If it was done by a human it can be broken by a human.
But Bolt nof the only one with a record that looks impossible to break.
      Look at women's track.
      800m 1983
      400m 1985

All the alien abductions you hear about is our makers tweaking the DNA. We always become much better over time.

Since fully electronic timing from the 1968 Mexico Olympics, the 100 m WR has gone down 0.37 seconds in 41 years, and currently remains at 9.58 for the last 15 years. I'm certain Bolts time will get broken but it will take an extraordinary effort from hopefully a clean athlete. It could take awhile longer though! It will take someone Bolt's height or stride length to break his record. The very best otherwise has been 9.69 by the "typical" top sprinters. No one in the current game will ever go below about 9.65.
Remember how difficult it is to improve .05 seconds from the very best that's been done.
    That realistic best is 9.69.
Maybe in 20-50 years there'll be another Bolt. There has never been a TOP 6' 5" sprinter before.

If you take a look at the 100m WR progression over the years in a graph, u get a steady declining line, especially since electronic timing. Except for Bolt WR in both the 100 and 200. If you were to extrapolate the WR progression, you wouldnt see 9.58 until 2050-2060. Ergo, like Johnson said at the time: the athlete who will break these records likely hasnt been born yet.

There is one simple reason that Bolt achieved times that had previously appeared unreachable: he was the first very tall sprinter who managed to develop an almost perfect technique despite his height.
There are 12 different sprinters before Bolt who have held the IAAF world record since 1964 (when times started being recorded to 1/100ths second instead of 1/10ths). They were all between 5' 8" and 6' 2" tall. Bolt is 6' 5".
It may be a long time before a sprinter can develop a near perfect technique even though they are around 7' tall, but when they do come along they will certainly be capable of running times under 9.50 seconds.

There will never be a 7 foot sprinter. The only way that would happen is if a multi billionaire. Set up contracts to attract tall athletes into sprinting. Instead of the NBA. You would need at least a 100 men 6 5" to 6 8". And from that pool might emerge a few men with Bolts potential.
What people don't realize is Bolt being 6 5" and living in Jamaica where sprinting is the national sport. Is the reason he was found. Had he lived in America where there are other much better paying sports. He very well would have been a basketball player or in the NFL.....

Here is when it will be broken. There are two types of athletes that can do it, and both have only come around once ever in mankind. Usain Bolt is one of those. To break it like Bolt you need to have a man coordinated and over 6'4 that is trained to sprint at an elite level. Very simple Bolt takes less steps at his height. The other athlete was Ben Johnson. He did 9.79 with a slow tracks back then (not made like they are now) and technology of the shoes. There has never been an athlete other than Ben Johnson who could get to full speed at 20 meters and hold it for basically 70-80 meters. Sprinters are holding top speed for half that. They are accelerating for 50-60 meters and holding for 40 meters at best. When the next of these two come along again then maybe. As for now you get Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman and whatever else there is .
