- These are extracts of the first 3 episodes of the KykNET show "Kamp Dit Uit". The show is hosted in South Africa with commentary in Afrikaans. This video shows a group of 4x4 'gurus' attempting to take a caravan up Baboons Pass in Lesotho using a Cruiser 70 SW and Land Rover Defender 110 as a back-up vehicle.

I am also sure they used the lashing point on the front of the cruiser *which is not meant for recovery* it is used when the vehicle is being shipped.

looks fun...i think I would have gone with a more aggresive tire but I understand the need to just try it with a stock Toyota as well.
Now that is just a pure shame. How can people be so ignorant? A public apology wont come close to the long term effect this episode did. Wow.
Not a best place for practice fellas. Leave that to the professionals. You don't just go buy a 4x4 than call yourself a off roader.
What a crock !!! Just watching this makes me feel embarrassed that I drive a 4x4 and that I drive these trails as well. I like the comment 0:45 that no rocks were damaged during this production, just brilliant, but driving off the track and stuffing up the rest of the environment is not mentioned. I'm trying to decide what's funnier, Off-roading with a caravan or the title of the video.
There has been the 'unofficial response' from KykNET: Part 1 Thank you for your response and commentary on the programme Kamp dit Uit. We are a socially responsible channel and take any programming that does not adhere to our moral code very seriously. From the channel's side we have contacted the production house responsible for the programme and instructed them to make a public apology for the episode.
I can not believe that " gurus " would behave like this. Truly they are the baboons, literally! I do hope that Kyknet used this as an example as to how idiotic these people are. Agreed, they are only spoiling it for those who really try and enjoy nature.

Clearly their limit is when they destroy something or it flips. WOW does not need to be that dangerous. They have been very lucky.

I just don't get how the caravan is kitted out, but the 4x4 is stock for something as extreme as this..?? It's almost like the caravan should be pulling the 4x4 around!

This is why the beaches are now closed. This is why Botswana parks charge so much. This is why there are tracks all over the place. This is why broadcasters are get nervous when agreeing to broadcast any show with a 4x4 in it. This is the type of behaviour that makes us 4x4 guys look like morons - It is utterly unbelievable! City cowboys that think they can buy a 4wd and are invincible. Everything seen in this video is what not to do off-road. Was very dangerous because of no experience and stupidity. Please don't allow stupid people like this give 4wd and off-roaders a bad name.
Totally irresponcible setting this as an example of what 4x4 travelling is all about, producers should be fired for putting this on TV

Thats too funny! They should have used a real truck to tow that trailer. Like a Ford F-250 4x4! Superduty!
Wrong tyres, no lift, stock suspension, limited recovery gear, poor hitch choice on trailer, no tyre pressure changes to suit the terrain, no underbody protection, no rock sliders.... and that was just in the 47 seconds i could bear to watch wtf!

you guys are listed as 4x4 gurus. That is really scary as you are just flat dangerous!!! So many things in this video violate all forms of intelligent wheeling even down to the point of hooking a recovery strap to a ball hitch. It would be nice for the rest of the off-roading world if you would take these videos down and not post anymore till you can learn to safely operate your gear and not destroy the land in your excursions
