The golf hats, with the youngsters, started off in the late 70''s. The liquor stores always had them, but the older men use to wear them. The thing about growing up in the hood is that you would always try to emulate the older cats. You would always want to project yourself to be wiser, older, and more mature than your age. So, you would sport the Biscuits, Stacy's, Suspenders, Leather Jackets, Brims, and so on and so forth. So, the golf hats started during my era, and I'm 58. Fist we started with the Ace Deuces, emulating the Original Crips and the Castle Crips. Later we got into our own groove with golf hats in the late 70"s and the early 80's. The attire at the time was the Khaki Suits, Croaker Sacks, Knit Kickers, All-Stars, Batman Jackets, Trenches, Levi Cords, Long Sleeve Shirts (creased up), and everything creased up. Everthing had to be tight. And if it wasn't tight, you were going to catch it from Sun up, to Sun down 😎
Just was telling somebody that....... the Golf Hats was because they sold them in every LIQUOR STORE in south central, before they was selling actual ball teams.

Melly Mel got it wrong smh, #1 Anti Crips move as one unit #2 The first movement was the Brim umbrella in the early 1970's Next came the Piru sets in 1973, outside of the original Piru street click in Compton from 1969. So in the beginning the Influence of the Anti Crips came from the Brims 1st and the Piru's 2nd ; Together they got everyone united and created an alliance that brought all Anti Crips together. Those that ran with the Brims attached Red bandana's & Blood to they set Those that ran with Puddin and Tam, attached Piru and burgundy to they set... Now over time,Brims and Piru's both pushed into other area's. Brims lost alot of sets due to the deadly wars they was engaged in being surrounded by the Westside Crips. Piru's in Compton had more of a safe haven being that they're all next to each other. So when the Alliance was official, Piru's decided to stay Piru and not attach Blood to they set like everybody else. This is why all of the gangs in Compton and Carson push Piru instead of Bloods. Outside of Compton and Carson, Majority of the gangs got Bloods attached to they set. What Mel should've asked is how did Piru sets end up outside of Compton ... Most likely nigga's just moved around and took Piru wherever they went. Same shit on how Crips ended up in Compton and Long Beach but it started in L.A ® Niggas move around !
@@joemosely9383 Go find me a set called the Piru Bloods as a gang moniker and I'll cash app you $100 !!!!! Besides the Pacoima Piru Bloods, There is no gang called the Piru Bloods, Not than and not now.. You young cats are getting the term Blood and the actual Blood moniker confused. That's why Mel said why do you think Piru grew so big, He didn't say Piru Bloods grew big... He said Piru sets are the deepest and than OG Kojack said nah it's the Swans and Bounty Hunter's... Piru's and Brims simply started an alliance for all Anti Crips to come together under the term Blood... Than later on the actual Blood moniker was born.... Brims,Piru's & Bloods is the original order.
@@ggblack2941 Piru original color is Red not burgundy that came later we wear both it makes no difference.Piru predate the alliance and was already fighting the compton crips. In compton the name Piru was anti crip in it self when a crip heard the word piru they already knew what time it was so there was no need to add Blood to it.Besides that Blood was in our vocabulary just like all the anti crips

Because they are, 2 different gangs just under the same alliance. In Chicago it's the same shit, Stones, Vice Lords and Kings are all under the 5 alliance but they different gangs ✔ In L.A, alot of different sets got together and created the Blood unification 💯 Piru's stop fucking with Crips and got on board with the Brims, The rest is history 🔞 In LA they bang Bloods ☝️ In Compton they bang Piru 💪 🔞
Piru originally was a compton thing that went against the crips. In La you had different anti crip tribes but once we all came together this is how the BLOODS was born
@@kyronchrist6763 In the city of Compton the Pirus was the ones who stood up against the crips compton that is.And yes we had a truce with them but in order to have a truce that means we was enemies.Piru Boys was fighting the carver park crips in 71.And the Brims and Chain Gang was not the only anti crip tribes you cant leave out the Figueroa Boys who was actually the first anti crips
@@damuaskari2275 Figueroa Boys no longer exist. But as far as being an independent set that turned Damu, Brims are the 1st enemy to the Crips no doubt about it. Brims even predate the Piru as a gang and been around since they was the Red Apple Hats. They wore Green,Blue, and Brown rags and than finally in 1972 they birthed the Red bandana. My Uncle is Wolf 🔞
My Big Homies that started started Skyline and Lincoln Piru told me, the reason why they became Piru’s was because when they were locked up in CYA they seen the way the Piru’s would hold it down against 1 to 4 odds, and it was inspirational to them. Plus San Diego had rivalry with mainstream LA and it was natural to link up with the outcast.
Carter GK Lincoln Park was never Crips. Before they were Piru’s, they were clicked up with Skyline, and the Central City Gangsta’s(who turned into 6 deuce Brims and later became 5-9). They were beefing heavy with Westcoast Crips at that time. They had about 4-6 members of Lincoln that had went to jail and became Crips on the inside, and came out pushing a Crip line. They weren’t going for it and rushed them up out of they set. They weren’t Piru’s and Bloods yet, but they had been beefing with the Coast, so they didn’t want to be associated with the Coast at all.
Mr LA The Brims were the first Bloods in Daygo, but there is no evidence of being the first ones to funk with the Coasters. They are right next to them, but remember back in those days, black folks did everything together. Remember all the black businesses and Church’s was still in the Coast in the 60’s and 70’s. Everyone was walking to parties all over the Southeast, and that was the problem. The Parties!!!

So in the beginning the Influence of the Anti Crips came from the Brims 1st and the Piru's 2nd ;
Together they got everyone united and created an alliance that brought all Anti Crips together.
Those that ran with the Brims attached Red bandana's & Blood to they set
Those that ran with Puddin and Tam, attached Piru and burgundy to they set...
Same shit on how Crips ended up in Compton and Long Beach but it started in L.A ®
Niggas move around !
Pirus Are Bloods.
Thats Never Changed.

I still don't understand why ppl say blood and piru are two different things. I thought bloods were an anti crip alliance, and Pirus were part of it.
Because they are, 2 different gangs just under the same alliance.
In Chicago it's the same shit,
Stones, Vice Lords and Kings are all under the 5 alliance but they different gangs ✔
In L.A, alot of different sets got together and created the Blood unification 💯
Piru's stop fucking with Crips and got on board with the Brims, The rest is history 🔞

In Compton they bang Piru 💪 🔞
Piru originally was a compton thing that went against the crips. In La you had different anti crip tribes but once we all came together this is how the BLOODS was born

The Original Anti Crips are the Brims and Inglewood Chain gang 🔞

@@damuaskari2275 Figueroa Boys no longer exist. But as far as being an independent set that turned Damu, Brims are the 1st enemy to the Crips no doubt about it.

@Carter GK Lol
Brims was the 1st ones that held it down against Crips and spread the Blood alliance to San Diego
But hats off to the Piru's
@@Brookintellect why did Lincoln turn blood and did they start beefing with skyline right after
Mr LA The Brims were the first Bloods in Daygo, but there is no evidence of being the first ones to funk with the Coasters. They are right next to them, but remember back in those days, black folks did everything together. Remember all the black businesses and Church’s was still in the Coast in the 60’s and 70’s. Everyone was walking to parties all over the Southeast, and that was the problem. The Parties!!!

That Piru question is kind of loaded, why all the gangs turned Piru in and around Compton and why they don't change the name from Piru to Blood. Ever since I've heard of older folks who mention Piru, they've said even when they ran with the Crips they kept the name Piru, they just don't want to adopt and keep their own identity.
