  • In this video, we take a good look at all the parts you get when purchasing the Tractor Truck Multi-Function Control Unit from Tamiya.
The popular Multi-Function Control (MFC) unit for R/C tractor trucks, which adds a whole extra layer of realism to driving, receives an update. This unit allows transmitter trim levers to be combined with stick control use, meaning you can enjoy lights, sounds and vibrations coordinated with actions while driving your R/C tractor truck model. This version of the MFC features engine sounds that were recorded from a real European truck's L6 diesel engine for amazing realism.
The unit features 33 different types of sound, including engine ignition and shutdown, horn, gear changes, brakes, air sound effects and so on. A 60mm-diameter full-range speaker in a resin case provides excellent quality.
Up to 21 actions can be controlled using a 4-channel transmitter.
Light operation and volume adjustment are also possible using the transmitter.
Includes white, red and yellow high brightness LEDs to duplicate truck HID lights with precision.
An ESC has been built into the unit, enabling realistic running at very low speeds.
The MFC unit can be run in three modes: R/C mode with Multi-Function (lights and sounds) off; Multi mode, with R/C and multi-function on; Demo mode, which allows display of lights and sounds only.

Love Rebecca, awesome. Those Tamiya multi-function units have always been expensive but add another dimension to the model.

Flysky fs6 is my go to transmitter, don’t forget however you will have to set up mix curves to allow you to use all the functions !! You need to do this as the Tamiya MFC’s require a “high and low “ signal to switch the numerous functions, it’s not just a matter of shifting a stick.

Hi Gavin, I think there’s a secret built into it, you can hear the driver walking over to the truck, opening the door, climbing into it and starting it up. Nice video man. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
Ps……flysky 6 channel radio gear from bangood, can’t go wrong with it, that’s what I use on my Tamiya globe liner.

Nice unboxing. About the radio, im using Flysky FS-I6X rebuilt with self centering throttle stick and Carson Modellsport Reflexstick 6, 11 and 14 channel for the other trucks and they work really good, never had any problem with them.

Looking forward to seeing your final build.
Carson 6ch okay, but feels very cheap in your hand . Flysky fs-i6x is a good radio to start with, but you will need to find a centering kit for throttle stick.
A quick tip, use plenty of threadlock, especially if you're going to use the vibration unit.
Take time and enjoy the build 😊

For this you could use the flysky fs-i6 tx really cheap but a controller that won't let you down, next would be the radiomaster tx16s and last would be the flysky Paladin EV.

On EBay you can get aluminum gate Shifter for the 3 speeds.
The stick unscrews to install gate.

I would say for a transmitter, I have a Flysky FS-IA6 6ch transmitter and I use it for my Jeep NuKizer 6x6 and it's super cheap and good quality as well.

Gavin, I run all my Trucks on ONE FlySky FSi6X Radio. It's a 6 Channel, but is capable of TEN! Reliable, user-friendly, and only $65.00 USD (£52 quid)

    Yay, I'm Like #300!
I have an Arduino based MFC type thing in my HG P407, bit more work but does all that and more for a fraction of the price.
I guess you're also paying for a neater package that will work from the start, rather than debugging your own system.
    Looking forward to the build!

It will be exciting to follow the construction. Also the MFC-03 is not a successor to the MFC 01. They have different sound effects the 01 has typical American truck sounds and 03 has European sounds

I used and I believe Tamiya actually recommends you use the Tamiya attack 2.4Ghz 4ch radio
4YWD and I also believe that it should come with the gate shifters in the MFC unit for the attack radio

Good choice on the MFC! I've built this set into my FH16, it works great. I've also got a cheap banggood gt power unit on order to see if that is any good. If you plan on getting a trailer for your truck you might want to consider getting the trailer light set which has a socket for the trailerlights that you have to build into your cab, it's more convenient to do this beforehand, as you get a coverplate for the socketholes in the cab which you can paint in the bodycolor if you don't use the trailer socket. As mentioned by others here the Flysky FS-i6 from banggood is a very good radioset for these trucks, altough you might have to tweak it a bit to get it working properly. Great video as always, I'm really looking forward to this build. On that note, when is the final video of your F-350 coming? Keep it up, almost at 20k subs!

Well, it certainly looks like you get quite a bit for your money. And whether it's "value for money" or not, of course it is! It's pretty much a necessity for a truck build, reminds me of when I had a Tamiya tank with an MFU. Luckily I got a Tamiya Leopard 2A6 (complete with MFU) for about £300 some years back, sadly had to sell it as I needed the money :(

I’m too cheap to get this as I’d sooner buy another semi kit and forego the effects. An inbuilt semi kit will have better resale value.

NO need for a truck radio, get the flysky FS-i6 or FS-i6S and a £3 self centering spring from banggood. Ditch the vibration unit. The Tamiya MFC is SO dated no option for different sounds. Once you get hooked on Trucks buy a propper MFU from Beier SFR-1... DEMO here th-cam.com/video/rXieVTHzmWE/w-d-xo.html
