You can make a flat tire effect on the tires by heating the bottom of them and hitting it on a hard surface. You can find this at moss rods.

Long-time watcher, first time commenter. The Nissan truck was great. I loved that the parts that were still blue were such a vivid blue. I really got the sense that someone was probably really proud of bringing that truck home 20 years ago.

Just so incredibly well done! I had a Toyota truck---owned it new from 1985 until 1997. She took me camping up in the Blue Ridge, hauling firewood in New Hampshire, cleaning downfall after Hurricane Bob on Cape Cod, 4 wheeling in Maine, surf fishing the Outer Banks, even evaded Park Rangers after an impromptu kegler on the Rio Grande....she rusted out from under me not unlike your Nissan. Sold it to a young Sailor in Virginia Beach who wanted to build it into a beach buggy. Loved that truck....I kinda like to think she's still out there chasing stripers to this day! Great job, both trucks! Thank you, again!

They both look great but man the Nissan is next level! Awesome work and while I have used the etching process on some of my less expensive Spyderco and Benchmade pocket knives I have not tried it on die-cast, I assumed it would eat right through zamac almost instantly but those quick dips you did worked like magic. I found my bottle at Radio Shack so if anyone has a Radio Shack near them they could pick up a pre-mixed bottle there. Thanks for sharing and I will definitely be trying this out.

The longer form videos are good! Feel free to do more of them. And when you finish building props for the Nissan I would suggest scratching up the truck bed a bit, an old work horse like that is usually worn down from sliding payloads in and out over the years.

I just want to say thank you for such informative, nicely produced, and well thought out videos. As well as some beautiful finished specimens to help with ideas. I Just recently started collecting 1/64th die cast again. And I have always loved dioramas (the idea of them anyway as i have never built one full on.) But i have a nack for finding many uses for one seemingly "junk" thing. So i think i have found my niche as I'm reaching middle age and becoming a homebody. I have subscribed and eagerly look forward to all of your future videos. Thanks again from the Bluegrass State.

Here is a project with A LOT of work if you ever need something to do. Try capturing the whole life of a vehicle in a video. From first construction, to abandonment, to new lease of life. It would be even better if you can use/make props. Start from the building process in the factory (where the car is in parts), then move to the dealership (brand new condition), then make it a barn find (Weathering effects) and finally let it live again (a hot rod maybe).
P.S. I have no interest in the hobby, but your videos have me captivated!

Loved the video! There's one problem, the way you painted the back fenders on the first truck. Trucks like that one have add on fenders that can get removed from the bed, I realise that it would be hard to mask the bed but not the fenders, so not a big deal, but the yellow on the bed is unrealistic. Other then that the video was really helpful, thank you

You're really in the zone lately. This one is also one of your best. A couple questions. What do you keep your acid in? Also, is the HCL sold as a "product" like drain cleaner, etc? I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous messing with acids. More so than safety glasses, I'd recommend a face shield since that would better protect against splashes to the face.
