Volodymyr Zelenksy has freed from prison fascist militants convicted of some of the most heinous crimes
According to a July 11 report in Ukrainian media, Ruslan Onishenko, commander of the now-disbanded Tornado Battalion, was freed as part of President Zelensky’s scheme to release prisoners with combat experience. Along with an unwavering commitment to fascism, Onishenko is known as a psychopathic sadist who was involved in sexually assaulting children, brutally torturing prisoners, and murder.
Onishenko’s release follows a February 27 order by Zelensky to free other convicted former Tornado members like Danil “Mujahed” Lyashuk, a fanatic from Belarus who has openly emulated ISIS and boasted of torturing captives for sheer enjoyment. According to Zelensky‘s decree, prisoners with combat experience would be allowed to “compensate for their guilt” by fighting in the “hottest spots.”
Back in 2015, when the Ukrainian state provided official support to his Tornado Battalion, Onishenko texted two fellow “patriots,” Voldomor and Svetlana Savichuk, propositioning Svetlana Savichuk to “suck my c### in front of the [toddler] children.” . He also asked Savichuk to perform lewd acts on her children for his viewing pleasure. Despite the magnitude of his crimes, which included torture, murder, rape - including that of children - kidnapping, amputation, and more, Onishenko was sentenced to a mere 11 years in prison on April 11, 2017.,the uk,us,eu are now arming these animals

      @BigHenFor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

They are if all you value is your own certainty. Dealing with people in anyway other than the autocratic is often like herding cats but, basic ways of doing things only works for basic people. For humanity to progress we need to move on from basic ways of doing things. We need to move on from the old ways of organising our lives, and learn to adapt. Nationalism is politics for basic people, and we can do better than that. Putin doesn't want to adapt and accordingly, he finds himself sharing the ideas of the extremists in the West. To him the world is too uncertain for him to accept. Yet, he's failing by his own metric to improve the welfare of his own people, and reduce their insecurity. That's why he's going after Ukraine, because in his own thinking it shouldn't exist. But, it does and a lot of Russians and Ukrainians are paying the price for his folly. It didn't have to happen but Georgia should have been a warning but, we ignored that didn't we? For convenience sake. It's time we started to stop thinking everybody wants to do what we do, and show others that it works. We're failing at that too because instead of fixing our own problems we brush them under the mental carpet. It's ironic but the US is suffering too in life expectancy, increasing poverty, and greater insecurity for its own people over time. So, do people take the US seriously? No, not in the way it thinks they do. They take the US' wealth seriously but, beyond that I don't think so. But wealth and great virtue are not the same. The same problems with power, greed, and corruption are in the US, but with a liberal spin on it. And people know that. It's like which version would you prefer? Russia or the US. If you are poor, there's increasingly little difference. That's the problem, nevermind Putin and Trump being stuck in a fantasy 20th century, and insecure people craving security are turning to authoritarian. Haven't we learnt that lesson already? Likes like we haven't.

Besides that, you should stop fetishizing democracy as if its something to kill and die for, especially as your social and economic system, capitalism/corporatism, is fundamentally incompatible with any notion of genuine popular self‐government (if there was any semblance of the electorate having real agency we would not be in the predicament we are in because it would be against the interests of the majority. Russia is much much weaker then the west combined, and Putin doesn't want to accept this fact. He knows the values of western democracies and what west can do and cannot do . He is trying to use his power most effectively but obviously he doesn't care about human lives. If the west could behave recklessly like him, he wouldn't dare to do most of the things he has been doing.
and one more thing to add, western governments are actually hypocrites, that's true, it's not the values stopping governments to act like Putin, but the power of people and the existence of democracy. they know they'd pay for what they do. when they have the opportunity they become war criminals like they did in Iraq, Japan, Afghanistan, and many other places.

