    Look at that masterpiece. Love these things, even with flawed rear ends. Absolutely phenomenal drivers, very reserved styling, and magnificent to own.

      They only had problems with the rear end mounting tunnel when they went to the bigger engines.

    I bought one of these recently. It's a '97 Z3 with the 2.8l and 86,000 miles and I plan on driving it everyday until the wheels fall off. Lovely car to own for sure.

    My girlfriend revently bought a 1998 Dakar Yellow 2.8 Z3 with the 5 speed manual. That thing is an absolute blast to drive, these things will be full blown classics one day.

      Does she still have it? Good on her for buying manual. BMW’s automatic transmissions from that era are endless money pits once they pass their warranty. The manuals are more reliable and more fun. Just let the car warm up before you drive it after a cold start, especially if it has a Turbo. And you gotta change the oil. BMW’s engines are generally reliable, but all the plastic hooked-up to the engine is a weakness.

    The 2.8 version was announced in 1996 and delivered in the USA in 1997. Got mine in Jan 1997. The main difference compared to your example is the absence of roll bars behind the seats (elegance over safety!).

    You should get a proper chest or head mount for your phone, makes the driving part a lot smoother, and also a more stable video ;)

    Beautiful car . In Europe we had a 2.3L as well as the entry model 1.9L . I think a hard top accessory is available for the more inclement climes . Highly collectible . Could you please give an indication of price at your centre ?

    I have a 98 1.9 BMW Individual in Fiji Green....my only issue with a powered top is you can't drop it while moving as you have to have you're foot on the brake to activate the switch. I've had 2 MX5 (Miatas to you) and yeah the hood drop takes a second in those. I think the powered hood adds a sense of occasion 😁

    All you need for wind noise is a wind muff. You xan find them online. It's a little furry thing to place over the mic hole. Or get a dedicated mic with a wind muff. Makes a huge difference.

      Correct, just a little super glue and a small piece of foam over the mic will defeat wind noise

    I just inherited one of these. 1999 2.8 Roadster. Copper/brown. 3200 original miles. Mother in-law bought it as a gift for herself. Only driven in the summer and never on wet roads. Been kept in a garage under a custom cover. I will probably drive it a few times then sell it or maybe detail it and take it to a classic car auction.

    do you know how many kilometres the motor lasts on the 2.8 litre Z3? Ive seen some say 200,000 klms. there's one for sale which has 196,000 on the clock and I'm wondering if I'll be up for engine replacement

    Je possède le modèle BMW Z3 de 6 cylindres, 3.0 I avec le KIT M depuis maintenant 11 ans. J'ai fait pour ma part 85 000 KM avec cette voiture et j'ai toujours le même plaisir à la conduire sans aucune panne.Elle ne brise jamais.
    Passionné par ce Roadster BMW Z3 depuis sa sortie alors que je l'avais vu la première fois dans le film de James Bond, j'ai fini par en acquérir une en 2008. Un modèle noir métallique avec grille en Chromée à l'avant est d'une grande élégance. Le BMW Z3 cabriolet est propice aux ballades.Le dynamisme et les courbes de cette voiture sont classiques et parfaites. C'est tout ce que l'on attend d'un cabriolet de cette classe. Son moteur de 3.0 litres et sa sonorité particulièrement agréable, me donne pleinement satisfaction en accélération, mais l'idée première de détenir une BMW Z3 n'est pas de brûler de pneus en accélération bien que possible par sa puissance de 231 HP, mais de profiter du plaisir de la conduire de cette voiture Je vais la conserver encore bien des années, car la valeur de revente sera grandement appréciée dans quelques années, comme une voiture de collection trouvable même en modèle réduit comme bibelot.
    Les défauts, sont bien difficile à trouver. Sa suspension est rigide mais, avec le pack sport ( M KIT), et l'abaissement de la voiture qui lui donne bel allure, on ne peut pas tout demander. Pour une voiture sport, il y a toujours des compromis à faire pour avoir le plaisir de conduire, en l’occurrence c'est le confort. Si vous cherchez les deux c'est impossible, le confort sans plaisir de conduite est offert à bien moindre coût avec une Toyota Camry. Jour conclure,
    Je l'adore, et tout le monde adore cette voiture, très fiable, elle ne brise jamais donc peu coûteuse en entretien.

    I wouldn't mind this car after I finance my F-150 and buy this outright as a weekend beat around the corner roadster. Maybe do some modifications to it to make it more fun and such. Other than that I love these types of cars.

    The leopard skin and mats had something to do with goldeneye James Bond, primarily for the Atlanta blue color combo. You’ll see a leopard in the intro of the movie.

    Love the z3..I own a 2000 2.8 ...wife has 2001 3.0i ...goes like scared rabbit...there are faster super cars but love the 5 speed on a secluded road with the wind blowing through my remaining hair..my 2003 z 4 is faster...but z3. Is a classic..all over 200,000 km ....Yes i like to drive ...

    I own a four cylinder and I think its quite lively and fits the character of the car just fine. Very balenced handling and still good for 120 mph here on the Autobahn if you want, however since mine is in mint condition without even one stone chip I wouldn't even dream of doing that!

      Tom Smith Z3 and Z4 1st gen car lines are classic. One of the sexiest roadsters ever made. Hence the prices starting to climb up a bit after they bottomed out.

    Replace the brake switch and your top will work..cheap on rock auto...easy to replace..clutch in ...brake depressed for computer to activate convertible top.

    Feel like the 1.9l’s accelerate faster cause it’s not as smooth of as engine, my 318i manual accelerates faster than this model, looks torquey but revs forever, definitely nicer for an older chill kind of driver I’d say. 1.9l is punchy enough and lighter plus revs nicer imo
