This 59 year man who loves jazz, Rock and RnB old school has always been touched the angelic voice of Karen Carpenter. It's difficult to not get emotional listening to her songs. Cheers . RIP Karen
Well young lady you have added a new dimension to my life. I'm an old man who has been listening to the carpenters since their beginning. I've listened to their songs and albums hundreds of times. All of their songs are on my Spotify playlist. Their music is like an old friend but watching your videos responding to Karens voice and Richards arrangements has literally given new life and a new perspective to their music because of your moving and heartfelt reactions. Thank You So Much. Sincerely. RJ
This is precisely why I think she's the best female singer of all time. Whitney, Mariah, Celine, and Adele are all phenomenal vocalists, but whereas I hear their talent and appreciate their voices, Karen just touches your soul. Her voice is magic.
true.. and karen was and always will remain the ultimate singer who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU....she told the story of the song, every lyric, every word she played emphasis on, and she also had the most perfect diction and enunciation of ANY singer male or female i have ever heard....plenty countless great singers, lesser number of great vocalists, and then you have karen..
That is a spot on and profound comment my good friend. All those women you mentioned at first are great soaring singers with unbelievable range and pitch. BUT....they are not Karen. There is a purity, warmness, and spirituality in Karen's voice that no other singer has. Nobody!!!!!!! The GOAT, the greatest voice of all time, regardless of gender.
Karen Carpenter, if I could have anyones singing voice, it would be hers. I doubt we will hear a voice so beautiful again, certainly not in my lifetime
U r listening to perfection when u listen to these Carpenter songs. They touch your heart and soul and make them vibrate with feelings of joy. Thanks for the great reactions!!
You're absolutely right her voice fantastic song takes me back to the 70s Richard Carpenter fantastic producer and arranger and of course Karen Carpenter fantastic voice rest in peace Karen Carpenter
sending love. Your 'reactions' are a joy. I was so sad when Karen died. I was just a silly kid but it hurt because her beautiful soul was taken from us ....we watched her pass away before our eyes, unable to stop it.
You exude such genuine appreciation, I feel like I'm listening for the first time myself. The expression in your eyes and your gestures are beautiful too.
I'm a huge Carpenter fan ,,and grew up in the same era and same area....... seeing your fabulous reactions to their wonderful songs... brings great emotions to me.... thank you lovely Angela.....
Angela's reactions are precious and Karen's voice put together with her brothers awesome arrangements with the music and let's not forget Karen's ability and love for playing the drums with many of the songs makes the Carpenter's one of the most underrated groups of all time.
You’re so sweeeeet!!! I’ve visited Karen’s mausoleum a couple of times. I left a pair of drumsticks! Something about her voice! Please hear “For all we know” -Terry
I'm loving watching you fall in love with The Carpenters and the best female vocalist EVER !!! they never made a bad song..well except for calling occupants from interplañetary crafts !!🤣
I have to say that I'm addicted to watching you listening to my favorite Carpenters songs. I love, Love, LOVE your facial expressions when she sings a really pertinent phrase. Thank you for loving my beloved Karen Carpenter.
When theirs know getting over that rainbow when my smallest dreams want come true I can take all madness the world has to give but I want last a day whiteout you! (Karens voice so beautiful love you girl)....
I grew up listening to the Carpenters. As a teenager I would say at times they were my good friends. I would stay up through the night listening to them and it helped me deal with pain as a teen. I am so glad I made it through it. It can be hard on a teen. As a parent I tried to fill the gaps in my own child's life. Their music does make me remember those times.
They say her voice was so perfect, she could walk into a studio, one take, song was done. true legend we lost to early. Lovely to see your generation listening and reacting to her, well done
She had the most comforting voice; the voice of an angel. This is a beautiful song. When the holiday season comes around, you have to react to their Christmas album.
Oh I will definitely do the Christmas stuff. But I’m waiting for the season to start doing those. I’m thinking around Thanksgiving because I know it’s gonna be a lot of songs. Please be patient.
I agree with you. She has been my favourite singer for years and that song is very dear to me. I am very glad to hear that you, a young person, like her voice and her music. I love that young people appreciate singers from the past.❤Please try "Don't cry for me Argentina" sung by Karen. It is amazing.
it makes me smile seeing other peoples reactions to he voice............. i've loved Karen my entire life. continue your journey and thanks for the smiles you're giving me.
Great reaction! Paul Williams was a brilliant songwriter and a friend of Karen & Richard. It seems like whoever's songs she covered Karen took it to another level.
You're just scratching the surface, I can name at least 50 more that are great. I agree with you that she had the greatest voice ever. Not the highest notes or the strongest but there's something about it that gives me goose bumps and makes me tear up. Solataire, Little alter boy, Somewhere to hideaway and countless others, but whatever you do don't listen to her last recorded song, NOW unless you want to melt.
@@bluarcher5941 in my opinion, better because she sang to you not at you, and knew every song was not about her, but for the listener, and knew she was a VOCALIST not just a singer and a STORYTELLER as well... she also had the best diction and enunciation of ANY singer male or female i've ever heard...by the way, streisand once came up to her and said she had a "marvelous instrument"...her brother richard stated, she was at least the equal of streisand, just a different style...
This was recorded in a 4-5 year period in the 70s that I consider the Carpenters' golden age. Just a relentless, sequential series of incredibly produced and performed super hits. This was their best material. So much love for them!
He wrote SOME of those beautiful songs - but he's often overlooked. He played piano, arranged and produced almost all of their song, and was 'instrumental' (pun intended) in their success. Notable other composers were Burt Bacharach and Hal David (Close to You,) Paul Williams and Roger Nichols (this song - I Won't Last a Day Without You, Rainy Days and Mondays, We've Only Just Begun,) Leon Russel (Superstar, This Masquerade,) Geld and Udell (Hurting Each Other.) Richard contributed some GREAT songs with lyricist John Bettis (Goodbye to Love, Only Yesterday, Top of the World, Yesterday Once More, and my favorite - I Need to Be In Love.)
There is comfort food right. Well there's comfort singing, or voices. Her voice, singing, is it. Yet why do I cry after all there years? We lost her too soon. She deserved much better from life, more happiness, and love. Especially for what she gave.
So happy for you on discovering the magic of the Carpenters. Am sure young people of today will be moved just as much as when they were first performed.
This is definitely one of my favorite songs by the Carpenters. Paul Williams wrote it, but Karen breathed life into it. The structure and lyrics of the song are just wonderful, beautifully executed by Karen.
This 59 year man who loves jazz, Rock and RnB old school has always been touched the angelic voice of Karen Carpenter. It's difficult to not get emotional listening to her songs. Cheers . RIP Karen