The World’s Moral And Practical Obligation To Ukraine
In Ukraine, there is both a moral and practical obligation, which transcends the fact of there being no formal obligation from NATO or the EU.
As we know from history, formal obligations crumble in the face of reality when dealing with someone like Putin. I am not complaining so much as I am cautioning the entire world that if it is not willing to nip in the bud the actions of Putin now, we will most certainly be compelled to confront him later. And the effects of that will probably be much worse than the risk of starting a third world war now.
A world that bows to the will of a bully and dictator today, will either become a virtual pawn of that bully and dictator or be forced to fight him later. As we saw with Hitler, because the world was not willing to confront him early on, the ultimate conflagration that resulted was much worse than it might otherwise have been.
Just as a free individual cannot long endure the abuse and domination of a bullying neighbor, so too, the free nations of the world cannot long endure the abuse and dominance of a bully and dictator among them.
Of course, the possibility of nuclear war is paralyzing, and the present fear of that happening is what gives Putin his ultimate edge. He knows this and wants the world to think he might be crazy enough to use nuclear weapons. We need to call his bluff by letting him know that we will even risk nuclear war to save freedom and democracy in the world.
The world not only allowed Putin to exist but did business with him. Now humanity must pay the karmic price for its complicity. And that price may be a third world war, which might even mean nuclear war.
This is a horrifying thought, but reality does not care what is horrifying to humanity. The world we create and the results of that creation are as they are. If we cater to autocrats, we will have to live with autocracy as the way of the world - or we can stop allowing autocrats to evolve and exist in the world.
At the moment, Ukraine is the center of our universe. It is the focal point and pivot point for our future. What we decide to do there will determine the direction we will take to that future and what that future will be. Will it be a world where freedom and democracy become the way of the world for all humankind, or will it be a world where the dream of freedom and democracy is dead, and slavery and autocracy rule?
    JRB

I couldn't agree more. This nightmare Ukrainians face today, I've seen it coming clear as cristal for the last 20 years now. This confrontation, after the smaller ones in Georgia and Moldavia, was part of Putin's plan all along. He just needed the right momentum, while silencing every opposition, brainwashing a large part of the population, disrupting information and perverting people's minds and views and puting himself in the position of the "Great Protector" or the Russian Motherland and Russian Orthodox faith (Patriarch Kyril could in a way himself be seen as an oligarch, as head of the Russian church, a devilish corporation in itself). That's where we are now. It is indeed a pivotal terrifying moment, but there's no way we can escape our moral obligations and the terrible choice we have to make between coping with this ever growing threat in the years to come or stand up to defend not only Ukraine's future, but also the future of western democracy and liberty. If we fail, the 21st century will be known as the one who saw authoritarianism prevail over democracy and the world sink into darkness. I would rather not be part of the latter.

Dr. Snyder is totally correct. I read "On Tyranny" soon after publication and "The Road To Unfreedom" when it was published in early 2018. The latter is a prescient work predicting the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, I then read "Bloodlands". This interview sums up what I learned from reading his work. A Polish woman who survived the Battle of Warsaw, as a combatant, in 1944, prepared me in personal conversation and memoir in 2001 for my encounter with Dr. Snyder's great body of work. We are in a time of great peril evidenced by the embrace of cruel putinism equally embraced by cruel trumpism. Partners in cruelty. Send Ukraine more weapons. SOS!

Apologies I didn't mean the UN but NATO, besides having re read your comment, you do know that the West has been supplying offensive weapons to the Ukraine already? I should point out I'm not condoning the invasion but highlighting the hypocrisy of the West, the US did have bio labs there with the capability of developing bio weapons. The AZOV brigade and right sector are Nazi's who have formerly been incorporated into the Ukrainian military. Who we have and are arming currently. Also the US have used chemical weapons on civilian populations indiscriminately in the past, notably with the Vietnamese and agent Orange so can't really criticise Russia in all fairness.

So look his future is dim and his days are numbered obviously I feel that he could feel that this is his worst case scenario so in his thinking why not drop a nuclear bomb ........and if the decision is made.....who can stop him??? What utter stupidity. If anything, Putin missed the boat. His move against Ukraine makes perfect sense. Ukraine reached a point where it was poised to become an economic and technological power. Something like Korea. In Putin's view, Russia would be ultimately strategically threatened by Ukraine. And he is right. Ultimately Ukraine would become part of the EU. So in his view it's better to eliminate this strategic threat now rather than face a bigger threat in 20-30 years. Pretty calculated don't you think? His only mistake is that he did not realise how far down that path Ukraine already is. My assumption is that a good deal of his rhetoric appeals to his target audience in-house. I.e. means to an end.
