    I love DE!! We have used it WAY before we even had chickens. We use it for several different things, including the chickens, coop, run, feeding it to them, for worm prevention....12 years, never had worms, lice, mites or any other parasites.
    My dog's, for flea killer, feeding it to them for parasites and help with thier sore joints (my dogs are 15, 12, 10, 8 years old)

    I have seen a lotta these videos and can't understand why they slways warn to be so careful applying DE inside the coop because of the breathing and walking on it or not to apply it directly on chicken, but then go around and say to apply it in the dust bath! Have these people seen how much dust a dust bath raises in the air around the chicken and how much of it goes all over the bird itself??!

      @AnneluvsKatz ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That’s what I just came here to point out! How do you let them dust bathe in it if they’re NOT supposed to breathe it in???

      I've been farming chickens for decades. We just sprinkle it all over the ground and let the chickens stir it up and dust themselves with it. Never had any issues and have been using it for years

      @@libturdcrusher1776 I’m about to move some chickens from my brooder to their coop and run - how long should I wait from application and introduction to the coop and run? Thanks for the help!

      @@Tacocasaking generally when the weather is good and they start getting feathers. Depending where you are at they still might need a heat lamp at night, but you just kind of have to watch them and you will know when they are ready. Just make sure your coop is very secure from predators. Eventually you can let them out and roam around near the coop during the day.

    I use it on my wood chips + straw. I find wood mites alot, after using it I have no more problems. Do 1/4 a cup of DE, to 1/4 a bag of wood shavings. And 1/4 a cup, to 1/2 a bale of hay. Hay has less mites than wood chips.

    Great tutorial. Thank you. You mention not have the chickens get direct contact with their feet because of possible drying and cracking but you also recommend dusting the roosting bars. Thoughts?