Merry Christmas, Darling by the Carpenters. Hope you consider it.

An absolute favorite
I love the carpenters ❤️
Everlasting song mistirious voice gift with GOD

I say one of the best singers of all time, male or female. She deserves a place with Sinatra & Co.
Agree 1,000% could not have said it better.
I 100% agree. I’m a grown man and cry to her voice.
Karen also played the drums and danced as well. She was and still is medmorizing.
That voice could Melt a Mountain
It could melt the sun....
Melted my heart in 1970 and continues to be melted to this day...
I've been listening to Karen Carpenter since the 60s.
Her voice somehow invades your soul.
She's unique.
Paul Williams wrote this, that little bugger was brilliant! He wrote a lot of their hits!
And a star in Smokey and the Bandit!
Karen Carpenter no doubt is the top female vocalist ever. When a woman can make a man cry with her music, she has to be awesome! Karen is awesome!
Karen's voice has the same effect on me today as it did in 1970. Timelessly beautiful!
Karen Carpenter had one of the most beautiful voices of all time.

I love this young lady ♥️ she gets it !
Her voice! So haunting!
Even back in the 70's we said, "Her voice!!!"
Beautiful song, love your reaction.
Her voice breaks my heart. I grew up with her, the Carpenters. That she left us so soon, so sad.
"How can you not think that she has the best voice ever?" Paul McCartney agrees with you
John Lennon once told her upon meeting her " you sing like an angel"
Chorus sounds like they overlayed her voice for power and fullness in a smashing success
Karen Carpenter, if I could have anyones singing voice, it would be hers. I doubt we will hear a voice so beautiful again, certainly not in my lifetime
Claire...saw her in 74!
So true!👍✌️
U r listening to perfection when u listen to these Carpenter songs. They touch your heart and soul and make them vibrate with feelings of joy. Thanks for the great reactions!!
You make it so sweet when you look into the video at 2:17 when she sings a "friendly face"
The purest of voices.
You're absolutely right her voice fantastic song takes me back to the 70s Richard Carpenter fantastic producer and arranger and of course Karen Carpenter fantastic voice rest in peace Karen Carpenter
Although this song is sweet and almost upbeat, every time I hear her voice I cry.
sending love. Your 'reactions' are a joy. I was so sad when Karen died. I was just a silly kid but it hurt because her beautiful soul was taken from us ....we watched her pass away before our eyes, unable to stop it.
Here we are xxx years on but her voice still reaches the soul…and will for generations to come
Thank you for doing this one. Please check out *Only Yesterday.* It's one of their more upbeat songs, both lyrically and musically. You'll like it.
Nice to give props to Richard for the arrangements.....he is ALSO a genius, New subscriber....
Richard was the driving force and master in the studio
Karen Carpenter is my all time favorite singer and this is my favorite Carpenter song. I have to agree with you: "Her voice!!!"
You exude such genuine appreciation, I feel like I'm listening for the first time myself. The expression in your eyes and your gestures are beautiful too.

