After the duo fight at 38 minutes, when you go through a small crevice to call the lift, you can jump up to the left and there's an item SWORD CHAIN. From what I've tested: it speeds up your attacks a little bit and also decreases the chance of dropping the sword during a fight.

You can stun lock the captain, after dropping down attack him once then shoulder charge him, when he starts the animation to stand up attack him then shoulder charge, this will trap him in the corner, rinse and repeat. This technique can also be used and the enemy on the bridge at 57 minutes.
Just got this game yesterday. Finished it in about 1 and a half hours no assist mode used. There is a trick with the final boss where if you hit him as he is about to kill the troll he drops a spear which you can pick up and throw at him as well as your dagger
Thanks for the guide very helpful After struggling with the final boss for couple hours I finally beat him by dropping off the cliff do a shoulder charge then a low attack roll away from the boss then roll thro any off his jump attacks then when he did his attack were he lungs forward with both hands I would duck under it then low attack and shoulder charge roll away rinse and repeat
i dropped down and stuck him with the dagger real quick then followed it up with a strong attack and a shoulder barge, then grabbed the spear in the ground before striking him again followed by another shoulder barge. did this a few times to wear him down a bit. roll away, threw the spear and went in to finish him off. took me a while though... If you're going for the trophy though then yeah... good luck
There are some good ways to cheese the fights. You can get 3-4 free hits on enemies a lot of the time. Especially the ones who run at you. If they run at you run at them and hit them. 100% of the time you will get this free hit. Then sometimes you can shoulder check them right after you run stab them. Usually this is coupled with a low block. I usually spam the right trigger while holding the direction. Thats 2 free hits. Now roll away. Throw your knife, then roll at them and hit them with your sword. Thats 4 free hits. You can usually start fights out like this. The dude at 57:50 is an examples of this. you can start this fight with 4 free hits. If they duck your knife throw just roll past, pick it up and try again. The 57:50 guy will occasionally duck the knife throw. Just dont start this fight with the knife throw or you miss the run and stab free hit. But as for cheesing other enemies many of them can be baited into running at you if you roll 2-3 times away really fast. this will make them run at you and you can get the running swing free hit over and over on them. At the 57:50 guy, run at him right at the start, then swing at him while you both are running then get ready to shoulder check him, but DONT shoulder check if he has hit knife up. Either he will be doing a high attack or a low attack. If its low you can check him. Pretty sure you can only do it once per fight because every other time he will just side step it seems. And dont throw your knife to the right because if he ducks its hard to pick back up. A couple times I managed to get behind him and stab him in his back twice in a row. Im still trying to figure out how to do that consistently because most of the time the roll past him and the spin back toward him is too slow.
Those 4 free hits were so helpful. This game has good awful combat. And how is there no damn campfire anywhere near the end? I should be able to buy armor before the last boss for sure.
On my first playthrough I skipped the Light Stone part and didn't get the Honourable trophy even though I did everything else from your video. In the second playthrough I did the Light Stone part and got that trophy as well as the Honourable trophy, so you should know that that is also necessary for the trophy
Had a hard time with the last boss too but I found him much easier than the 57:50 dude. I beat the last boss without getting hit and found a pretty good strategy for him. I also recorded the fight and may upload it in case I can help anyone. The last fight has more strategy to it than the 57:50 dude. It seems these harder enemies had moves sets that are random. Seems sometimes they will do a particularly easy set and then do a very aggressive set that doesn't leave them open like the other ones. So the strategy won't work if you get the aggressive move set. Anyway, the last boss is easier than the 57:50 dude if you can keep calm and be methodical with how you fight him. Its a dodging match. If he jumps at you roll. If he runs away from you to do a running lunge, roll. In fact roll whenever he does ANYTHING other than the stand high stab he does. This is where you attack. Duck it and the stab and roll off. ONE time during the fight you can get a 3 hit combo off him. I have never gotten it to work more than once during the fight. It happens the same place you normally attack him, but you can attack low, low, high, then roll away. Then use this same duck opening to attack every other time, but only attack once then. Then keep rolling away like usual and avoid him until you see him get ready for that easy to dodge stab he does. Rinse and repeat. You need to learn to get the rolling down to a dance with him and you won't get hit. Dont be afraid to roll into him. Sometimes its the best way. I will Upload my xbox video if I can.
i think they updated him, most of his attacks drop ur sword, it feels like he can swap from upper to lower and vice versa durring his animation, and just in general, spams his attacks
i feel like the devs at this point expect u have taken 0 damage, full armor, played 100 days without stopping even to use the bathroom. just to beat him
After like the 3rd fire I finally entered the sparring guide and I accidentally threw my dagger right before starting the sparring and got stuck when it prompted me to throw it which I already did. I had to start over from the beginning lmao
Going for the pristine shard/wanderer's totem and whenever I offer the required items, they don't accept them and attack me. Has anyone experienced this? Edit: Actually reached out to the dev and realized I am an idiot. For each priest, you need to give them 3 of the item they are looking for (you can see 3 herb things hanging from the ceiling by the herb-priest, e.g.). So you have to have at least 3 of whichever item. More bones for the bones priest (the right priest) can be found going down the first ladder in the area then heading to the right (right by the giant crystal). More herbs for the left priest can be found when following the bones priest (go down the ledge and jump across to where the half-ladder is and the herbs are just to the right). Hope that helps!
I got the Show and Tell achivement at the first troll. lol I could use the light stone twice cause he respawned. Also easy way to kill is letting him run towards you and then run towards him as he heads back to eat. If you time it right it's possible to kill him during the feeding animation.
to get 'mastery' in boss fight is really something. like even with 50% speed the game is still really hard like limbo with combat 100%speed hard. not sure if developer intended or just incompetent.
Well the glitch on the last boss didn’t work for me no matter how many times I tried. Was ready to give up trying to beat him the legit way and honestly I don’t know how I did it but it seemed like a few swings and he died!! Nice game for an evening 😊
Great walkthrough, very well-made! Following you now! I actually noticed that trading in order to get the Light Stone is part of helping all the creatures and getting the trophy Honourable. I helped all creatures like guides say in my first playthrough, however I missed getting the Light Stone in that same playthrough. When I in my 2nd playthrough obtained the Light Stone, both Master Trader and Honourable trophies popped.
So while going for the grind, when I get to said part and die, it starts the whole game again rather than loading me back to just before the fight. What am I doing wrong?
I couldn't get pass the final boss. I was hoping for a fire before him but there isn't. I could only take two hits before dying. However, I did manage to run past him and break the wall to get to my house, which gave me a little laugh after the shitshow of the final few fights.
The ending of this game is so frustrating. I wish they at least gave a check point before the final boss because this boss run is killing an otherwise enjoyable time

