    Like a ship crashing into big waves, fighting to stay afloat. Every scream against the waves. Every scream against the crushing distortion and the dense beat of drums.

    For those that do not know, half the crowd didn’t know what hit them because this is the Netherlands premier indie festival, usual bands that play here are like 21 pilots or the Gorillaz. Fantastic performance btw.

      prepare for probably the most intense concert experience you can witness. it can be almost life-changing... saw amenra three times this year so far and i need days to reflect on what they are doing with me every time i see them. on stage they are simply not of this world...

    • @chronic_johnson_a.r.a.b
      @chronic_johnson_a.r.a.b 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      GodsColdHands I can only imagine. I could see it being the 2nd side of one coin, of which Sigur Rós was the first side. Both surreal experiences beyond that of just a concert.

      Jesse Lapham - i see what you mean and i'm totally aware of sigur ros being also quite an exceptional band, they are just not mine.
      if you get the chance to talk with colin or other members of amenra for a few minutes, do it. they are all such nice, respectful and humble guys. even their merch guy is a really nice and cool dude.

    i really think the reason he doesn’t face the audience is cause he wants u to focus on the rest of the band. if this was solely instrumental it would still slap🔥🔥🔥

    • @matsverschueren7976
      @matsverschueren7976 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      indeed.
      He always said it in interviews that he wants to pull away focus from the 'lead singer'.
      Because lead singers always get all attention, this is not what Amenra stands for.
      Their quote on their shirts means: Stronger through friendship
      They are a whole and no one is bigger than the other

    Heb deze band 15 jaar geleden al eens live gezien. Toen stond de zanger al met zijn rug naar het publiek. Vond dit toen hoogst irritant, kan iemand mij uitleggen waarom hij dit doet want ik zal de 'clou' wel niet snappen...

    • @RobbieNevens
      @RobbieNevens 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Omdat hij niet het belangrijkste is aan het optreden, maar wel de muziek an sich. Amenra is een totaalbeleving. Zo zal je ze ook nooit tussen liedjes in hen een dankwoord horen zeggen, om de "flow" niet te onderbreken. Velen vinden dit misschien maar niets en onvriendelijk, maar ik vind het persoonlijk een verademing. Pure muziek, dat is waar het om draait.

    • @JDSsmetje

      Hij shift continu tussen licht en duisternis. Letterlijk dan.

    • @erikterwal
      @erikterwal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dit is gewoon hoe hij het wilt doen. Het is voor hem een soort trance, en hij begint voor de show al aan de voorbereiding.
      Overigens staat hij regelmatig zelf aan de merchtafel. Een aantal jaren terug vroeg ik hem nog na de show hoe het ging en of hij tevreden was met het optreden. Het viel hem wat tegen omdat hij er naar eigen zeggen niet helemaal in kon komen.
      Dit geeft dus aan dat de trance, de concentratie en de beleving voor hem minstens zo belangrijk is als voor het publiek. Geloof mij, hij doet het echt niet uit disrespect voor het publiek :)

    Does Colin's back tattoo have meaning? What is that symbol?

    • @godscoldhands77
      @godscoldhands77 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      askingforafriend - it's a symbol colin created, consisting of three other existing symbols. first one is the tau cross, which was the very first cross to crucify human beings. in the old jerusalem it was also used for 'goodhearted' people on the one hand and people who didn't have a good heart on the other hand. but i don't know if people were marked with that cross or how it was used exactly for that purpose. second one is the 'todesrune' (death-rune), the opposite to 'lebensrune' (life-rune), which colin describes as a symbol of death and the certainty of death for him. death is very important in his life, because no male in his family did ever get older than 50 years. they all died before or at the age of 50. he's totally aware of that he might got only a few years left until it's over for him, too. the third used symbol is an upside down gallow, which he describes as a symbol of shelter for his family, especially for his twin sons. colin also cut off both of his nipples a few years ago and get them preserved as a gift for his twin sons, so that they have still left a part of his body when he's gone - a part of the body his sons were made of. he said that he also could have cut off a finger or something else, but his nipples were the only parts of his body that made really sense to him.

    • @markvserik
      @markvserik 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow thank you for that very elaborate answer, so there is definitely a lot of meaning behind the tattoo. Do you know why no male in his family has lived passed 50? How did they all die? That cutting your own nipples off is some intense shit! I probably would not want anyone's body parts though, no matter how much I loved them.

    • @peschi79
      @peschi79 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      askingforafriend - those explanations were all detailed in an interview Colin did some years back by "PrettyInNoiseTV" (it's here on YT), he talks about the tattoos and a few other topics. Well worth watching.

    • @peschi79
      @peschi79 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My friend Aline Gorsen, a "memento mori" artist was the one who preserved Colin's nipples for him. She also prepared the stones that were later hung from hooks on Colin's body while he performed at the Mass VI release show. I was lucky enough to be at that show. Intense is an understatement!

      Sergio Diez Viñuela you do know millennial can be used as a descriptive term; rather than be used to categorize a person.
      Also I know plenty of people who were born after 82' that don't hold their phones up the entire time at shows, so fuck whatever wikipedia or some blogger told you.
