- In this week's motorhome adventure video we head away from the Almeria coast into Europe's only desert and while we are there visit Oasys Mini Hollywood where we get taken back to the old wild west. We also head to the regional capital and explore the old part of Almeria city where we stumble upon a local fiesta.

What a blast we had this week. Wild West in Spain, who would have thunk it..?!? The pool was exactly what we needed to end the day, but I (Alison) will never forget my interaction with the Leopard. What a creature...! 😍
The Almería fiesta was on a grand scale. 60 men to carry the statue. Our little home village only has 8 men, although we do have 2 statues. Call us greedy. 😬
And that castle....Wowsers.

I met Lee van Cleef in our hotel there when I was a child while he was filming one of the spaghetti westerns. He bought me egg and chips and a coke ... very sophisticated 😂

@@findingxanadulife I missed you too, I feel travelling & doing creative things cuts down a lot of over thinking, so one of my desires is to travel the world &keep travelling. I have a friend who is an over- over-thinker so he has tattooed "be present on the now " based on some book he read. He says that's how it reminds him to be in now . The weather where I live is rains so it gets gloomy and then sunny, and then sunny and then gloomy coz it rains anyways keep travelling tc byeee
Aaaaw rainy gloomy weather is tough to deal with. The rain will stop. We're sure you will be able to travel when the time is right.

Yeehaw! That was unexpected for Spain... 🤠 I am glad they repurpose that film set. I don't think they have something like that here in the states. At that scale and with live shows🤔 The procession at the Cathedral was nice. The castle water ways look so relaxing. Belated happy birthday to Sebastian 🎂🎊! Sebastián es un Quinceañero.
There are actually a few in the area. About 4 I think. Oasis Mini Hollywood is the largest. We chose that one because of the reserve (and the human swimming pool..! 🤣) The procession was huge. Much larger than we are used to, but then Almería is the regional capital, so it's to be expected. If it hadn't been so hot, we could have happily sat in the castle grounds for hours by the various waterways, they also had a small pool with water lilies that was lovely. We really enjoyed filming this one and we made an enormous fuss of Sebastian. He was very spoilt most days to be fair. 😘💜🤟

@Katubemeow With Tabernas being the only 'desert' in Europe, it's worth going to. If you are able to hike, there are some stunning areas called the 'Badlands'. Unfortunately we couldn't get Perse off-road enough to visit and it was too hot to hike it. 💜🤟

Always remember growing up in the 70's and early 80's. Growing up there would always be a spaghetti western on the telly. It was only when I got older I understood what spaghetti western even meant. Basically cheaper to film them in Europe than in the US. Great video guys. 😎🤘
Oooh Gareth..! I (Alison) never knew why they were called "Spaghetti Westerns" although I was subjected to many during my childhood as my dad adores them. It makes perfect sense now. 🤯

The combination of the zoo and Western town looked awesome! The surrounding landscape looked stunning.
Knowing your love of animals and always looking out for their welfare, I imagine that they looked well looked after?
The food is going to be what it is in a theme park, but, the prices seemed excellent for somewhere like that?

Honestly, the 'reserve' could be bigger, the space was certainly available and I felt for the bear being on his own, but I guess they are solitary creatures anyway. Overall, they all looked healthy. The horses were certainly well cared for. The white horse had the most beautiful blue eyes.
The prices for food were too be expected at the theme park and the food wasn't dreadful. It was better and cheaper than somewhere like Terramitica that's for sure.
Sarah would love it. Darren had to tear me away from the leopards and the sand cats, I could have sat there all day, just with them. 🤣🤣😘💜🤟
Oh what did we muss, we had holiday in roqueta and thought about a drive to Oasis wished we did now, oh well onto the next trip maybe in November,

It was a blast. We may well go again when it is slightly cooler. We wanted to take the short hike to an actual Oasis nearby, where they filmed Lawrence of Arabia, but it was just too warm. Let us know if you go in November.

Oh now this made me wish we had gone to one of those wild west places now! We didn't think we'd like it as we're not too knowledgeable on westerns, but that looks great fun and so much to see. Hopefully the animals seemed well cared for? I loved the saloon and the dancing show. All very kitsch 😁
Absolutely gobsmacked at that castle being free 😍 Utterly beautiful. Almeria looks to have a very Moorish influence, you'd believe someone if they said it wasn't even Spain. Perhaps we can visit properly next time instead of just waiting for our exhaust to be fixed 🙃

Hey guys..! I (Alison) grew up with lots of westerns, but you really didn't need to know anything about them to have fun at MiniHollywood. I wish that we'd had the time and money to check out the others. Maybe on the way back. I wished the show had been longer, but the saloooon was awesome.
The castle was incredible, we concur. The Moorish influence is everywhere. Hopefully nothing else will need fixing when you go to visit either. 🤪
Yes, we eventually stumbled upon the 'held for review' section. We had some absolute corkers on our Benidorm video. I have the mouth of a sailor at times, but a couple even made my hair curl. I did like the fact that our video should inspire such passion in people, to comment negatively, with such flourish. I wish I could remember them all, but one of the softer ones said we were 'pompous' male body parts. I have always loved the word pompous, so they got extra points for that. 🤩

@comealongdear Absolutely. We want them to make us laugh with their unusual and interesting use of the English language, not just stick to boring 4 letter words. A 5 year old child could do that. Try throwing in a Shakespearian insult or three...🤣🤣💜🤟

It was between 30°c and 34°c when we filmed this, avoiding the heat from home, which was 37°-41°c, but the 'feels like' temperature was a lot hotter, with the full sun.

I know most TH-cam videos have a significant delay before you manage to upload them, but it you´re stll around the area, I would recommend to visit in Almeria "The sea of plastic", or "Europe´s Garden" (depending on how you want to market it), which is one of the very few human-made structures than can be seen from Space, other than the the Great Wall of China.
I recently watched a video about it (whose name I cannot recall), but it´s truly impressive.

Hi..! We drove through the area. The strangest thing about it, was that all the greenhouses seemed empty when we were there. Nothing growing in any of them. Very bizarre. Did the video that you watched, say what they normally grow..?

@@findingxanadulife No idea why they looked empty when you were around. Or maybe I do, since it´s basically a gigantic area where the crops are grown inside, covered by plastic, so even if you looked around, you probably couldn´t see much.
I wish I could tell you the exact name of the video I watched, but anyway, I know for a fact there´s plenty of vids about it. I just remember it was a vid by a TH-camr with many subscribers which was released a short time ago.
Anyway, the point being if it´s calle.d the "Garden of Europe", it´s because the extraordinary amount of fruits and vegetables produced in that area, which are regularly consumed in the UK, Germany, Norway, etc.
Certainly not the nicest area to drive around, but hey, they´re working... ;)

@1650million As we drove through the area, we could see into the growing areas and it looked like there was nothing planted in the ground. Just wooden posts to hold the roof structure or maybe for growing plants on..? We have driven through a similar area in the Alicante region and could see all the fruit trees under the covers. We kind of expected it to be the same.
We'll have to have a look for a video on it. It may not be much to look at, but it's still interesting non the less. 👍 💜🤟
@@findingxanadulife We just watched a TH-cam video about the "Garden of Europe" yesterday. If I remember correctly, it's just too hot to grow crops in the in the summer months. Spring, autumn and winter are growing seasons. 🤟
