Kept that bike three years and road it religiously only thing I fixed myself was the tranny because of fifth and 2-3 was bout gone. Put it back together with the same gaskets and road it til I sold it. Other than that it never gave me a problem. I also use to whip up on other stock bikes like no other.
I'm not talking crap here either, I think the video was just based on top speed. If that's all it was for is top speed than ringing out each gear isn't needed just 5th gear needs to be maxed. If he was doing an acceleration test than I would understand maxing each gear.
Just curious and asking any 660 owners. I bought a used 660 from a second owner so he nor I know if it's stock but I'm running 80 in 4th and I've never run out 5th ... What has been done to it cause it looks stock.
Do you know what your gearing is? If you truly run 80mph at the top of fourth you must have like 16 - 34 gearing. As far as mods go the internals are probably modded.. maybe a big bore kit, cam, big carb? I would look at the carb and see if its upgraded. If you have a bigger carburetor chances are the rest of the engine is modified! Ride safe!
MotoPosh ... Thanks. I have a friend who wants to dive into it this winter and see what's been done but if I have enough people tell me the same thing I'll say screw it and believe everyone. It rides great but will pretty much flood it's self if I have to ride slow for to long, so on slower trails I just have to grab the clutch every now and again and rev it high.
it was pretty much red lined on the third attempt, maybe had 100 or 200 rpms left that's it. Also I had small diameter tires, stock tires I've had it to 80mph
+Resiign The only way that could be true is if you geared it different or have big tires on the rear. The 700 has the power to go 90 but it doesn't have the gearing.
MotoPosh I never geared it different I just have a new sprocket set set my friend put on and stock tires. I got an aftermarket air filter and oil filter.
MotoPosh my friend works at a shop and he just put it together for cheap. I just said I wanted to be the fastest guy out on the trails maybe he did. I'll ask him that and get back to you.
UPDATE!......I removed the "speed limiter" and I got a max of 85mph (however I couldn't really push it because I was starting to fish tail and was forced to slow down.) but it's probably in the very low 90's.
I don’t know why people use those inaccurate phone gps apps . With the mods your 700r has you will get more than 73 lmao stock they go between 77 to 78.If you disable the limiter and change the front sprocket I’ve seen 82mph.so with a good full exhaust power commander and intake with a bigger front sprocket and limiter disabled I guarantee you’ll hit 84 to 85 on a legit gps or radar
Lol? That's a motorcycle that weighs less than half of what a quad weighs. But if you must know it is restricted to 6k rpm in 5th gear. 9k is redline and it would top out around 90 unrestricted.
I have the front stock 14 tooth sprocket. There is no lack of power just revs, I could change the gearing to 15-42 and top it out much higher. What gearing do you run?

Yeah I wasn't really ringing out all the gears except 5th. I'll do a proper 0-60 soon with better shifts

Very quick shifts and I never heard the rev limiter and also your going up hill, those are all factors

got up to 78 mph on my newer video. with stock tires I would probably hit 82/83. I run street tires which are shorter than stock.
