Another method doesn't require making a mold; all you need is access to the lock. You buy a blank key that works for the lock, and blacken it with a lighter. Run the key in and out of the lock a few times. It will rub off the soot on part of the key, and that part is what you want to cut off. Now you have a key that works for that lock.
Pretty sure that if there are pins that aren't cut as far closer to the opening, then this won't work. That further pin should rub off all the soot from then on at the height it's cut to, and you won't be able to see what the other pins are cut to. Depending on the lock, it might still work, but for good locks (which seem to be pretty rare) it shouldn't. Regardless, there are many low skill attacks you could use instead, bump keys, rakes, etc.
Tape, a lighter and the key, get access to the key, hit it with the lighter real quick to get the soot on it, then use the tape to get the soot off the key, should have a black print of the key which you can put onto anything rather solid, I'd choose something thin like a coke can or the lid of a tin, then you cut out the shape, and put it in the lock, using a screwdriver or something to turn it.
I made a copy of a key with one side plasticine imprint just with a piece of steel, a dremel and a firm eye. And it worked. Was tight to insert but worked from first attempt.
For simple locks you can trace the imprint on the lid of a tin can and cut out a copy of the key using sharp scissors. It's not going to hold up for multiple use, but if you're just trying to get in and out it'll do the job.
