For some reason when you run the /locate command, it only takes the structures in your quadrant(+,-) into account, so to bypass this you can use the /tp command and teleport yourself to the exact middle of the world where you aren’t in any specific quadrant

NETHER TO OVERWORLD SOLUTION REK if you want advice for why you didn't consistently get into the stronghold in the exact same coordinates, when you shift on the edge of the obsidian, you go to to a different location in the overword, this is because it counts your position as on a different block but still let's you travel through dimensions. baconwaffles's void trap video on lifesteal explains it aswell

he reason why your portal going to the strong hold wasn't the same is because of your position on the portal. if you are standing on the edge of the portal block it could spawn somewhere different then if you were to stand in the middle.
