I took 3 things from this fight, Cody is 1 hell of a boxer. His head movement was beyond exceptional. Cruz on the other hand even in a loss showed that he has an incredible chin! and incredible recovery! also, the humblest man in the UFC! Well done Cody.
Oh I agree mate. It's just this one has made it set in stone that this guy is the bee's. Great performance and the man also has a great heart, with what he did for Maddox and everything. Defo earned my respect.

Cody is freakin amazing. He manages to be vulnerable as a human being, but he's incredible when he fights. I mean he pulled off Anderson Silva, Michael Page, and Nick Diaz clown moves while completely turning the tables on Dom. Unranked to champion in one year. FOTY in my book.

Cody looked phenomenal tonight but look how Cruz came back after that Faber loss and he's already a two time BW champ. I think Cruz will get the hat trick by the end of the yr. but in the case Cody beats TJ an Cruz I think he'd be a nice addition to the FW division

Can you Stop off with this "Casuals" talk. We all watch the sport and learn more and more each card. We are not casuals, this is what this sport is about, you pick a fighter you enjoy to watch and listen to. In this case Cruz. You take sides you slate the other side its what we do in every sport and when it doesn't work out like just like last night, you get to rub in the opponents face Cruz fans see what Cody is made off and not what we thought and thats good, it enjoyable it what makes the UFC so popular. Doesn't make you a "Casual".

I had no respect for cody G. up until now. What i mean is , I am a big fan of Dom and I saw cody as a bit of a skeet. Then to hear him speak after it was all done and behave so exceptionally in victory it was eye opening. He put on a great fight so he has the chops but as a person to hear him speak was great. He might not be articulate but hey, he is a fighter not a politician, but the words he spoke were genuine. Respect!

I have always been a Dominick Cruz fan, but man I am definitely a Cody garbrandt fan as well... he won EVERY round, there is not one round that I can say Cruz won, maybe the 1st? But not really, and that 3rd or 4th with all those knockdowns could be a 10-8, Cody won every round, several rounds dominating every move, every step....I'm amazed at how dominant he was

I rooted for Cruz, but I never understood the harsh hate (by many) for Cody : tatoo, supposed douche, or any defaults you can find on a person...etc...etc... I really tried to find something on interviews (the only thing we have to check on) : well, the dude is...... normal... and I hope they shut their mouth for ever and ever... Bravo to Cody. I didn't make a "pick" a winner for this fight, but I gave Cruz the 'greater chance' at winning due to his greater experience and over-all fighting ability, but I've learned a long time ago never to count ANYONE out in a fight, because I know how unpredictable a fight can be.
I figured Cruz would be able to use his footwork to frustrate Cody and get him to fight off his emotions, but Cody stood patient and focused, the man fought BRILLIANTLY! I've never seen such poise from a guy of his experience, it's like he turned into a seasoned vet over night. It was a thing of beauty.
It's funny to go back and read all the pro Cruz comments, so many were dismissive of Cody, calling him Cody "No Chance" or saying how Cruz "wins easily" or that he'll "mop the floor with Cody". It's one thing to pick Cruz to win, most did, but I'm shocked to know that people continue to completely count another man out, you'd think after the crazy upsets we've seen in this sport that they'll learn, but they don't. This is a fight, ANYONE can win at ANY TIME.
Respect Cody. I wanted you to win but thought Dom may just have a bit too much fight craft for you, however you put on an absolute master class performance that surpassed what I believed you were capable of.
Stunning victory and you have handled yourself with such class post fight. Same with Dom who was so incredibly humble and honest in defeat. Great fight.
Ronda needs to work on those Gracie setup push kicks and ditch the boxing.

Called it. There just comes a time where the challenger is on another level. Same path as McGregor... written off because of his ranking, people saying he hasn't faced legit competition yet... no. This guy has slick boxing and hands like rock for 135. Couple that with good wrestling and lightning fast scrambles. Could be champ for a while.

I wanted Cruz to lose but had no faith. I'm so glad Cody could prove me wrong. Cruz is such an unlikable person despite his intelligence, and Cody was able win and put up the most insane five-round fight since Lawlor-Condit.
I though this bout brought the best out of these two fighters. They both are great and Cody deserves that belt.

Can only predict good things for Cody in 2017. Hopefully he stays fit and healthy and reaps the rewards for all of the hard work he's put in. He's says Dom speaks well but that was a brilliant post fight interview. Very moving too. Congratulations.

He does not have more power or better head movement lol, are you insane? He is a little faster but his boxing is amateur level although good Conor's is much higher level, he could compete with C or Maybe even B level boxers at this point in his career. Cody would never be able to do what Conor did to Aldo or Nate. Cody is a smaller, bum version of mcgregor

Cody's boxing is very good on mma standards, but his really lethal weapons are speed, precision and the power of the strikes. No one has ever looked as good against Dom. It's a shame that he's so small, would be nice to see against elites like Aldo and/or Conor.

I never hated him. I just don't like his personality. I still don't like him as a champion, but I could never hate on his performances before this fight, or in this fight. I don't think he'll have the invincible reign Dom has had, and I think Dom might even give him more problems in their next fight, but we'll see. Still though, good performance and humble enough in victory.
