I have a pitch for the final Fast and Furious movie: why not have Johnny Tran's sister be the main villain for the finale? Dom had a meaningless relationship with her, caused her brother to be disowned by her dad and ultimately gone, and now her own family is falling apart in despair since the first movie. All her time suffering can be used to plot against Dom and the crew. Like what Vin Diesel says: Family (but NOT Johnny Tran's) matters!

Always thought that line was funny - I can't even come up with $100,000 in 2024 money to spend under the hood of an S2000 keeping it looking that stock on the outside. You can build those motors for E85, massive turbo and push 700+ rwhp for a small fraction of that which is already more power than is really manageable with such a short and and narrow wheelbase and just 2 driven wheels.
I still have my 2001 Honda Prelude I bought for a steal $5400 back in 04 I had to borrow some money off my Dad. Now it has a H22a turbo. Took years for me to build it the way I like it. Plan on giving it to my son. Awesome channel 👌

We found about $96,000 worth of build parts and services, so it was POSSIBLE to have a 100k honda engine, but highly improbable. Also, if you had those kind of resources, that likelihood of you street racing was slim lol
@idontgotagun9867 based on the cam specs and boost, it would (theoretically) make about 1100 horsepower from under 3L of displacement (I don't remember any of the exact specs, this was over ten years ago.)
The only other car that Tran could have driven is a Dodge Viper RT-10 with the Hennessey TT600 Package. I would have hated to see him in a Mustang Especially if it would have been the new edge 2V generation.
Wow. Thanks for the background info on the car. I'm a fan of the franchise and a former Zip Zaps collector and I never knew that Tran's car was the one in the second movie as well. That reminds me, in the Zip Zaps 2 Fast 2 Furious Honda S2000/Nissan Skyline Body Kit Radio Shack got the cars' rims backwards and only people who had payed attention to the movie cars could tell the difference. I remember telling a guy in a trade that when I sent him Brian's Skyline I was going to include the correct rims. I can't wait for your next video about the Fast and the Furious cars!
Thanks Craig, I've been wondering about Tran's S2000 ever since I saw this iconic movie 23 years ago as a 14 year old. The fast and the furious still holds up today.
Great video Craig, and you read my mind. Tran's line a calls for SR20 motors before race wars, and the next video is all about sound and specifications. I always loved that the first two movies immersed the viewer in the sound of the car driving, whether they were you accurate engine sounds or not. The later heist movies really took the drive for granted, throwing other filler material around races and chases. It sounds trivial, but when I saw the fourth movie in theatres and heard the generic pistol shot sound used for activating the nos system, I thought "no, they didn't.”
Something I’ve wondered about ever since seeing the original movie the first time was what engine/car did they use for the rev that Tran does when pulling up after racing Jessie at race wars. I doubt it’s an s2k so I’ve been curious
