Good memories. I lived just a couple blocks from the Altstadt when I was in the US Army in 1990. The Strawberry Fest in Erlangen (nearby college town) is nice if you want a smaller scale Oktoberfest experience. They brew a special beer and store the kegs in a cave.

I love Nurnberg. Beautiful city. My wife is from Erlangen, half an hour away, and our favorite thing to do when visiting is wander all over the mid city of Nurnberg. So much history. Visit the fortress and look at the well. Several workers died back in the old days when digging the well...they discovered they were dying from lack of oxygen. So they carried candles to the bottom and lit them while working. Created a draft of fresh air.

It is also worth checking out the beer caves tour! It's only an hour from Muenchen on the ICE.

Very good to be in Paris, I was there in August of 2015 and I did not get to see all the beauties as there are many attractions the ideal to see almost everything is to stay a week.

I was born here (stayed until I was two...now almost 40) and just recently went back. I felt at home instantly. I stayed in a spot right by the tower and every street I walked on I felt I knew. I felt so safe and really hope one day to live there again.

    Great shots!
Nuremberg has many different faces. Of course it is a historical place but there are so many different things you can see. You should at least stay for a week to get a real impression and of course, you need somebody from nuremberg showing you the city! :)

I believe the "Not holy not Roman and not an empire" joke originally came form Voltaire. But who knows. A lot of quotes are misattributed to Voltaire.

Rick, when were these pictures taken? We visited Nürnberg in July 2015 and I took a picture of the bridge at 0:29 of the video, and the trees look exactly the same!!!

I've always wanted to visit. I think some automatically think of the trials whenever I've mentioned the place. Which is sad. It looks like a nice place to visit, with a lot of history.
