My take on dividends as a 28 year old is they’re great if you have enough money already to invest. My strategy is to invest in small cap growth stocks to build the initial funds. With time and some luck, then pay off my mortgage and other monthly expenses, to then put the rest into dividend stocks.
Sometimes I buy a couple of days before the ex-date and sell if it goes up more than the anticipated dividend...basically churning my account. I usually buy low pe stocks that pay a good dividend and then sell soon after the entitlement date. Unfortunately I hold on to some with a loss or double down sometimes but I’m learning and you’re a great teacher. Thanks.

That ISA in the UK is like the Roth in the US; you do not pay tax on the withdrawals. Everybody should be maxing out the Roth contribution every year. I wish I had done it.
My rule for dividends is that I won't invest in a company if they don't pay a dividend - as per Jim Slater's books. That does mean that I probably miss out on some growth opportunities, but that's one of my tick boxes.

@@TheDividendExperiment I know, I used to have a podcast/youtube and what I found out is that maybe edit out some of the silence in-between so it has less silence or just add a background music that is really low to not distract but will reduce the dead silence parts. Nonetheless, the video was great, just stopped at the end as it doesn't apply for me here in Canada.
That only works if you die before the stock market falls 90 to 95 percent back to fair market value in which case all dividends would be cut around 80 percent right across the board. This might work if you're old like in your 90's.
