Breast cancer is one of the nasty things. My mom died of it. Many people who are not going through it don't understand all the strength to do it. For 30 years is a incredible fight. Seeing her sing you would never know it.

She used to go to her cancer hospital and visit patients, sit with them, talk to them and help them get though. You can imagine how surprised they were to see her. Wow,she us a miracle worker. I didn't know that her cancer matastised. If anyone really don't know. When you cancer spreads it usually means you won't have much longer. I don't know the years,and don't need to know. I do know that my wife lived a year and another relative 4 years. And a lot of agony and pain goes along with it.

@Olivia...I have gallbladder cancer too and had my gallbladder out end of May (That's when it was discovered) but have to have a procedure soon then when that heals, another major operation. I hope I don't get C. diff again too as that claims lives. Amazing your husband is in good health. The surgeon is going to check during the big operation whether I will need a big part of my liver removed as a cancerous lesion or a few may be attached. Yikes.

Yes I was surprised by those comments after her death especially when she emphasized on many interviews that she was cancer free and did not consider it a "battle " She said she did not even like the word "remission"
Essentially Olivia had cancer for 30 years plus. My sister lived about 2 years after her 1985 diagnosis. Her cancer had already metastasized when she was diagnosed. She went to an air force MD who told her it was nothing and she believed him because she wanted to. Quack. Her tumor enveloped her entire breast when she finally got a second opinion. She never complained once and she suffered so. I know she did. Olivia did the best she could for herself. I’m sad in her passing.

I'm glad I watched this interview. I get sad, moody and depressed at times over what I think life has handed me and Jane's recollection of her friend's attitude while facing 30 years of living with cancer is a reminder that I have so much to bet grateful for and to be happy in the moment. In the past few days, I've watched every video I can find of her singing on TH-cam. She was my first celebrity crush with "Have You Ever Been Mellow" in 1975, and the crush was expanded with every video and movie since. The video of her "Physical" concert from Webber State might be the best she has ever performed. A piece of my youth is now missing. There will never be another Olivia......... RIP...... I hate that word CANCER! I have watched my niece, brother and father suffer to the end. Olivia came and touched so many people with her singing and acting. She raised money to help others. She stayed beautiful right to the end. Now she is among the Angel's singing.
I agree with you, cancer takes so many from us, young and old and every age in between. It's insidious. Olivia' s medicinal canibis treatment should be available to all, she said it relieved her pain immensely . Lab medicine and treatments don't seem to do any better, mostly, they prolongs life, but do not cure the cancer.

Cancer is a horrible disease, been there, Ampulary Cancer, 8 of 12 rounds of chemo. Trying to find a cure for Cancer as been around 100 years, along with that other horrible diseases, MS, Lou Guerigs, ect so many donations are given and cures are never found. Then, I see men trying to go to outer space, men causing wars, millions of dollars being spent on these things when the problems here on earth haven’t been solved. It’s terribly sad, and disheartening 😒
Cancer survivor here, too........a polyp that was removed in the fall of 2020 and 25 rounds of radiation & 56 doses of chemo pills immediately following (I was VERY LUCKY that I didn't have to go the intravenous route). And I COULD NOT POSSIBLY AGREE WITH YOU MORE.

@Nicky75 that could possibly be true, but for me was the fact that I was all about health no hard liquor, occasionally a a glass of wine lemon water in the morning, took my vitamins though, I did have a lot of stress trying to to everything for everybody, children, job, home, ect... so it took me by surprise. I went to the doctor thinking I had a bladder infection.... due to dark urine.

I hate that word CANCER! I have watched my niece, brother and father suffer to the end. Olivia came and touched so many people with her singing and acting. She raised money to help others. She stayed beautiful right to the end. Now she is among the Angel's singing.
I agree with you, cancer takes so many from us, young and old and every age in between. It's insidious.
Olivia' s medicinal canibis treatment should be available to all, she said it relieved her pain immensely .
Lab medicine and treatments don't seem to do any better, mostly, they prolongs life, but do not cure the cancer.
There are 'some' people in this world with such lovely, genuine qualities throughout their entire being, and Olivia was/ still is one of them.

I adore Olivia and will always have such admiration for her. Her life was blessed in so many ways, but ended way too soon. I always said she was the prettiest girl I ever saw - inside and out. Rest in peace sweet angel.

Cancer is a horrible disease, been there, Ampulary Cancer, 8 of 12 rounds of chemo. Trying to find a cure for Cancer as been around 100 years, along with that other horrible diseases, MS, Lou Guerigs, ect so many donations are given and cures are never found. Then, I see men trying to go to outer space, men causing wars, millions of dollars being spent on these things when the problems here on earth haven’t been solved. It’s terribly sad, and disheartening 😒
Cancer survivor here, too........a polyp that was removed in the fall of 2020 and 25 rounds of radiation & 56 doses of chemo pills immediately following (I was VERY LUCKY that I didn't have to go the intravenous route). And I COULD NOT POSSIBLY AGREE WITH YOU MORE.

@Nicky75 that could possibly be true, but for me was the fact that I was all about health no hard liquor, occasionally a a glass of wine lemon water in the morning, took my vitamins though, I did have a lot of stress trying to to everything for everybody, children, job, home, ect... so it took me by surprise. I went to the doctor thinking I had a bladder infection.... due to dark urine.

My sister died with cancer in 2007. She and Olivia shared the same spirit for life and pushing forward.
Honestly don't like being in a world without ONJ in it, her iconic voice still slicing through the recesses of my mind, for weeks now.
I remember her laughing at a ice skating rink in Culver City Ca her daughter was there learning to ice skate I remember her soft smile as she was being talked to with all the other moms who were there with their children it was if you had known her forever and you felt so happy by her just being with you.
