      Ah Oils, well, make it thin as possible and go over it till you get it right. I saw a modern oil piece that was very large, roughly 15 foot by 20 foot tall, and all the faces stood off the paper as it had so many layers of paint that it came to life. So its not a bad thing to do bad things lmao.

    I am from the UK. I think it's good that Americans are producing their own quality paint. I think in Europe the extent of old art works and restoration has always meant a demand for very high quality materials. But like artisan bread, jeans etc there's a growing awareness that speed isn't everything. For the record my cousin's husband use to work for Michael Harding and said he was a bit of a snob and hadn't a clue what he was doing and how to run the business.

    Blue Ridge oil paints are the best! I have used his colors for over 2 years now; they're excellent. The colors are buttery, creamy & concentrated. The colors are exactly as they should be & he doesn't use unusual names for his colors so there's no confusion. His cadmium colors are awesome: rich & opaque. I love the flemish lead white. Eric's version is the best on the market for it's mixture & for it's characteristics.

  • @bordereye
    @bordereye 11 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    About 3 years ago I ordered (from the UK, now I leave much further away) some paint tubes from Mr Silver: his colours are really excellent, and considering the quality of the pigments and the oil he uses they are not expensive at all. He also was very kind and efficient. If you live in the US I suggest you to give them a try.

    I love to explore what painters used to create their masterpieces when they all made their own paint. How often do we think about the minerals or plants or organic matter that start the process of paint. Though it is different now, the process is fascinating. This is wonderful. Such a labor of love. You can & probably do pay much more for the colors you're getting from other companies since they have plenty of additives in their paint while Eric's paint is always fresh from the factory: hand milled, hand filled, and sent directly to you.
