    Every car isn't a sportscar, nor should it be. The Tiguan has enough horses to get out of its own way on the freeway, and that's the standard. As a Tiguan owner, would I like it if it was a bit quicker? Of course, but when I was looking at vehicles, 0-60 times weren't a make or break deal. She gets me from point A to point B, it's a comfortable ride, the price was damn good and the styling is sharp. The Tiguan is a grocery getter, period. If you want something a bit sportier, get an Audi.

    The only small SUV I could find in stock was the 2022 Tiguan and I bought it during a $1776.00 discount on July 4th weekend. Everyone else was marking up their vehicles as much as $7K when they came in stock. I don't feel like I "settled" on this car. The ride is comfortable and quiet. The steering is precise. The cockpit has a clean layout and it feels solid. The mileage is much better than claimed. I'm getting about 31 mpg on 40/60 city/hwy driving. The engine feels stronger than the numbers claim and the drive train feels perfectly matched. Don't overlook this car just because it's not a Toyota or Honda.

    Like all the other commentors have said 9.1 seconds is unacceptable. Base versions non-turbo charged of the competition can do the deed in around 8 seconds. I don’t understand why for their best selling SUV they put the lowest output 2.0 turbo motor that has ever been in any Audi or Volkswagen in the last 18 years. It does have 221 pound feet of torque, but I mean come on we know that this engine is capable of over 300 hp in some variations, it needs at least 220 hp, it’s a very strange decision…
    That being said I have always liked the looks of the Tiguan, I think it looks very classy, modern, clean inside and out. And this redesign just makes it look better…

    • @mackfar27
      @mackfar27 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There doing this because of fuel economy and emissions. More power requires more fuel. Whether you have a turbo or not.

    • @MugatuJag
      @MugatuJag 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mackfar27 Maybe that is their intention but it doesn’t get as good fuel economy as most of the competition…. And I know that they’re not trying to put a super powerful 2.0 T they reserve that for the Q5 but it is surprising nonetheless. They could easily put the Volkswagen Atlas 2.0 T in it, 235 hp 258 pound feet of torque and it would probably get similar gas mileage and be competitive…

      USA 2 litre TSI is equipped with miller cycle technology that is optimized to fuel efficiency at the expense of acceleration. However, the similar miller cycler in 1.5 TSI, mated with dsg, is quicker off the line tested at mid-seven seconds.

    I have a 2018 SE FWD and was hoping to see a better spec engine by now. The interior took a step back in quality and especially the touch controls. The warranty went down from 6 to 4 years. The price is up (I got my SE for 25k now they are 31-32k). It’s like VW is pushing us to Honda. Reliability of the engine has not been the best now that those once new Tiguans are coming to the end of the warranty. Disappointed, hope it gets an update at least on the interior next year.

    • @danbear5254
      @danbear5254 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Europe gets some really exciting models that the US market doesn’t. I believe too many US consumers want unicorns, speed, fuel economy, comfort, storage, look-at-me gadgetry, luxury, advanced features that look like they’re “balling” and they want it all for $19.99. It hurts to say this, the vast majority of Americans do not know what they really want and are inherently incapable of pulling their dull eyed mugs out of social media to research the matter, but they can tell you what Cardi B and Mr Beast think?
      This is why even bad US mechanics can charge obscene repair rates, because of intellectually underwhelming drivers that believe that fuel is the only fluid that you refill and that tires and oil are for the life of the car. That point is often proven to be the truth.

    I have a 2022 R-Line. There’s no doubt that internal quality have dropped due to Covid supply and work shortages. But other than that it’s a nice car and I love it. Only had trim issues but nothing mechanical or electrical (thank goodness as other 2022 VWs are having awful issues due to supply/worker shortages.)
    That being said, everyone bitches about the engine. Yes this is the same engine that gives the GTI and other vehicles around 230 ponies. You can easily tune your Tiguan up to 230 with an APR stage 1 tune. With added mods you can get it even higher.
    This is an SUV and not supposed to be a sport vehicle. I don’t blame VW for tuning it the way they did.

      I think it looks great, but this is the lowest output 2.0 turbo engine that they have had in their cars since the 2.0 T came out in Volkswagen and Audi‘s 18 years ago. Yeah it’s their best selling SUV, it weighs just over 4000 pounds, it’s got crazy competition, and for around the same price you could get a CX-5 turbo that is over three seconds faster to 60 LMAO, granted it is a bit smaller but Weighs just a tad less. Or for a few thousand more but around the same price or less after federal tax rebate you could get a RAV4 prime That is 3.4 seconds faster to 60 and gets better gas mileage.
