really is not necessary to have music in background in this valuable interview! you should put yourself instead of watchers and see it s disaster to listen a repeated music while you want to focus on important topics...

Relatively Informative, but many words that he uses creeps to my mind as quite outdated.
The guy continuously repeats "the students is invited". I don't know about your field, nowadays there are not many students winning faculty positions without several postdocs appointments, and already marked all the aforementioned checklist (publications, teaching, grants, collaborations) before getting the first faculty, at least in physics.
We are not in the 90s anymore... Or not everybody is studying economics...

It's best not to become a professor but to become one of the greatest mischievous brats causing headaches for other fools who don't know how to make right decision

You pretty much need to get your name in publications during your postdoc. Nepotism is how you get publications and jobs in academia. Landed my postdocs with nepotism. Careful, once you are no longer a Ph.D. student, the profs you work with will behave real nasty towards you as they only want you to publish. They will give you projects but won't do anywork themselves. This is what you should expect as a postdoc. A big part that recruiters for Assistant professors are looking for is if you have the guts to abuse postdocs and graduate students for publications. Of course skills are also important. Afterall, publications is the departments #1 goal.

I don’t agree with this as it is not applicable to my field (journalism). Publication can be important but journalism major without experiences might not be good
