Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Part 3 of memoirs of a German King Tiger Tank Panzer Commander, who served as a gunlayer on a Panzer tank during Operation Barbarossa; led a company of Tigers at Kursk; a company of King Tiger panzers at Normandy and in late 1944 commanded a battle group against the Russians in Hungary. It's strange that because you're hearing someone's view of the war you want him to survive, even though he's on the wrong side,it shows how ridiculous war is,total strangers that in other circumstances probably would have been friends trying to kill each other because a politician told them to
I would go beyond saying that this was one of the greatest disasters in German military history, and would rather say that this was one of the greatest military disasters in military history….period.
Calm down. At least the Germans were able to reform their lines post Stalingrad as bad as it was unlike say the French in Dien Bein Phu who lost their entire war after being surrounded in a similar way there as in Stalingrad. Now that is a all time military disaster.
My God. Awful. Just awful. Amazing the valor these men had.....war is Hell. And these Russians.... continue throughout history and continue to be Neanderthals.
@@PaulftateNot really, the British were evicted from the continent, and had no hope of coming back, until the German army was decimated in the Soviet Union.
@@PaulftateNo denying halting the panzers before Dunkirk was a major blunder but the war in Europe was won and lost on the titanic Eastern Front where the Wehrmacht suffered nearly 80% of its casualties. The West unlike WW1 was not the major theater of war in Europe in WW2.
1941 was a bad year and Hitler made the dumbest mistakes over by operation, Barbarosa and invading Russia and declaring war on America five months or so later, which was four days after Japan attacked America, but Japan did not declared war on us! America declared war on Japan sometime later on, and it was within a couple days probably around the time Germany declared war on us, and that was stupid and in 1941 Germany sealed in their fate!! actually, Hitler did!! Stalin was mad at the western allies, because he kept saying he and his troops were fighting so much in Europe, but he was such a selfish ass, and didn’t even think that America had the hardest battle in the Pacific in our Marines and Navy were fighting in the most sadistic disgusting Japanese military out there and do the Japanese Navy and the US joined Britain over in North Africa. After that success and kicking the Italians in German out of Africa, they went into Sicily and Italy to disarm Italy. That was 1943 and the war was only going on maybe about a year to a year and a half there and the troops in there and the Americans and Canadians kept sending more and more artillery and everything including troops lie about 180,000 from America a month for six or seven months to pile up in England and everybody kept saying they got the island was going to sink from all the American soldiers and the armory and heavy metal.😂 even on D-Day they had about 1.2 million going into Normandy but that counts sailors, airplanes, soldiers, and all the Marines and the American navy was fighting in the Pacific. They say that Britain and the United States defeated Japan -that’s not really true that it was really America. What Australian British went over to Pacific. Were totally sick.
THE DISASTER WAS TO FORM A CULT AROUND A WEIRD, DRUGGED UP RACIST.... IT WOULD BE LIKE AMERICA ELECTING CHARLES MANSION FOR PRESIDENT, THE SHIT SHOW WOULD START INSTANTLY
I think at that point, and afterwards, they still could've won. The key would have been to keep America neutral. The invasion of Russia actually helped to do this, because many Americans were very reluctant to be on the side of the communists and were content to watch from the sidelines while Russia and Germany tore each other apart. But Germany would have had to have gone further to keep the Yanks out. My thoughts on this matter are that sometime after invading Russia a permanent peace should have been made with France and also the U-boat campaign in the Atlantic suspended. This would have scuttled any talk of Germany wanting to conquer the world, lowered the heat on Britain, and would have prevented the accidental killing of Americans at sea, thus helping to keep America out for years more -- plus this would have freed up more (former occupation) troops for Russia, as well as help defeat the British blockade via trade with France. There would have been no American aid to Russia, no D-Day, no landing in West Africa, no daylight bombing of Germany, ect. If, in addition, Germany had made a Total War commitment in '41 instead of '43, keeping Russian prisoners & Jews alive to work or fight for the Reich, drafted young and old Germans before the desperate days of '45 and generally just tried harder, I think, yeah, victory over the Soviet Union, perhaps by the end of '43. But it was all like you said, though, overall, because the Germans didn't realize in June '41 that radical measures were needed to win, and that they were in for a hell of a fight where the odds were stacked against them. And the victories of the summer just made things worse! I mean, how do you tell someone who's kicking ass that they'd better shape up or they are "cruising for a bruising," as they say. It was like Rhonda Rousey during the height of her UFC winning streak. Experienced people said her striking needed work and her coach was a joke, but she just looked at her belt and covered her ears.
There were several factors that if changed could have permitted a German victory. Three come to mind: 1) Hitler took overall command of the German Army away from the generals. A World War 1 corporal whose experience was in trenches on the Western Front was not the best person for that task, as evidenced from a series of blunders he made such as failing to capture Moscow, failing to provide winter equipment for the German troops, failing to listen to the generals, sacrifice of the 6th Army, etc. 2) German overconfidence, not greatly increasing industrial capacity until it was too late, not providing sufficient replacements of men and materiel, etc. 3) The winter of 1941 was particularly harsh, that combined with the German failure to prepare for the weather conditions spelled disaster.

@@gabrielrodriguez821 I had forgotten about that, you have a good point!
That's what happens when a drug abusing, racist corporal is in charge of an army
Love the German WW2 tales, but this yarn was covered on your old channel very recently.
My God. Awful. Just awful. Amazing the valor these men had.....war is Hell. And these Russians.... continue throughout history and continue to be Neanderthals.
If the 6th Army had left Stalingrad, Army Group South would have been cut off and destroyed. Which would have been an even bigger disaster.
The greatest disaster was when the first soldier crossed the Bug river, at that point they were doomed.
They were doomed when the decision was made for the Infantry to hold back at Dunkirk
They were doomed when they invaded France. If they would have stopped at Poland they would have been okay!

Yes they could
It was arguably THE disaster.

what are all those welded 'stripes' all over the tanks skin for ?
Anti sticky bomb coating.. Called zimmerit
thanks.@@Cheeba1991
It was anti magnet coating. Creating enough separation between the magnet and metal to make a magnetic mine not stick.
The Germans lost the war on June 22nd 1941. They just didn't know it
I think it was because the U.S entered the war.
