while this is branded as Cobra Officer this is actually Cobra Trooper if you look at the original 1989 releases of Python Patrol Trooper and Officer was name swapped so this not having the rank badges and arm piece actually fit into that “narrative”
Wow, I didn't know that. Here I thought Hasbro was being lazy. Especially considering that the officer has one more point of articulation the trooper doesn't have.
That has been a subject of controversy in the GI Joe community for a while. If you look at the original Python Patrol Officer and Trooper, they had their molds switched from the Original Blue-shirt Officer and Trooper (you could tell because the officer chevron is on the trooper's helmet). Fans suspected that it was just a mistake that could not be fixed, (even in the remakes, for some reason). Honestly, I just assumed that the Classified team wanted to fix the decades-old mistake.
I wonder if they will make the rather cool looking "City Strike Alley Viper" in red and Black or got with one of the blue ones instead, they have the mould so it seems sensible to use it for some sort of repaint. I wouldn't mind a Python Patrol one though either. Heck Python Patrol things that didn't even have an original is fine with me. Like a Range Viper... but I was looking that one up as it's rumoured and it seems they did a weird repaint sold as a rock viper too. even though it's still clearly a Range Viper... maybe they could call it something else to fix that mess ?
The best part of this line is that Hasbro owns 100% of the rights, and can throw in colors and accessories as they please. Let's see what whacky repaint they'll come up with soon. As long as it looks great, they can call the variants whatever they want 😂
Is it A Black thing.. > That there now calling the Classified GI JOE _PP Trooper_ the "PP Officer" ?? Cause this Classified PP Template was originally [A Trooper]. As it is Originally in both OG 3.75 & 25th Anniversary 4" scale. I'm guessing these Classified molds were already done.. And they didn't want The White faced original Officer- now labeled "Trooper" figure as an officer. Ergo commanding an Army of black-faced Troopers. Thus renaming this Classified Trooper mold as an Officer. When this here is really A Trooper. #Weird
Wow, Hasbro is really cheapening out here! Something must have gone wrong when making this figure. I seriously think it was just going to be a regular trooper but they couldn't fabricate the vest somehow and decided at the last minute to make him an "officer." That explains why 90% of the buck is a trooper while only the boots, head, and soft-goods are officer based. Besides losing his insignia ranks, he also loses a point of articulation. The Cobra Officer has forearm swivel. Since the arms of this are the buck of the regular trooper, there is no arm swivel. The only reason I will get this is because I have the other two. Beyond that, this is a straight up money grab :(

The colors don't excite me. But I wouldn't pass it up at clearance 😛🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️👍

I actually don't mind that he doesn't have his rank on the uniform because I'm going to use this figure as the soldier because I like the gun
I like the texture detailing on the upper chest. It reminds me of the old Marvel comics when they cross hatched the uniforms.
