Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience on what is out there as far as sizes go. Especially when ordering online. You are right it can be so frustrating. Love, love, love this episode. I learned so much from you both. I am in my early 70's and get so frustrated with what is out there. Especially the material clothes are made out now a days. I really enjoy your videos. ⚘️
Thank you so much for your very kind words and for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed this and we’ll definitely do an episode about quality fabrics next. 🥰
I'm a contemporary 40 Italian size and I bought so many times 46 vintage size. That means 3 sizes bigger than usual. I love searching for little treasures in flea market. Not only clothes but even jewelleries and accessories. Of course you know the "power" of a vintage brooch on a blazer. But when I tried to wear those vintage gloves....uh. Their bones were so tiny. There are some genetic changements during the decades. You perfectly said in the opening of the video. We are bigger than in the past. Vintage fabrics: this is a wonderful world. ❤ Greetings from Italy.
Thank you so much for watching! I just returned from Florence and Rome last night and will share some new treasures. So many beautiful things in your country❤️
Interesting conversation! Thanks for sharing! I don't buy second hand/vintage clothes - I would love to, but no such stores where I live, but I let a seamstress repair my clothes for as long as it can be done. I rather buy long-lasting good quality-clothes, than mass-produced bad quality clothes... Love your channel - all the way from Sweden! 🤩
Hello Sweden, Thank you so much for watching! (My great grandmother was Swedish)Buying good quality the first time around is half the battle! Good for you🥰
Hi Ladies, thank you, lovely sitting here listening to you both chat, very interesting subject and so true todays sizing is crazy from one shop to another. If ordering online I buy two dress sizes and keep the one that fits and send the other back, this is permitted here, on the return form there is a box to tick which says did you order multiples. Take care.
It’s a common practice to do that here too. With vintage you definitely can’t buy 2 dresses as they’re one of a kind. Hope you’re having a wonderful week!
You are so correct about the changes in eating habits over the past few decades. I can remember when a six-ounce Coke was a typical serving size and there was no super-sizing at the burger joint. Thanks for the interesting conversation and the information on sizes.
Wow! My sister in law is Chinese and she had an aunt with bound feet! Can’t even imagine 😬We’ve done a lot of crazy things to our bodies in the name of fashion and trends!
Great information matching where my train of thought has been going with my sizing. I enjoyed the bits of history too! Ted would be lucky to have you give a talk. Thank you!
Planned obsolescence is so true. I bought "100 year" night lights about 30 years ago and they are still working with the original bulbs. About 10 years after ordering the first of them I thought I would buy some more. They were out of business. I wasn't surprised by that in the least. 😀
I look at some of my clothes I've kept; I'm 62. (wow that sounds old!) Anyway I have some jeans size 6 & the waist is soooooo small!!! Also my (late) Mom born in 1938 has lots of her vintage clothes stored and a size 6 or 8 looks like a 2. It's amazing the difference!!!!
Not only do I shop at Swish fairly regularly, I also buy a fair amount of fitness clothing and I work at at bike shop and sell cycling apparel. Adding to the inconsistency in size charts over time is the issue of the type of fit (relaxed fit, regular fit, pro fit and next-to-skin fit). Each of those fit types have a different amount of ease from positive ease in relaxed fit, very little or no ease in regular fit, negative ease in pro fit. Fashion clothing can have different amounts of ease as well and it can affect sizing . It still doesn't explain the Mother jeans fit conundrum.
I find that inexpensive clothes are sized much smaller than quality stores lately. I just bought a number of things from thred up and the things from cheap stores were marked the same size as the fancier stores. they really didn't fit me, bummer.
i used to wear kilts when i was young. i wore my mom's from when she was in college when i was in high school. it was so cool in the 80's. perfect. wish i still had it. my daughter was never slim like i was though. she's always been big and thick like her dad.
my mom said if you don't wear small shoes your feet will grow. my mom said if you don't wear a bra, you will have hang downs. lol. i don't wear a bra most days. i wear big comfortable shoes now. my podiatrist says my feet were ruined from the shoes my mom put me in.

P.S. My wife Singapore-born wife had an aunt with bound feet while growing up in the 50s. She tells me the aunt moved pretty well on her tiny feet.

Oh no! That’s too bad but also so common😞
@@swishvintagefindsforyoursa6094 I was bummed out about it. But it has been 20 years since then, so I am almost over the disappointment. 🤣
This was a great video. Looking forward to the fabric video (Ted Talk). 🥰
Thank you! Coming up next❤️

It’s definitely shocking when we compare sizes!

Right???? Your industry definitely has more consistent explanations on sizes! 🥰
If I could fit into a 28 waist, it would be like winning the lotto. 🤣
💜😊

i try to buy men's pants. they have good pockets. they are taller and you know the waist size better than a women's pant.
