    Derslerini seviyorum. O çok sakin bir çocuktu. How would I distinguish between She was a very calm child and She is a very calm child? I’ve seen past tense suffixes on verbs, I’m guessing çocuktu is the past tense of the noun. How would I know if a noun is using accusative ‘-u’ or past tense ‘-u’?

    • @LearnTurkishvia
      @LearnTurkishvia  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Accusative suffix = ı, i, u, ü
      past tense suffix = dı, di, du, dü
      She is a calm child = O sakin bir çocuk.
      She was a calm child = O sakin bir çocuktu.
      The mother kissed THE calm child = Anne sakin çocuğU öptü.

      @@LearnTurkishvia Teşekkür ederim. After looking at your response multiple times, I realized the you included accusative and past tense in your last sentence to provide extra clarification. You are a very thorough professor!

    Why is there a buffer letter y in endişeliydi.

    • @LearnTurkishvia
      @LearnTurkishvia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the past tense suffix "di" or "miş" comes after a noun or adjective which is ending with a vowel then we add buffer letter "y" between the noun or adjective and the suffix. ( ex: akıllıydı, akıllıymış, kapıcıydı, kapıcıymış) If it is a verb, no buffer letter needed. ( ex: geldi , gelmiş)
