    Eminem’s skin color helps as much as it hurts him - people don’t give him the respect he deserves because of his skin yet he also tapped into a larger audience because of his skin

  • @evanmotl7385
    @evanmotl7385 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +69

    When you reference that it’s surprising Eminem would admit his skin color has its advantages because of what he usually pushes back against. Eminem would always acknowledge his skin color has excelled his monetary success by a shit load. But nowadays people dismiss Eminem’s SKILL for his skin color, which is bullshit. People say, “Eminem can’t be the best rapper ever, he’s white”. If people said, “he’s only as popular he is because he is white”, people would take less issue with that.

      Nowdays? Bruh.. it’s been a thing since day 1. People hated on dre for taking on a whiteboy and then em blew. People still hated on him for being white. He often talks about his priv and acknowledged it

      @@JohanHultin I didn’t say nowadays to negate what happened in the past, just emphasizing current times because her opinion was about current Eminem. No doubt, people have always diminished his skill because of his skin color

      I agree with Em when he said if he were Black he would have sold half. Of course, even if he sold half he would have still been in the top 5 most successful rappers of all time.

    • @kyptokrit1630
      @kyptokrit1630 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, being white helped elevate everyone's sales in rap, but they only want to talk about it elevating him.

    • @Trickishard
      @Trickishard 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MiddleAgedBobwould he have sold half bcuz most people who listened to rap were black and black people are not the majority of america? That’s kinda how it works. If theres a white rapper, white people and everyone else will listen to him. And since white people are the majority in america, he’ll get popular. But it’s important to know that literally every other biggest rappers are black lol

    This song is a testament to how big Eminem was/is. This song basically called out the government and they came after him at any opportunity to get his music stopped etc and cancel him and we clearly saw who won those battles when the man only just recently was added to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. I still remember the day watching MTV and seeing this bleach blonde white tee wearing dude come on rapping about him being the real slim shady and loving dafuq out of it lol

  • @MrMightyMouse
    @MrMightyMouse 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    This was off his 2nd or 3rd album I believe, after he had blown up and congress was literally investigating him as a scapegoat for being a "bad influence" on the kids. They've tried to cancel Eminem for basically his entire career.

    honestly girl it’s the reason i fw him so much. he’s never been shy to admit that he had an advantage in this game because he was white and that meant more consumers. hes helped this game as much as this game helped him. he dropped a track called untouchable which i think you should defo do, it has a wacky beat at the beginning and it’s on purpose but the 2nd half is incredible. he’s BEEN speaking up for black americans and never been shy to talk ab racism even if it caused sm controversy cus he uses his platform for the better. also ur stunning 😍😚

    He "would have sold half" cause half of the people following rap wouldn't had been following still if they weren't influenced the way he did it being white. Facts. He's never been a hypocrite. At the same time skin colour is the reason people wont put him on no1 even though he is the GOAT. Btw the song you re talking about in the beginning about Em vs Bush is Mosh one of his greatest. No one else of his level has spoken out like this.

    I agree with you all, he's acknowledged that his complexion has helped (though that's tough too, since Hip-Hop was blowing up). But there's another edge on that sword, it's also the same thing that brought heat to him, not only from other artists and gatekeepers... but from friggin Congress. And not because White kids listened to him, but because middle-class White kids did. Ludacris, same time period, got away with a lot and "White America" loved Chicken and Beer!

Here are some must-react ones: We made you (official music video), Ass like that (possibly the dirty version), Marshall Mathers (of course lyrics video), Same song and dance (lyrics video), Guilty conscience (dirty version), D12 featuring Eminem - My band (dirty version), Eminem, Tech Nine, Krizz Kaliko - Speedom (of course lyric video). Unfortunately the lyric video is incorrect during the outro of the song. The lyrics on the video say "casket" but he actually says "burn the flag and replace it with a parental advisory sticker"
    The word "flag" was censored, even on the uncensored version of the album.

    His monetary success withinthe suburbs, but nobody signed him for years because of his skin color. Even when Dre signed him people around Dre said "we can't sign the white boy" but Dre said nah he's too good. Yes, he's saying if he was black he would've sold half. People need to understand that if he'd only sold half, it'd be a shitload still! Any rapper wish he could sell half of what Em does.
    Plus his pigment plays against him on the genre, which is total bs. These naysayers should realise how little hiphop would mean without him. He made the whole world aware of hiphop. He birthed the rappers in different continents.

    It’s not that being different colors gives you advantages. It’s the white people are the majority. We are the minority. How dare we try to say that’s wrong because the similarities in the hood is what’s keeping us down

    Yeah being white definitely helped him sell alot more at that time cause' it was a popular thing to say ,"I don't like rap but I love Eminem"
    Many of his fans weren't even fans of the genre they were white kids, so yes ,being white worked against him at the beginning, but when he finally got signed it helped him sell more, but his talent and ability to reinvent himself, his music ,his voice and his Lyricism, passion for the craft, ability to captivate and connect emotionally kept him afloat ,if not he would have ended like vanilla ice and the other white guys that came b4 him. That you probably never heard of, lol and by the way half of all em has sold still keeps him at number 1😂😂 he is almost a 100million above the next person and the biggest international rapper in Africa according to Deezer. He sells out stadiums in South Africa like it's nothing over and over.
