SOR1 Axel is weirdly the only character I can beat this game on Mania without too much of a struggle. I thought I was a great streets of rage player but you put me to shame lol. You move like you have ultra instinct.
I had the most trouble with THE SOR1 characters when it came to the jump kick dance chicks. Since neither of them have range on the forward jump kicks, you’re best bet is to just try your best to move out of the way. Difficult when you got 4 or 5 lunging at you.
I love watching your videos as they show me how much further to push the envelope with games, especially with beat 'em ups (one of my fav genres). Out of curiosity, do you prefer to play beat 'em ups (like SOR, TMNT, etc.) with a D-pad controller or an arcade stick? (personally, I prefer an arcade stick.)
@@omalone1169 depend if u go story mode u must use the same chracter all the way through but if u go stage select you can use who ever u want on any stage
iconoclast575, someone on Twitch played a build of what changes SOR4 will have and it's a ton of changes to the characters, enemies, infinites, etc. and basically it's going to feel like a different game when the patch comes out. Some strats will have to be changed as well. But they improved Axel and Cherry as well so there's that.

I feel like the more capable a character is in a game, so should the bosses. I hope the don’t tune down bosses. They’re strong and annoying and I won’t have it any other way... _but please give SoR3 Axle a range buff, for loves sake. I hate throwing out a jab and getting punished cause it whiffed even though we’re the same distance apart_
i know what you mean about the balance patch, im not a great fan of balances too, but this game need some fixes like the reducing (a little bit) the armor of the enemies(biker girls for example) or a little buff for Axel (sor4), etc
Axel is the only the best guy because his technique is so much higher than anyone else's Quick attacks and quick recovery, he's also one of strongest, making him a good choice for any playthrough difficulty

If an enemy throws a weapon at you (or if a koobo uses his telekenisis) you can actually catch it mid air if you have the right timing, and throw it back at them, good against those annoying donovan reskins at the music festival
They removed the infinites, but I never saw anyone actually stress test enemy behavior and that's why the whole promotional, second hand experience of some balance patch is more insulting than reassuring in a game where the recurring concept was "I have an armor move and I talk all this shit about fighting games while enemies whiff moves with impunity like you're a 3S character fighting an SF2 character."

They likely missed this message but watching this clip they have no qualms finishing the combo and like others utilise the throw a bit albeit much less They clearly know distances also so that helps
in my opinion some of the characters available should get a bit adjustment, as for the game difficulties it should be fine but some characters need that for them to be more enjoyable to use. Take skate from SoR2 as example, i love using skate but in this sor4 he is harder to use here than what i can remember. He seems to be much easier to be punished around unless you're very pro in using him and also his default normal attack combo, i can't believe how low the damage he dealt.
@@BrennonMaingot if they take away the infinite they better fix the stage 7 boss on mania, because the two commisioners with super armor and auto aim attacks is just stupid and near impossible not to die on cheaply without the use of a infinite of sorts whether it be juggles or punch combo.Personally I like infintes it makes the characters feel strong(which is what is most important in a beat em up) and still it doesn't totally break the game imo, it still takes skill to beat the game on mania by knowing the enemy placements,timing,grouping enemies, positioning, and etc.Another point for infinites is that they still require timing and execution to do so not absolutely braindead at all and they make character feel strong ,beat em ups are usually designed for you to be overpowered which is why they send millions of enemies against you for the challenge.

Just pick a short stage on Easy. Use Floyd. Literally only use Thunder Sphere for the entire stage. Might take a try or two just to learn the intricacies of a stage but it's not too hard.

I use him at 1st on Mania as well, but I also beaten Mania with SOR4 Adam. IMO he's one of the best characters to use for the SOR4 cast.
My first and only Mania arcade win came with SOR1 Axel.

It seems to me that the sor1 characters have been outfitted with new technology because the devs made them very powerful

If they're gonna add balance patch, I really wish they add dash to Blaze, Axel. Floyd is already OP, so he doesn't need it.