dude at 57:50 is giving me a really hard time. The fighting in this game sucks. I appreciate it being tough but its not consistent. This guy with the same attacks can either hit me once and kill me or 3 times and kill be. You never know. On the other hand I have kicked the crap outta him and hit him 5+ times and he doesn't die. Blood spilling down his chest. This video never even had that on him. Then he will hit me ONCE and kill me. Such bullshit.
Yeah, he's frustrating. I can't get past him. I try to stand and block and counter. His attacks moves him forward. I even get what looks like a combo. This might be where I might have to call it.
Apparently your third playthrough changes your beard to grey and removes all checkpoints. I have the Well Crafted trophy left to get and missed it due to my poor fighting skills. Going to be tougher now.
Thanks for the guide. But I hate this game. It is unfair. The AI cheats. I have played for over an hour trying to get past one guy. The one at 57:54. He keeps using a special move not in this video where he jabs forward, his weapon stays there and then it pulls your sword out of your hand. He also knows exactly what I am doing when I push the button. He will continue to duck under my knife throw and he will avoid my shoulder check. I'm so close to finishing...but I wish I never started this game. It is terrible. But again...thanks for the guide. I made it this far and may just quit. And warn all my friends about this one. Challenging is one thing...but unfair is something else.
For the captain, duck his stab like in the video and make sure you get your 3 hits. 2 x's and a Y. Seems like you can do this at least one time in the fight and after that he may be too smart for it. This guy sucks too.
I hate my keyboard and mouse for this. Logi stuff; fucking stalls when I need it the most I have no problems with the difficulty except for the fact that the game doesn’t tell you when your armor is a fucking mess and I get 1-2 shot when I’m completely healthy. Wouldn’t be a bitch problem if there were more campfires
Ps4. The game isn't available on the PS5 as far as I know. That is strange. I did the platinum twice and doesn't have problems with this one. Restart the game? Delete the savefile? Updated the game?

Good walkthrough but such a garbage game. Soft locked me in the training mode by never giving me my dagger to throw and when I have the guy my herbs just never gave me the achievement. Had to restart the game 2 time just for the easiest achievements to get

With help from trophy toms guide I was able to beat the final boss (discription above) and get the mastery trophy and platinum

There are other items in the game like the sword chain that prevents you from dropping your sword. But there is not trophy for that it seems.

What is the purpose of the feint ability? I haven't found any use for it but nothing is in here that isn't useful lol
it is super usefull tbh. enemies learn your attacks so when you exhaust everything feint usually works it baits out a dodge or smth.

You possible offered him the wrong item. He wants bones (look at the items attached to rope which is hanging from the roof)

I know yes. Press start and choose Start Again. Then your progress will be reset and you can play normal.

This has to have the worst game mechanics on any game I've played. Utterly shite.
It's painful but I wouldn't complain. Every enemy has patterns you can adapt to even if you get wrecked multiple times.
As the game tells you at the start: It's different. But not shit.
Definitely not shite and the mechanics are actually pretty decent so I'd assume you just raged at the game lol.
