I’m so excited that you played this! I love this game, and yet I’m so horrible at it. It’s honestly nice to see someone go through the same struggles that I did in the beginning (mainly the backwards priority buttons)
As you already know, the priorities are backwards and BECAUSE you’re using the High Alert/Top Priority button, they’re disregarding their own needs, so as long as that’s in play, they won’t eat, they won’t sleep, they won’t go to the bathroom or idle. You should really only use that for, well, emergencies. Don’t feel discouraged though! ONI has a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you’re addicted. Try actually living 100 days in one base :D This game is hard. First You run out of coal for energy, then alge for oxygen, then water for everything... I also dont take more than 6 dupes at first, and then when I have running farms take up to 10 dupes no more. Good Game Seanie :D
Hey Seanie! I just wanted to say that watching your videos never fails to entertain me and put a smile on my face. Keep up the great work and I'd love to watch more Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included alongside SDV!
As someone who has a lot of hours but never plays more than like 60 circles I got the beginning down and this was pain and fun to watch at the same time
My first experience with this game was very similar to this. So much to deal with, and not knowing how to deal with it all properly. XD Also a few things to note if you play more of this game: 1. Be careful about stress. Every duplicant has a stress response. The "destructive" response means they will start breaking machines when stressed, some may eat a whole bunch of food when stressed, etc. So, stress is BAD. 2. The algae terrariums are an alright way to generate oxygen without power, but it doesn't stop generating. So, the pressure can become high enough to cause the ears of your duplicants to "pop", which gives stress. 3. You may want to keep the coal generators separate from commonly used areas. They generate Carbon Dioxide (which is not breathable) and will also generate heat. 4. Lastly, it may be worth remembering how gasses work. Oxygen is lighter than Carbon Dioxide, so will always end up going upwards.
I'm uh... I'm really glad I watched TH-cam tutorials before playing this game. Learning on the fly seems painful 😂 even with tutorials I restarted a million times but at least I had some kind of guidance lmao, it's one of my favorite games but it's a real pain in the butt too

Bruhhhh. Him not reading any tutorials or explanations on the screen hurt so much. Like every time you click on the priority tool it pops up a tip that says priority 9 is highest. I really came in with a positive attitude and a lot of learning the game is trial and error but BABE read the descriptions!!! (Halfway through Seanie reads the story bits. Every overlay contains important info and building descriptions help too,) The suits add decor to the duplicates themselves. Decor lowers stress. You could also make a “break day” schedule where you set it as downtime, wash time, and a few hours of work. And do it like every 10 days or whenever everyone’s stress is high. The massage tables have a max and min setting. If you set the min to 80 no one will use it until 80% stress. Same with triage cots. I’m now 50 mins in and he hasn’t seen (or shown him seeing) the germs or temperature systems at all. Ooooooof Duplicates are 2 blocks tall, can climb 2 blocks up or down, and can jump 1 block 53:00 Rooms need to be completely blocked in. And when you complete a room with certain furniture (explained in the room overlay) it gets bonuses
I get to the 52 minute mark and hear him talking about the Puft as if it cleans your air, rather than making it even worse lol For those of you who haven't played, ONI has a bunch of materials that are unstable as solids and slowly emits gases. Each kind of puft consume a certain gas, and excrete the solid versions as waste products, and the puft excretes slime, which produces more polluted oxygen.
You have the glorious talent of making a terrible run (or 3) still very entertaining to watch. I found you through your latest pvz video and then watched the 100 days of dont starve and then this one, and I enjoyed them all a lot. You gained a subscriber, looking forward to binging more of your stuff! Oxygen not included is at least as much to blame as yourself for how poorly these runs went, and its the normal experience. The game really makes you work for it, but even though I havent played it in years, I could still see a hundred things at a glance. Once you get there, you get there, and then it feels obvious. Well fought, colonists!
Little hint Oxygen is lighter, so it usually goes up, while CO2 is heavier and goes down, so try to get your O2 generation on the bottom of your base with the special tiles to let it flow up.
ahh good times, it's always fun watching new people navigate this game, you did way better than me my first time, it can get chaotic so fast. Also caution to anybody trying this game, you click the icon and somehow 8hours pass by in a blink.
This was actually quite the good progression. You learned most of the basics in your first two colonies which is pretty normal and overall you did pretty well. One thing to help you understand dupe management tho. The higher the number, the higher the priority, meaining priority 1 is the lowest and priority 9 the highest.
This was fascinating to watch! It's interesting seeing people learn the hard way as the creators intended. I'd love to see you learn and grow in this game if you were up for it.
Me, with a cycle 100 full atmo-suited base, a half Rodriquez, a glossy drecko ranch, and some Spaced Out space exploration, watching this video: "Ouch."
