Back then drives didn't have to dive out of the way when they were being lapped. It was the responsibility of the driver lapping to get past. Drivers are spoiled these days, lapping used to be an art now it's just blue flags and get off the road.

Never liked Hill because of stuff like this and his moaning. All Schumacher haters/Hill lovers say that Schumacher doesn't deserve the 1994 title because of the incident in Adelaide, but let's not forget that Schumacher didn't participate in 2 races (Hill was one of the people moaning about the Benetton and stuff if I'm correct) and got disqualified in another 2 races (which were justified in my opinion, the one in Great Britain is still debatable) and Hill still couldn't manage to get in front of him by the end of the season. Looks clear to me who is the deserved '94 champ is... in 1995 Hill just got outclassed by Schumacher and decided to work out his frustration on Schumacher's rear wing in Britain and Italy (both of them were clearly his fault). As for 94 when Shumacher became champion for the first time I still don't agree that Shumacher was totally to blame, he went off the road and damaged his car then came back on track, Shumacher then had to take the corner, if only Hill had waited a few more corners then Hill would have won.

Where were the blue flags? Seeing as Hill held up Schumacher for an entire lap, that should've at least been some form of penalty.
Back then drives didn't have to dive out of the way when they were being lapped. It was the responsibility of the driver lapping to get past. Drivers are spoiled these days, lapping used to be an art now it's just blue flags and get off the road.

Scuhmi didn't cheat his way to the 94 title. He was leading by 40 points before he was unfairly banned for 3 races. I don't care what anyone says the stewards were against Schumacher in 94 and Schumi should have won by absolute miles. Two words: Flavio Briatore. There's no way he wouldn't resort to cheating if his team stood a chance of a title. Although he may have simply been disillusioned, Aryton Senna was also convinced that Benetton were using traction control at the beginning of the season.

95% of the time, Hill was always a great sportsman. He just wanted to show Schumacher how other drivers felt when he pulled all his dirty tricks. He did the same at Montreal 98. Doesn't change the fact what Hill did was bad, but he had a point ;)

Never liked Hill because of stuff like this and his moaning. All Schumacher haters/Hill lovers say that Schumacher doesn't deserve the 1994 title because of the incident in Adelaide, but let's not forget that Schumacher didn't participate in 2 races (Hill was one of the people moaning about the Benetton and stuff if I'm correct) and got disqualified in another 2 races (which were justified in my opinion, the one in Great Britain is still debatable) and Hill still couldn't manage to get in front of him by the end of the season. Looks clear to me who is the deserved '94 champ is... in 1995 Hill just got outclassed by Schumacher and decided to work out his frustration on Schumacher's rear wing in Britain and Italy (both of them were clearly his fault). Finally got a title in 1996 because Schumacher was brave enough to move teams, putting Hill in a dominant car which resulted in him having his unexperienced rookie teammate Villeneuve as his only championship rival. After that he only got in the news again because of a lucky win in Spa '98, which can happen ofc, and stupid things like this. You won't hear me say that he's a bad driver but I don't think he's a worthy champion.

To be honest, I don’t care at all about anybody’s opinions and I don’t expect anybody to care about mine. Opinions don’t mean anything, facts do.
And the facts are Hill haven’t had preferences, Schumacher had a team built around him, Hill has nearly won a race (and came second) even in one of the worst cars in the DRY, Schumacher even failed to win a normal race even in Rory Byrne constructed car in 2005, let alone to win in Mercedes (which was still not as bad as Arrows) at all. So what is so wrong with Hill? If he is not a worthy champion, than most of the champions are not worthy. Schumacher especially.
The people, who talk about Hill’s great car, forget the fact that after active suspensions and traction controls era, Rory Byrn’s cars have won seven constructors championships until his retirement, and Adrian Newey’s cars have just won four in that same period. So I wouldn’t even start to talk about other drivers good cars, if I was a Schumacher fan.

You believe the car is more important than the driver, I presume? I believe it's the exact opposite. Schumacher was a champion and he got a very good car, Vettel is a champion and he got a very good car, and the same goes for Alonso, Raikkonen, Senna, it's a long list. Hill got a very good car and he could not win the title except for 1996. In 1994 and 1995 he was s**t, while the Williams was very good. And 1999 is perhaps the best example: Jordan was capable of getting podiums and even race wins, but Hill f**ked up badly that season.
Agreed: Schumacher didn't do fantastic at Mercedes, but would you really expect someone with the 4th best car of the field to go ahead and get podiums? I know I don't. The 2010 Merc wasn't good and the 2011 Merc was absolute s**t. What matters is that he did have some great races, while Hill didn't in his final season. Canada 2011 was one of the best races I've ever seen from Schumacher. He took that shitty Mercedes car, was clearly the fastest, took it to 2nd place and eventually finished 4th because the track became dry, causing him to lose the advantage he had. In 2012 he was very unlucky. I don't know if you watched that season, but the Merc was a good car in the 1st few races... and it became s**t afterwards. During those first few races, Schumacher was incredibly unlucky, just check the race reports. And he still managed to get a podium, at age 43. Hill couldn't do that in a better car at age 39...

What's also funny is that Hill let Frentzen by really quickly but not exactly in a sporting way either. Went off the gas suddenly and unexpectedly in such a way that, had Frentzen not been paying attention, a collision was a realistic possibility here. Which funnily enough actually happened between Coulthard and Schumacher in a race that gave the win to Hill.

Incredible driver, such a shame his legacy in the eyes of most actual fans of F1 is so tainted by his cheating (assuming you aren't German or a Ferrari fan..) If this was any other driver being held up like that I'd be like nooo but that just made me smile.

Schumi was dominating that race, driving brilliantly in the difficult conditions. he built up an enormous lead and crashing into a backmarker who was being lapped was certainly not the plan. the visibility was very bad and it was an unfortunate incident. i can understand his frustration afterwards especialy when that win could have made the difference in the championship. oh and btw dont forget he was disqualified in 97

Totally acceptable, really. just go too wide and hit the wall all on your own, and then once you have damage that will DNF your car and the only other person who can mathematically take the title from you tries to pass, you turn into them to DNF their car as well.
