  • This is a guided meditation on the soft butter method introspective meditation as detailed by Zen Master Hakuin. It was taught to Hakuin as he was suffering from "Zen sickness" (exhaustion) caused by over-exertion and extreme austerities.
    For more details on the background and context of this meditation, please see this article extracted from Hakuin's autobiography.

    WOW! ❤ This is an incredible, healing meditation! I appreciate that you went through it twice, as the butter really sunk in. I felt especially energy depleted today. Before closing the computer, the page changed and this meditation popped up, as things periodically do when there is something that I need to hear or see. I’ve learned to pay attention to such synchronicities. There was just a mild resistance before beginning, as it was past the time to begin all the tasks which I felt had to be done. However, the words “energy and “healing” drew me in. My head felt like an onset of of a migraine, my throat slightly sore, back hurting, (none of the above very bad,simply uncomfortable). Additionally, I was experiencing lower abdominal irritation; enough to make those loud gurgling sounds that can go along with slightly painful little stabbing sensations in the same area. The reason that I’ve described so much detail, is to let you know that this meditation worked for me. By the time the first part was completed, the above aches were almost gone and the sounds from my lower abdominal area had substantially decreased. By the 2nd time, ALL of the sounds and intermittent pains were completely gone! I can’t say that I’m ready to jump up and start dancing, although I’m certainly closer to that. I will definitely be able to start the work I need to without feeling like I’m dragging through every little task. Thank you, as always, for all the wonderful works and meditations that you bring to us! Your work has enriched my studies and practice immeasurably. I intend to practice this daily. ❤️🙏🏼❤️.

    Deepest gratitude for sharing such a powerful meditation in your exquisite voice. I’ve been practicing this daily for a short while and it’s helping the fatigue I’ve experienced since having glandular fever some months ago. However, what I’m also noticing is healing at an emotional level… soothing of childhood wounding and feeling safer in my body. I can’t express my gratitude for what you bring to this world ❤

    I just found this meditation & listened for the first time. I got all situated & looked at the clock which read 11:11. I thought ha that’s a cool synchronicity….then fell asleep during the meditation, which is nothing new for me. I woke up partway once, feeling really weird as the meditation played, but drifted quickly back to sleep. I woke again, only in this time silence. When I looked at the clock, it read 11:33. 22 minutes had passed.
    It shows the 34 minute video played til the end, but only 22 minutes had passed. So it’s like the opposite of “lost time” you hear about. That was very strange 😬

    Is deep relaxation essence of meditation?

  • @micafreedom3413
    @micafreedom3413 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    What if you can not really visualize or feel the heat of the butter? Can it work anyway just by listening to the words?

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sure, just try to feel the natural sensations of the body as you draw you attention down from top to bottom. The visualization is just to help people do this and to stay focused.

  • @markw1857
    @markw1857 ปีที่แล้ว

    In performing this meditation, is it usual to undergo even more severe symptoms before resolution is obtained?

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This can perhaps happen as a natural part of the healing process. However, it could more likely be that in doing this practice you become more aware of the sensations as you focus on being more present throughout you body. Therefore, it may not be that the symptoms are intensifying but that your Awareness of them is growing more sensitive and acute. The encouragement is to keep working with whatever arises and practice bringing the heat down from the head (thinking mind) in order to cool, balance and harmonize the body. Hope this helps.

    In the course of continuous daily repetition, does the body spontaneously begin to heal itself, or do external healing modalities arise in the play, or is it often a combination of both of these scenarios? Thank you so much for this.

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In the course of Dhamma, anything and everything is possible. There are no restrictions, no limitations, no rules. Healing can take place well beyond the mind and everyone will have a unique and different response with this practice. The key is to relax and let go of analyzing anything or trying to figure it out. As you learn to trust and rest into that, healing will take place (perhaps rapidly) of it's own accord. 💛💛💛
