I don't know about now, but look at it this way, if they went undefeated they would have beaten PSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, and OSU. I don't know how you could keep them out of the playoffs if they ran that table.
Any team that's undefeated in a power 5 conference should be in the discussion. I'm not saying they would get in, but they should definitely be considered. They definitely shouldn't be below a 2 loss Florida.
Tim Meyer how? there are 5 SEC schools better than PSU. Florida is one of them. and Florida’s two losses are to LSU and Georgia. Two teams that are better than PSU and Minnesota.
Minnesota haters before the game "They haven't played anybody Penn State will expose them", after the game "Eh, I knew Penn State was overrated not that huge of a win".
54321Newcomb I’m a broken hearted PSU fan. I agree with you 100%. Not many people caught this, but last Tuesday during his press conference James Franklin who is kinda like PJ Fleck, he’s a bit over the top with the positive attitude. But Franklin got serious for a moment and basically said if Minnesota gets up early, there is no way to really catch them. Penn State was not looking past Minnesota, all the talking heads are talking about how Penn State lost. They should be talking about how Minnesota won. Great game and a true win by the Gophers. Congratulations! They earned it!
@@jackstraw6880 I'm a Penn State fan too, and will always support them no matter what, but I agree with you 100%. If you heard James Franklin during pre-game warmups talking to one of the d-lineman, he said to him, "Let's show 'em what the best d-line in the country is all about." He thinks the team is way better than they really are, because Penn State is far from having the best d-line in the country. Tanner Morgan sat in the pocket and picked the secondary apart, because "the best d-line in the country" got no pressure on him. They were pushed around at the line of scrimmage, among other things. This loss should already be behind them, and they got Ohio State in two weeks, but it'll be a huge mistake to look past Indiana (7-2), because they are having a great season.
54321Newcomb : It’s been that way with OSU too, they whooped Wisconsin, “meh Wisconsin lost to Illinois, their not really that good,” OSU has decimated 3 top 25 teams but apparently they’re all overrated
Demetrius Evans : The Big 10 cycle 😂 but the SEC? Oh that could never be overrated. Not saying the SEC is bad, they’re not, but People only look down upon the Big 10
If the gophers are not in the top 10 after this win, the college football playoff rankings are confirmed to be a total sham. Look at Minnesota’s games before this week and Alabama’s games before this week and tell me that Alabama really now deserves to be 6-7 places higher. Outside of blatant bias towards big-name schools, there would simply be no explanation.
Ji woo Choi and Ohio state lost to Virginia tech by 14 in 2014 then went on to win the national championship including beating Bama and no 1 ranked Oregon both by double digits
Listen Minnesota goes undefeated they have to get in out of respect but I think an Alabama in this case is better as would a Georgia Utah Oregon ove to Minnesota. However they are part of a power 5 and an especially strong conference they win out especially beating OSU they will get in.
allen panicker you think but how could you possibly know? Minnesota just beat the team the committee felt was they 4th best in the country and also hasn’t lost. Unlike any of the teams you just mentioned. They also have played a schedule that’s as least as hard but probably harder than clemsons who has a huge push from people to be a top 4 team. I don’t think Minnesota is top four yet but they have just as good of an arguement as anyone else
Well thats a little tricky because a lot of those loses where against decent teams or early in the season the only team that don't deserve that high of rankings is Georgia everyone else has a bigger case
big peggy as a Buckeye, I disagree. LSU should be one. Their quality wins are much better. However, if tOSU wins out, based on their run offense & defense deferentials, they should be ranked #1.

Penn State is a great team, but I still think the rankings are released this early for tv ratings. The Big Ten wanted a matchup like the SEC had this past weekend. OSU/PSU was the game they were hoping for. I love Penn State, but was surprised all year that the talking heads loved them so much this year. This seasons “tough stretch” of games is no different then any other OCTOBER/NOVEMBER stretch of games PSU plays every year. And usually the teams in the Big Ten are usually doing much better then this year... Will never complain about PSU getting love especially after the “dark days” but I was a bit shocked by the #4 CFP ranking...
Should Minnesota be in the college football playoff discussion?