Great video and I really hope you continue, so here‘s some advice -There’s a building called carbon skimmer. It pollutes a bit of water but gets rid of carbon dioxide (the black gas that collects at the bottom) -Another very useful building is the water sieve, it uses a bit of sand and power to clean polluted water and give you clean water. -You really should start ranching as it‘s a great sustainable source of food and many other things, like coal for example if you ranch hatches. What you need to know is that you should always build max size farms (96 tiles) because the amount of space determines how many critters can live in a stable (8 in a max size stable). One really important thing is that you always need to remove new eggs, because they also make critters feel crowded. Also, be aware that you can’t permanently store eggs in storage bins, after a few cycles they will turn into raw egg and can‘t hatch anymore.
It's fun to see you out of your element. This game is very fun, and judging by your journey through other games so far you may end up in rimworld one day :D I'd love to see that.
"It's a reading game?" -- yes, read it lol, it would have saved you a lot of trouble. Taking time to check out the various overlays, tooltips, database, etc may sound boring, but it's there for a reason 😉 Other tips: -In general, meal lice are a preferable food source to mush bars, as they don't consume water and power. -Take it easy on printing dupes; while additional laborers sounds good, without proper infrastructure in place they'll suffocate or starve (I went a few dozen cycles with just four). -Some traits should be avoided unless you're an experienced player looking for a challenge, flatulent being one of them (they create natural gas, which is of course unbreathable, and also an eye irritant). -Don't want to spoil things too much, but let's just say water sieves and electrolyzers are among the most useful machines in the game.
TL;DR Use the rooms benefits and it can be easier Hey seanie, I was in your shoes. I don’t have much hours in the game (it’s only 300 and I’m guessing that other people have more than 1000) and let me tell you this: ROOMS! The rooms tab on the top left of the screen is amazing and tells you the benefits like moral and other stuff. It took me a couple of days to know about it. (I had to take a long break) but yeah.
I was like "oh no, dont strat with a bottumless stamic, the hard digging is not worth it!" But it ended up not being a problem in the end... Your learing pattern is so simuler to how i started out, i started playing, everyone died because i didnt understand what i was doing, i started a new colony with hyoerfixtation on not repeating the mistake that killed the last colony, and in the procese i do another 100 mistakes. It took me like 20 colonies to get to a 100 cycle colony, it took me over 30 to reach 1000 cycles, its not a game about makeing one single succsesful colony, its a game about learning and bettering yourself from each colony that died from your mistake. Which is kinda fitting if you know half a thing about the in-game lore
For the outhouse situation, its usually fine to have 1 outhouse for 3 dupes, however the best thing to do is to change their schedules so their potty times are at different times, which you can do by clicking on the button at the top of the screen that says Schedule. I usually find that 2 dupes is best per toilet per potty time. To be honest, its incredibly painful watching this so I didnt make it far past the first death. Ive never reached the technical *end game* portion of this game because I either forget to save before going afk at >>>, or my animals unpause it while I have it paused and doing things. *my poor first 1.5k cycle colony* For anyone interested in this game, I recommend a channel called EchoRidgeGaming, who has a tutorial specifically for beginners, and plays this game a lot so you could learn from his expert experience in a more advanced setting when youre ready to. Good luck!!!
A big thing about that game is restarting, you play gain knowledge and then restart to be able to prevent mistakes because fixing them is not that easy and takes time. Also a tipp don't get so many dups 5 as a max is enough for a long long time.
i’m beginning to understand that i understand nothing about this game

Less than a minute in and a pun this is the content I wait for
For the outhouse situation, its usually fine to have 1 outhouse for 3 dupes, however the best thing to do is to change their schedules so their potty times are at different times, which you can do by clicking on the button at the top of the screen that says Schedule. Good luck!!!
when he failed to get fredward out, but he could have just dug to the west... lmaooo
Evil Knievel? nah, Evil Steevl.
"i have no idea how to get animals in this game" *proceeds to ignore the care package with the animal eggs*
The random self depprocating jokes you throw out absolutely break my concentration, jhesus crist
As someone who also went into this game blind, I get your pain.
When I realized that Seanie has no expirience with this game i was like "SOOO COOOL 100 DAYS FIRST TIME PLAYING!!!"
Then... nevermind. You've tried.
somehow after everything that happened, unnecessarily papering the entire base with drywall was the funniest
every time this youtuber uses 1 in place of 9, an angel loses its wings.
I love procrastinating and doing everything last minute because that’s when I do it the best
as an ONI player Having the Tails colony not ruin the entire water supply by Peeing/Vomiting genuinley suprises me
Oh my GOD this is so hard to watch. Every single minute there is something wrong. I love it 😂
A big thing about that game is restarting, you play gain knowledge and then restart to be able to prevent mistakes because fixing them is not that easy and takes time. Also a tipp don't get so many dups 5 as a max is enough for a long long time.
Damn you Seanie😠! Stop playing all the games I like. If you keep this up, I will subscribe you.
