 14700k at 2k the GPU is not always loaded at 100%
Cyber Shit is a mess. Glad I never wasted my money on that pile.
I was using a i4790 with a 7900xtx😂 for two years on a 1080p
i7 4790 is a powerful CPU but RX 7900 XTX is obsolete.
@@mikymouse75257900xtx is a beast of a card, how it become obsolete, Are you from future broo ??? It’s 2024 here
Get a 2k monitor, upgrade the cpu if needed and play at higher resolutions. Stop wasting the potential of the card.
@@ankitprasad9654 yes i was using past tense if you noticed. current setup is a 7800x3d with 2k monitor with it

the question is which one you want bottleneck
cpu bottleneck gpu or gpu bottleneck cpu
remember not all game intensive both of them cpu and gpu
all game different optimized
1) some the game intensive cpu and gpu
examples:Cyberpunk 2077 is both CPU and GPU intensive.
the last of us part 1 pc gaming CPU intensive.

7600X perfectly fine for 1440p so does 4K. Since the 4070ti super is a 1440p/capable of 4K card. That's a perfect combo. Upgrade path: 7800X3D
However. The 4070ti super have a pretty bad price/performance value. Would get a 4080super for the price gap. Or 7900XTX
