Joe Frank was like the Lou Reed of radio. Just incredible. I remember driving on Sunday morning in LA, '97, and going in circles just to keep listening and then finally park and just keep listening in my old '68 Dodge Dart sitting there until he was finished.
The same happened for me a few times! Be sure to subscribe! It's been too quiet on Joe's YT channel. Now in 2021, I'll be uploading full Joe Frank shows. Stay tuned.
Honored to have seen you live once...loved listening to you on road trips when no radio to play...thanks for keeping me company way back then with my friends on long car rides.
You are so welcome. Joe loved to listen to new shows in his car on the first airings. He would tell me he loved picturing listeners driving and listening.
A truly brilliant and original mind. I remember as a teenager in the 1980s catching his radio show every once in a while late at night. It always had that hypnotic and mesmerizing quality to it.
-Fond Memories of Joe On KCRW in LA in the 90s on saturdays and again on sundays. Transported into the bizarre, fantastic, poignant and hysterically funny. This man is a national treasure. Especially spoke out to alienated, the alone, the desperate. -Thx Joe!
So lucky to have attended this show. Discovered Joe for myself on KCSM in Bay Area in the 90s, and followed whenever I could find his shows. Thanks for posting!
Great teller. I got to know about him while listening to kcrw as I was living in Los Angeles. He filled the emptiness of my solitude many many times. I reached the city as a teacher at a university from Spain to who-knows-what. I approached to American live culture through him from a very at a time European sensibility of his. That is what I found fantastic of Joe Frank. Thanks Joe.
I've never seen or heard this one, and having just finished this video, I am glad I did. I am glad I record every show on Sunday night to listen to on Monday. One of those great geniuses, he is.
I love the when they play his stuff. It's very touching the way he tells a story. Often heartfelt. A fantastic storyteller. Almost like Jean Shepard. TK/TB-41066, out...
I used to listen to Joe Frank's monologues about 25 years ago on WXPN in Philadelphia. And then one day his show was gone from XPN. I missed it. Odd, stream of consciousness "stories"........but he had a definite cult following.
kissed6 .. This is not the Joe Frank from Hamilton Frank and Reynolds. mrzack888.... check out a little more of who Joe Frank is. this is a very small (out of context) excerpt from an hour long show.

"So take this this blemished offering, for the hour is late, and the last bottle broken."

Long live Jor
He could do a great Clint Eastwood impersonation with that voice.

FKNA
The Trump 757. PAID FOR BY SOMEONE ELSE'S $$$.
He never should have left Hamilton and Reynolds
He never was in it.
this sob is hallucinating...
the background jazz music is better than joe's incomprehensible ramblings.
mrzack888 nobody likes you and you will never be a beloved member of humanity like Joe Frank was... Inshallah.
