Man, those chucks are small - but then again, everything is relative, those are probably large in relation to some of the work that the watchmaker's equipment is used for too. I can see why you're less interested in using the adapters for the M14 threads as it adds more stickout and potential for runout, but I guess you do what you have to!

      Hi Everett,
Thanks for visiting... the chucks are rather small... I have managed to find a Unimat SL 3 jaw check so don't need the adaptors... I am very pleased to not have the additional stickout.

Thanks for watching and subscribing... I have tried to make videos of the information I wished had before I got my Unimat SL... I have slowed down with them due to COVID but hope to make lots more shortly.

      Hi Dean,
Thanks for watching... They are rather cool... My plan is to have one playlist for general information, one for the restoration, and one putting it through its paces.
It might take a little while to do all of them but hopefully will be interesting.

Hi, thanks for the video, very helpful. I think M14 / M12 reducers can be bought as a bush which wouldn't extend the headstock so to speak.

You can get a chuck from harbor freight tools for $26. It's a 2" but not to bad. They are made in India. It's called a Mini Lathe Drill Chuck. The morse taper can be unsecured and it has the same thread as the uninat db and sl lathe. There are some reviews on their web site. I attempted to post a link to it but the post was removed. Links may not be allowed or something I'm not sure Why it was deleted.

Thank you for your very helpful and informative videos Paul. I have recently bought a Unimat SL and am looking to purchase a 4-jaw chuck. The 3-jaw ones you show in the video appear to be 50mm diameter and the 4 -jaw, 65mm diameter. I wonder if you can confirm that a 65mm chuck will fit the SL without fouling anything? Many thanks for any help you are able to offer.

Many thanks for watching my video... My workshop is not at my home so will double check in the next day or so when I visit the workshop and confirm 100% that 65mm will be okay. Sorry for the delay.

Hello, can you please elaborate on if the er16 collets will work with the e16 collet chucks? I'm in a situation where I have the chuck and lathe, but only a single collet, and the e16s are impossible to get affordably. If the er16s really do work with the e16 chuck, I would be well on my way.
    Thank you!

      Hello,
Thanks for watching and subscribing... I have just been doing some experimenting and I think you are out of luck as the ER16 collet does not fit correctly into the collet locking ring (nut) of the original collet holder. I have seen some aftermarket ER16 collet holders on eBay here in the UK but they seem to sell for around the £150.00 mark. Sorry it is not good news.
