My husband and I do a quick shared scheduling session on Sunday evenings, plus a marriage "State of the Union" on Wednesday evenings. These two tactics alone are working wonders for our marriage, and put together they require less than one hour of our time.

Okay. Just looked up why they're famous. They're famous for having short parents? Having a coffee date with someone not your spouse imo is not totally innocent. It's completely foolish. Step 1 of pursuing a relationship is toying with an attraction, however low key, in your mind. Step 2 is exchanging numbers or texting. Step 3 is a meet up. You're in deeper than you realize by a coffee date. The integrity portion is spot on.
You clearly missed the whole point. What he tried saying is that it's foolish! That those actions might seem innocent but it's not. I've done their marriage journal and the anniversary book and your statement is far from what they want. They are big on not falling for these "innocent" acts because they will bring conflict to your marriage.

Yay for homeschooling! I was homeschooled and have been homeschooling my kids. Just finished our first year of my oldest (8th grade) watching pre-recorded, Christian school teachers (with their masters) online. Icing on the cake is they are very affordable and offer discounts on top for siblings coming after. ❤

Geez, these kids have connection and communication better than i do. And it probably comes from the ramifications of being raised by Gen x parents. There is so much to learn here, and honestly, it could save marriages.
It can also be the antidote to the red flag you never saw coming.
Honestly, in a relationship for a gen x person, trust is lacking, we push things under the rug, and dont talk about how that made us feel bc otherwise we are a woosy. (Gen x mentality)
The divorce rate is so high bc people aren't willing to be honest with each other and let their partner know what is really going on in their mind.
Discussing sin and betrayal w your partner doesn't happen w gen x until youre at the piint of divorce and by then their are years built up of unconfessed sin and betrayal that it devistates the person on the receiving end of it when the sin and betrayal finally comes out.
It is devestating to a woman to find out her husband has been lying. It's devastating to find out your spouse was cheating your entire relationship and marriage.
The pain and agony are life changing. My entire world was turned upside down when i found out. It's been 7 years, and i am just now starting to deal w these feelings on a productive level.
Its easy to write that person off when they repeatedly hurt you again and again.
I can never be whole again in my marriage, and it's because so much pain has been inflicted on me that i need to leave in order to save myself and my family.
It's so funny. Look at them experts trying to tell everybody how to do a marriage and raise a family. Come back with that talk after 30+ years of marriage....lol

Hey, I love you guys! I’m kind of disappointed that you guys posted this. I don’t know about the heart posture of this couple - just as far as being spiritually mature and wise in the way they explain their thoughts. Especially the view of sin beginning innocently - not true! I know you didn’t agree with that statement. I’m much more comfortable hearing from your parents or older believers who clearly lay out years of study and communication. This is lesser quality content. Just some feedback from a loyal (older) listener with a buttload of kids. 😄
I agree, I was shocked that Elisha and Katie didn't give any push back to that comment. That is one of my main concerns with this podcast, not much loving push back.
I think it’s awesome to interview people who may not line up toe to toe with you; it’s how you learn in most cases what you really believe, care about, admire, etc… I’m surprised at this comment and the judgements you made.
Being married is nothing new you guys!! Just because TLC gave you a head start doesn’t mean your story on a love story is any different than others apparently your not that stable if you have to seal your life on marriage and parenting with the world speaks volumes . You two were in counseling before you got married!!! Who does that ? I would take all this as unsure of your life.
I would say that counseling before marriage is a wise thing to do.. Marriage is a life long commitment, what's wrong with making sure the person you're going to spend your life with will be compatible for your whole life?
Dating for a year or two without kids (family) is way different than having kids and continuing on with a productive and happy relationship..
Staying married takes hard work..
