Because it woke up a few years ago and fired off beams that killed his father and other successors, so he rose to power despite being an illegitimate son and not knowing his father a few years back. Bahamut was also taken down by unity between gods and Demons. So he wants to kill it for good without help from 2 factions since Humanity can only move forward without their help. Season 2 also has twice the episode compared to season 1 but the plot is all over the place.

Someone should make a Love Triangle in Anime, a good King and good Terrorist leader are in love with a same girl - the girl is a villain and wants to kill both of them. x'D
