He wanted to build his 5th gen group around Rora and his japanese group around Asa since they already have popularity through this program. But since the fans demanded OT7 they changed plans. But I know for sure that if fans had disliked one of the trainees, YG would have dropped them so yes Fans have a say. Look at what happen to Treasure, he listened to the fans and made the best line-up even though it meant delaying the debut of his 4th gen boy group by 1 year.
