Squeeze The Elbows for Improved Ball Striking

  • Topping and thinning the ball can cause extreme frustration for regular golfers. The inability to manage the RADIUS of the swing is one of the most common faults displayed by amateur golfers, especially in higher handicap players.
    Conversely, the BEST players manage their swing radius far more effectively, and in doing so, are able to demonstrate more consistent ball striking and greater power in their shots.
    Radius management is really just elbow and arm management. Keeping the elbows close together throughout the swing will help you improve your radius control and your ball striking quality and consistency instantly! Using an object between your arms when you practice can help you to really FEEL the correct tension in your arms and help you master this movement more quickly.

    This video was such a good reminder for me. I was struggling with inconsistent contact chipping around the green (fat and thin). Watched this and re-focused on squeezing my elbows - it has helped tremendously! Last two rounds I had no "duffs" around the green. Sometimes a simple reminder is a really good thing. Thanks Rob!

    I have been following your stack and tilt but for me the most important is keeping my elbows in. An enormous benefit for my ball striking

    I got the ball/lanyard thingy which ingrains the close elbows. I bought it for $8.99 from Amazon. It helped me get crispy contact

    Hi Rob, nice to see you back! Even though you've had no major comments regarding my pivot during the lessons, there is probably room for improvement as I struggle to squeeze the ball at the top of my backswing. A great drill for me.

    I have actually been doing this drill a lot recently. It has really helped my ball striking. Some of the smash factor numbers I am getting with mid/long irons are crazy. I am fortunate enough to have a GC Quad to measure this data. I did notice you mentioned "loose" wrists? While doing the arms together (with a ball) drill, I have also been consciously working on keeping my right wrist back through and beyond impact (so my wrists are not loose). Isn't the wrist remaining back a major key to good ball striking?

    Hi Rob I love your content and it is improving my game.
    However I struggle to understand the concept that at impact ( for a draw) the club face is slightly open to the target line and at the same time slightly closed to the swing path. I can't visualise it. Do you have a video on this or a diagram of what it looks like. I hope you can assist me with this.

    Hi Rob, my elbow joints are such that at address my forearms are only an inch or so apart. When I use the Watson ball it forces my arms apart, I'm not sure which position I should adopt. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Great to see you back BTW!

    Squeezing anything in golf is not a great idea. Just my opinion. Does not make me correct.

    • @timothyslaughter476
      @timothyslaughter476 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@golftecasia clever...lol....not flying around but not squeezing either. It's a personal thing.

    • @timothyslaughter476
      @timothyslaughter476 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@golftecasia no doubt. Got to keep the triangle together but I see alot of players told to squeeze the elbows get really locked up. As nicklaus said....motion over mechanics. So a happy medium is probably best. Anyway....enjoy the masters.. still my favorite sporting event of the year.