49 years later, this song still gets me - every time.

...and Paul Williams great writing!
Her voice is indescribable. I can’t think of any words that adequately describe its beauty.😮
her voice is a unique experience
Pitch perfect, great lyrics, soulful, it was a sad day when she passed very young.
Paul Williams wrote this song.
Yes Angela. Consider Carpenters at Christmas time. Really gets you in the spirit!
Her voice was truly a gift from God.
Best singer ever

I'm loving watching you fall in love with The Carpenters and the best female vocalist EVER !!! they never made a bad song..well except for calling occupants from interplañetary crafts !!🤣
I love that they expanded their horizons and covered "Calling Occupants" It sounds better then the original by Klattu.
I have to say that I'm addicted to watching you listening to my favorite Carpenters songs. I love, Love, LOVE your facial expressions when she sings a really pertinent phrase. Thank you for loving my beloved Karen Carpenter.

I shed tears every time I hear this song. Maybe I'm a silly old fool, I guess. I'm fine with that.
My favorite song by them. Reminds me of my wife of 39 years.
Just from your reactions, i can tell you have a beautiful soul. I hope you find the love of your life. you deserve it.
I agree, best voice ever!
We need more Carpenters reactions from you!! Karen was indeed amazing and beautiful in every way.
It's as you say, her voice!
The only rival to Karen is patsy cline in my opinion. But Karen is in a league of her own. Pure perfection.
Just wait for what "A Christmas Portrait" will do to make you smile in a few months. Best Christmas album ever..
I could not agree more!
I grew up with the Carpenters. Karen's voice cuts through like a hot knife through butter. Happy you found her and appreciate her.
Karen's voice was a timeless gift to humanity. Celebrate it.
They say her voice was so perfect, she could walk into a studio, one take, song was done. true legend we lost to early.

Brilliant lyric by Paul Williams.
This is back when people talked to each other, instead of swiping right or left.
💯👍
Her voice makes anyone smile.
" for all we know " you will love that one ❤️
She had the most comforting voice; the voice of an angel. This is a beautiful song. When the holiday season comes around, you have to react to their Christmas album.

The Carpenters Christmas album is a must. classic.
@J T I am assuming you are referring to John Bettis. I thought that when I read the comment .

Little Altar Boy YES!
Karen was pure magic...and her brother Richard incredibly talented as well!
Flat out, you are my favorite person to watch reacting to music. You're real, you're sincere and you have a huge heart. Thank you for being you.
I was recently in a situation that was devastating. Then I stopped and called my wife. Her voice was enough to make the turmoil I faced worthwhile.
Greatest female singer ever not even close love her
yep, she's right up there with Streisand and Celine, in my opinion. Perfect voice for that song genre especially.

Karen's voice is like good medicine. This song was pure greatness! Thank you
When Karen delivers a song the message in it is real. You hang on to every word. You believe it.
This was recorded in a 4-5 year period in the 70s that I consider the Carpenters' golden age. Just a relentless, sequential series of incredibly produced and performed super hits. This was their best material. So much love for them!

This song always has me in tears!
Richard Carpenter wrote ALL of those beautiful song and made the best arrangement of the "CLOSE TO YOU" please hear this song.

You.. or Mr Postman or sweet sweet smile everyday or Breaking up its hard to do. next reaction
So happy for you on discovering the magic of the Carpenters. Am sure young people of today will be moved just as much as when they were first performed.
My most favorite Carpenters song. I like the 1992 CD re release remix the best.
With Tony Peluso's guitar mixed in. It's my favorite version too.
Imagine how Karen would feel today to see how much her gift was loved and appreciated. RIP Karen Carpenter.
yep...you're feeling it, Angela...she was one of a kind.
This is definitely one of my favorite songs by the Carpenters. Paul Williams wrote it, but Karen breathed life into it. The structure and lyrics of the song are just wonderful, beautifully executed by Karen.
Roger Nichols wrote the music Paul Williams wrote the Lyrics. They also wrote We''ve Only Just Begun and Rainy Days & Mondays
Her voice is like liquid silk.
